Cruel Tales

I've wanted to read De L'Isle-Adam for a while, not sure this selection was necessarily the best place to start, it's a bit of a mixture of dark gothic tales, satirical inventions and more sentimental pieces.
Some of the tales are excellent but the more satirical scientific tales weren't my kind of thing.
I'd definitely try some of Stableford's translations as I feel maybe he would curate a collection with more panache!?
