Reid (Vested Interest, #4)

Reid, my lost boy. I cried for you. Reid never had a family. His childhood was one loss after another. As a teenager he finally found a home and someone to care about him, but that too was taken from him. The one thing Reid held on to was computers and his ability to bend them to his will. In an effort to prove himself, Reid used his computer skills illegally. Though Reid paid for those choices, he still lives with the consequences every day. Helping Reid overcome the mistakes of his past is the family he has found with BAM. In Bentley, Maddox, and Aiden he has found support, guidance, and acceptance. Now Reid has found something even more. He has found Becca.
Becca has come to work with BAM from an advertising company hired to help with BAM’s new campaign. (If you want to know more about Richard and Katy check out The Contract!) Becca is excited to live in a big city and the opportunity of working with the people at BAM. She is especially excited after meeting Reid. From the moment Becca and Reid meet there is a connection. She is waiting for him to make the first move. Reid wants Becca. He wants her in a way he has never wanted another woman, but he doesn’t feel he is worth her, given his past mistakes. Reid can’t resist his feelings for Becca. (And let me just say that when Reid puts his mind to something he goes straight to the head of the class.) Reid’s continued doubts about his worthiness effect his relationship with Becca. But Becca is willing to fight for what she wants, and she wants Reid and the future they might have with each other.
Reid and Becca have overcome so much in their short time together, but there are battles yet to be won. Becca’s father is an overprotective former police officer who has distinct views of “criminals”. He makes his opinions known to Reid and Becca, especially when Becca is the victim of a crime and Reid wants to use his special set of skills to address the issue. Reid is faced with an impossible choice, but in his heart he knows he first priority must always be what is best for Becca. Reid’s journey helps him grow so much through out this book. He comes into himself and learns to forgive his past choices. Reid’s growth has only strengthened his feelings for Becca and his relationship with his BAM brothers.
This book. I cried, laughed, yelled, groaned…changed my panties. Reid “Fucking” Matthews. I love him. I love Reid and Becca’s relationship. But, my secret? My favorite part of the book? The relationship between Reid and the BAM boys. It touches my heart. The lost little boy that still exists in Reid’s heart wanted a family. He wanted to be wanted and needed. Ms. Moreland so accurately portrays the emotions and thoughts that linger with children who have lived in the foster care system that it brought me to tears. Ms. Moreland evokes so many emotions for me with the realism that she brings to her characters and their journeys. She obviously writes from her heart and her own experiences, bringing a richness to her work that shines through every word.
