IN FROM THE COLD: (Nora Roberts) I have never read any of the MacGregor stories by this author. It takes place in 1774 with Ian meeting his future wife during the opening of the American Revolution. It was readable but nothing special.

MIRACLE OF THE HEART: (Patricia Potter) This is a thin story about two men in love with the same woman. One man is on the Union side and the other wears the Confederacy uniform.

The ONLY thing I found interesting about this tale revolved around the suffering of the civilians. Many civilians starved during the Civil War because the warring parties stole, confiscated or burned their foodstuffs. This story made a point of the scarcity of food.

CHRISTMAS AT BITTER CREEK: (Ruth Langan) Laura Connors is alone and almost overwhelmed with the work on her farm plus teaching. When Matthew Braden comes to Bitter Creek (he and his brothers grew up there), he’s seriously injured. Laura takes care of his wounds, knowing he will ride out again.

This is a special story about second chances; this one is my favorite of the trio.
