really liked it
bookshelves: based-on-another-story, fairy-tales, y-a

what a great twist on Beauty and the Beast!!
It was similar enough you know it is batb but different enough I wasn’t bored and predicting every turn
I really enjoyed it but not as much as some retellings or the author’s other books
I realized I have never read a book where any character, let alone the protagonist, had cerebral palsy!!! I personally can’t speak for the rep, but in the dedications, the author said she used her best friend as a reference and had a sensitivity reader as well, so I’m fairly certain people will be happy with it.
I loved Harper so much, and she felt like she was right next to me, tell her story.

I liked Rhen, but some moments he felt flat to me.

Same with Grey, but there were more moments he fell flat with me.

There were things I predicted that I wanted to happen that did not . . . I was a little disappointed

Although it is open ended for more, I didn’t finish it desperately needing the next, although I will get it when it comes out.

Deliciously evil bad guy, just terrible

And I loved the magic magic, it was nice and soft and no explaining sciencey principles over and over

The romance was sweet, but she is teasing a love triangle I’m not very happy about … (confirmed there is no love triangle on her page for the next book!!!)

If you like Beauty and the Beast retellings, this is a must read!!!!

If you like portal fantasies and soft magic, you will totally like this book!!!
