2.5 stars

Is this book a complete rip off of Throne of Glass? Yes

Is this book poorly written? Yes

Did I still enjoy reading it? Somewhat yes

So I finished the book and didn't DNF it, that says a lot. I actually mostly enjoyed the first 70% of this book, but overall it was just okay. It felt simultaneously a rip off of multiple famous books (Throne of Glass, The Hunger Games, Divergent, Harry Potter 4) with weird "easter eggs" thrown in that really took me out of the book more than anything. I think the author tried but there were too many things with this book that didn't work for me in the end. Not sure I'd be willing to read more in this series.

Jamael Szucs I'm only about 25% in and couldn't help but feel like I'm reading a plagiarized Throne of Glass.... Glad you called that out

Karen G Haven’t read the books yet that you mentioned so I enjoyed reading it.

haunnah miller It’s definitely strange but willing to read the next book

Shelley Lawrence Interesting, I don’t see the parallels to TOG at all. The Selection…a bit, but I enjoy tournament plots. I had fun with it. To each his own. ☺️

Maristella At some parts, it reminded me of "The Court of Thorns and Roses" too

Megs I don’t see the comparisons to Throne of glass. I can see similarities with ACOTAR only between tamlin and atlas. Both lovable then slimy near the end, but that’s it.

Aliya Gilley For me it was a mix of ACOTAR and The Selection (a YA book about girls being chosen for a prince/king). Somehow I find myself willing to read the second haha

Pages Of Kayy SJM is not the blueprint for fantasy or tournaments or slimy men 🙂‍↕️. It reminds of you causing certain things in her because it’s a (pause for dramatic effect) common plot line or trope in fantasy books.
