I never write reviews, but feel like I needed to get this off my chest:
This book has a super weird, conservative energy for being marketed as a Gilmore Girls meets Practical Magic cozy read.
I, for one, would rather my cozy magic NOT be saddled with Christian ideology, and conservative small town firefighter hero energy. An ick I knew I had, but wished I’d known about this particular book prior to shelling out $12. In this economy?! DNF.

Thank you everyone for your feedback as this book is on my list "to read" and now I don't mind removing it. There isn't enough time to read to read things we don't care for.
I just started this as one of my BOTM picks so I'll probably still continue reading it just to see where it goes now its here, but thank you so much for mentioning the ideology & such. I'm not far but the moment I hit fatphobia to try to make someone feel better, I just had to scroll reviews. should've done this sooner
I totally got duped by this description and also paid money for the book!! And I never buy books! 😂 I feel so misled! But also still want to read it to see for myself how terrible it is - even through l fully trust all the reviews! 😂 Definitely did not expect the weird conservative vibe though!!
Omg I met her for her book signing in the town she lived in and met some of her friends in line and this really surprises me! They seemed super liberal?! I haven’t read it yet tho bc of all the bad reviews 🙈
I feel, like I didn’t read the same book as you all!?! I didn’t get any of these vibes and thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Hated the book but had totally different vibes. There is a handful of mentioning a of praying and a Bible story antidote that the brother mentions in passing as a metaphor. Nothing overtly conservative. Liberal Christians exist so I don’t see praying as a conservative act. Not everything is political. Was it dull and the main character an annoying whiny B…1,000%?
