really liked it
Read 2 times. Last read January 22, 2024 to March 3, 2024.

words cannot describe the love i have for this book. i read it first ten years ago (when i was 7), and after many times trying to read it again after, i finally did. i can’t believe i waited 10 years to read such a masterpiece again.

i grew up with the movies (so much better than the show btw) and this book was just like the movie!! most moments were similar but the writing absolutely blew me away.

this book feels so nostalgic in that i feel as if i’m coming home to old friends.

i lowered my rating a little because there were some minute tweaks they made in the movie that i preferred, such as the dialogue in the closing scene, and it impacted my overall enjoyment (only a little) because i kept holding out for them! but all in all it’s an incredible story. the movie really brings this book to life, which aided my enjoyment of this book because i could picture the characters and the way the speak and express themselves. these characters are ones i’ll revisit often, and i cannot wait to read the sequels!

i don’t know what crack is in a book that was written over 100 years ago, but it’s arguably my favorite classic. i felt the whole spectrum of emotions while reading this book, and i’m so sad it’s over now.
