I was interested in this book because of the secret identity trope. The hero pretends to be a footman in the heroine's household to find evidence that the heroine's husband drew an incorrect map of his (the hero's) country home, which caused him to lose his land to his neighbor. Something along those lines.

When the heroine discovers his true identity, (view spoiler)[she is hurt, of course, and I like that she doesn't immediately forgive him and takes time to trust him again. I like that the hero understands that he was in the wrong and patiently waits for her to learn to trust him again. Meanwhile, he does everything he can to make her happy, which I think is so sweet and romantic. (hide spoiler)]

Overall, the book is just okay.
