I wanted to love this so badly but it was sooooo boring I just couldn’t do it anymore 😭😭😭 I think I prefer this authors books in short story format, this just felt unnecessarily long.

message 9: by Marisol (new) - added it

Marisol I also DNFed it

message 10: by Lisa (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lisa oh crap. I have it for my October read. That doesn't bode well if you thought it was dull.

message 11: by Kayla (new)

Kayla dawson I have started this book three times and I have fallen asleep every single time.

Julie Haydu Same. Stopped just after 100 pages.

message 13: by Monica (new) - added it

Monica M M I had received an e-arc a few months ago and was excited to read this. But I only made it through the first few chapters as I was board and found the dialog so unrealistic it was annoying me. I intended to try to pick it up again but have had no desire to do so.

Morgan Hedglin I am also bored at page 100, but will probably still finish.

Layla It was a drag, but eventually I finished it.

꧁Brittan y ꧂ 228 pages, just bored as dirt. 😞

message 17: by Stacey (new) - added it

Stacey I'm so thankful that I'm not the only one who DNF this! I really really wanted to like it and was so excited by the premise. Made it about halfway just like you and just had to stop. Too many other books sitting on my shelf right now.

message 18: by B (new) - rated it 2 stars

B I finished it, but it wasn’t worth it. I’m shocked because I loved his last book so much.

message 19: by Zack (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zack Last name (optional) Y’all don’t get slow burn and it shows. 😅 , don’t a Dnf review scare you off of this one. The last quarter of the book is extremely rewarding and the build up really pays off with character development.

message 20: by Sal (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sal Oh darn, the non-stop action happens right after the 250 mark, too.

Austin Dolan the worst part is, this could've and should've been great. and it was only alright.
for a slowburn to work, you still have to give the reader SOMETHING to keep reading for. some lingering questions, or interesting plotting. and if you're going to go off topic, it still has to be somewhat plot related.
everything interesting/engaging was in the last 100 or so pages. by then it's tough to care.

Sabrina (Sabrina's Spellbooks) You didn't miss much. 75% of the book is just the main character talking about slashers movies. Boring. The ending was fine, not all of what I wanted to see. But it ended better than I thought it would.

message 23: by John (new) - rated it 4 stars

John William Young Seriously? I thought the book was actually good.

HorrorBabe911 I just felt like Jade talked to much she confused me half of the time. I pushed through the whole book but just gave it 2stars 😓

message 25: by Summer (new) - added it

Summer I don’t think I’d call this book a slow burn, especially since it’s more reading about her rambling love for slasher movies and not really anything interesting to the story.

message 26: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Carey I'm right there with you. I made it to 200 pages. Glad it isn't just me.

Jessica It took me soo long to finish. And I didn’t really get into it till about page 300. I wasn’t satisfied with the ending either.

message 28: by Abbi (new) - rated it 2 stars

Abbi Saiya A lot of words for nothing. Bummer.

Jennilyn Wuerstle I thought it was boring too. Very disappointed

message 30: by Kyle (new) - rated it 1 star

Kyle Baxter This book literally put me in a reading slump it was that fucking bad. One of the worst and poorly written books ever
