I liked Divine by Mistake for the most part, but any time Shannon/Rhea spoke and started dreaming I got a little cranky. Shannon/Rhea has word vomit and never makes an effort, even before her identity is revealed to fit it. For a 35 year old woman, she speaks a lot like a 17 year old did in the late nineties. Kudos to ClanFintan for putting up with her incessant chatter.

I will say that the actual story arc is good and really kept me invested. I loved Alanna and ClanFintan, Dougal and Victoria and all the other characters that helped to populate Partholon and lead Shannon/Rhea through the culture. Definitely a vivid world that pulls from different mythological traditions, and does it well, to create something new.

Shannon/Rhea, despite my frustrations with her, is a strong woman who wants to improve her people's opinion of Rhiannon, and she rises to the occasion when faced with disease and war. Her reactions to the epidemic are realistic, but as with the Fomorians, she reacts like any average person and then takes stock of the situation and takes charge.

Laurie I think she sounds like a teen because she spent most of her time with teens, before getting pulled into the other world that is :) .

Sarah True, but she is still supposed to be an english teacher.
And I have a hard time finding any proper english anywhere ;)
