Kayla Luck and Kane McDermott are thrown together when he is assigned as the detective looking into her business, Charmed!, and its possible connections to prostitution. Disguised as a potential client seeking help learning how to handle upper-class customers, Kane approaches Kayla and convinces her to coach him personally. After a dinner and baseball game, Kane determines that there is no “secret” ring behind the Charmed! services but the electricity between him and Kayla is definitely there and something neither of them can resist. After spending a hot night together, Kane makes the mistake of ensuring that Kayla is authentic by trying to pay her for her professional services which she takes as an insult and walks out.
From that point on, Kayla’s life takes a different track and becomes endangered so Kane is assigned to protect her. The investigation into the business moves forward and Kane and Kayla struggle with their feelings while their backgrounds and family histories play a big part in their struggles.
