did not like it

As much as I wanted to like this book...I didn't. Upon finishing I did some belated research on the author and it isn't good. In fact his Wikipedia page has been deleted (How does that happen?...check it out and find out) and he is not well reviewed on websites which evaluate spiritual teachers. His PhD is from the now closed Columbia Pacific University which has been charitably described as a diploma mill. This doesn't make him a bad man and there is an occasional nugget of insight in 368 pages which are otherwise awash in simplistic anecdotes and outlandish unsubstantiated claims. I'm letting go now.

Red Hand You did better than me. I couldn't finish it.
I never return books but I returned that one.

message 2: by Sharon (new) - added it

Sharon Wyman-rogers There is a Wikipedia page for David R. Hawkins that dates back to at least July 2015. This is the link https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_R.... It was originally written in German so I had to have it translated to English.

Spencer-Rae I agree - thanks for doing the research. I am not surprised by what you found.

Dean Paradiso I didn't get a lot from reading this either. The idea has been done better by others. I'm always amazed that there's a large group of people that seemed to have been roped into DH's theories of the universe and attribute him as being some sort of great teacher. There's very little practical import in any of his books, apart from his strange ratings scale.

Diego Can someone recommend a similar book with a more pragmatic approach?

Spencer-Rae @Diego, I haven’t found one yet, but I did really enjoy “Happy” by Derren Brown. Well researched and thought through and some good nuggets of wisdom. One I remember - “learn to desire what you already have, and you will have all that you need”. It’s not the same sort of book, but it’s an excellent read.

Amber Yes, I completely agree. Your review validated me so much. I was starting to wonder if I’m just too close minded. I had such high expectations as this book has been recommended to me by many people. I wasn’t expecting this to be hard science, but was still a bit disappointed and turned off by how “fluffy” and vague it was. Maybe I’m not it’s target audience!

I’m not one to give away books but after finishing this I immediately started thinking of places/people who may be able to derive more joy from this than I did.
