message 1: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meg Walker I believe they took a decent amount from the Silmarillion...though I haven't the stamina to read that one yet, so I can't be sure.

Maricarmen Estrada M I know! But I still prefer the book. It's wonderful!

Gianfranco Montebello The movies depressed me, for this is such an amazing book

Marjan I'm going to the Battle of the five armies today wooo!!

message 5: by Tara (new) - added it

Tara Thomas They added sooo much to the movies. There is the huge conflict between the orcs and Oakenshield which I don't remember being in the book. And they added some stuff so the characters from lord of rings could have a part and so it could all be related back to those books and movies. I love the movies and the book, glad you enjoyed it!

Vic It was very well written and I love how it relates to the bible in a way. But I think its so boyish and violent. Thats just me. Don't get offended its just that Im not a boy im a girl and im into dramatic love and dystopian books not the typical war and mystical creatures sorta thing ya know what I mean. But I give this book like 3.5 stars because Jr Tolkien kept me reading that book till the end and thats pretty impressive knowing that I'll dump a book when i start to get bored or hate it just for the slightest second.

Olivia VanSteenberg I LOOOOVE THE BOOK AND AM WAITING TO SEE THE MOVIE!!!
