2.5 stars — OK some parts, likeable on others.

I think authors need to be careful with written humor since as we know from texting experiences, it doesn't always translate well. The first paragraph immediately had me on the defense and sorta closed me up a bit until I warmed up to April's humor.

Her humor was fun but sometimes too much at once (like the part with signing on an agent and whether or not she's eaten babies... we get it... legality documents aren't always fun but there were already jokes prior with the weapons carved from children's bones).

Now for the good stuff: I liked the basis of the book in that despite the small percentage of humans that are "one-offs," the generalization is that humanity is good and works best as a team. I also liked how honest April was characterized (e.g. sexuality, imperfect relationships, etc). The Dream was a fun piece to the story that I wish could become an interactive computer game so we can experience it too!
