This is the first time I honestly don't know how to rate a book!
Part of me wants to give this story ONE star, while another part of me wants to give it FIVE stars because of the emotions it evoked in me. I will say the hero did redeem himself (mostly) but he will NEVER be a favorite of mine.
Full review and rating to come

"I'm ready to start this book but I'm not looking forward to reading it. I really, really hate the hero! But, if anyone can change my mind, Kresley Cole can. She's just got her work cut out for her with this one!"

"Okay, deep breath. I've waited two year to read because I HATED Declan so much after I finished Demon from the Dark that I just couldn't read Declan and Regin's story. Well, the audible version was finally released two days ago and I decided it was time to bite the bullet and read (listen) to his book. Well, as of right now...I freaking HATE Declan, just like I knew I would. I hate him! I hate him! I hate him!"

I'm not sure when I'll have the review done. I still don't know how I feel about it. It's odd when you want to give a book 1 star but also a 5 star. :)

Well, I understand. I have read most of the books in the series, but not this one. Loved Demon. Loved Lothaire. Loved Dusk. Liked all the rest, too. But couldn't even stomach the notion of Declan as a hero, after what he did to the prisoners on the island. Wonder why Cole created such a characterization dilemma.

I agree, Kathleen. I was wondering the same thing while reading Declan's book. I couldn't figure out why Cole created this plot-line. Aidan was such a fantastic character and the love story between him and Rigan was so beautiful that I felt robbed when Aidan and Rigan ended up with Declan as the end result. He did redeem himself but I still hold no love for his character. How I see it, Cole basically created a Nazi General with a horrible background, added some brainwashing for sympathetic purposes, then hope that would make us fall in love with him in the end. Some readers did love him, but his action brought the plot and characters into real life for me and I just couldn't look past what happened. I still don't know how I feel about this book. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. I have no idea when I'll get this review done. I really struggled with this book.
