really liked it

I have a weird experience with Elly Griffiths' books because they tend to disappoint me at some point.
With her Ruth Galloway series the disappointment came in after reading the second book since Nelson came along as shallow and Ruth as a doormat in her feelings for him and the love triangles were soooo bloody tiresome and in one book in particular it seemed nobody could keep it in his pants!
With her Harbinder Kaur series it came by book three and because the change of setting and the type of crime investigation had a different quality and because I'm bloody tired of the theme old school friends have secrets and who amongst them might be a murderer also the reason I'm struggling with If We Were Villains!
I hope though that I'll have better luck with her Brighton mysteries series!

I enjoyed reading The Zig Zag Girl and I liked Edgar, Max and Diablo! It was a nice introduction to the characters amidst a murder mystery!
The plot was intriguing and the setting atmospheric!
While reading I entertained the thought of various characters being the perpetrator and in one particular case I wanted to be wrong!
Edgar and Max despite the fact of having different personality types they compliment each other and work well together!
