really liked it
bookshelves: audiobooks

If you're looking for incredibly original sci-fi short stories, look no further!

This time I felt like a lot of these were possible futures linked to technology that reminded me a bit of "Black Mirror", maybe less dark though.

Would recommend.

Kalii07 Have you tried Ken Liu's sci-fi short stories? I think you'd enjoy them.

Natalija Knaidele Spot on! I’ve also thought about these stories being like Black Mirror - independent, but also related through the topics of AI, time, human character...

Elisha I want to describe these stories as “if Black Mirror were actually good,” though I think that may ruffle the feathers of the fanbase.

To me Black Mirror is science if science were filtered by Buzzfeed - pure clickbait sensationalism. Exhalation is the real deal. Highly thought provoking and extremely fine detailed, can’t recommend highly enough.

I’d recommend Klara and the Sun. I think that novel would hit better as a short story, but it is quite similar in tone/theme to Chiang.

Saeed Elisha, I beg to differ with you on Black Mirror. I don't know where you live, but that show was addressing social issues of the people. Issues that are real and solutions that could be stained by considering those problems.

I don't know how this book has become do popular. The first story rather sounded cliche to me. I come from the same culture of the people in the story. It reminded me of the fatalism of the eastern cultures. Didn't enjoyed it AT ALL.

Morgan Leland I totally felt the Black Mirror—lite vibe.

Jenny T Yea I thought about Black Mirror as well, but way less heavy in execution.
