Didn't know Claremont wrote for Star Trek! The Federation, Romulan and Klingon Empires must band together to face an alien threat! Lost connections found again over decades, distrust, creepy aliens, this one has it all. The only thing confusing was at times I didn't know whether to read to the right or go below, the panels got jumbled up at times and just be clear when it'a change of time. I realized that things were in the past looking at the outfits, maybe a bit more clear when a shift like that happens....more

Russian, orphan, with one arm, Nadya is adopted by an American family. With mixed results, she acclimates, but has a special affinity with turtles. When she notices something amiss with one particular turtle that has the words 'Be sure' on its shell....she then goes on an adventure like any other to the Drowned World of Belyyreka.

Fate brings the two together when Abby's Dad goes to Honduras to teach the residents proper scuba diving techniques when harvesting lobsters to prevent the bends. Although the two youngsters have a reluctant friendship at first, they bond over Barana's activisim for the leatherback turtles who nest near her home. A mystery unfolds as poachers get the turtle's eggs.
Enjoyable book. A touch of magic realism that I feel wasn't necessary. ...more

"The Thin Man is a murdery mystery that doubles as a sophisticated comedy of manners." That's what it says on the back. I wouldn't call it a sophisticated comedy. Sure there are quips and a few zingers, but wouldn't call it quite comedic. And that's ok.
Nick and Nora Charles just want to enjoy time away from home but they're drawn into a murder mystery that involves their past and new folk. ...more
