Lovely art and the story balanced humour with such an interesting yet sad story. I’m not all too familiar with Irish history so it was good to learn about someone through graphic novel, however I feel like the story was a little hard to follow sometimes and for someone pretty new to Irish history it was tough to take everything in when the story oscillated between timelines. ...more

Well. Insufferable rich kids are fed up of getting everything and so turn to more diabolical means of getting excitement because they feel they’re entitled to it. But short. And mid.
I didn’t really know what to expect but this wasn’t it. I felt as though this would have made a much better longer story than one condensed to 200 pages due to the fact it just feels as though the writer is condoning some of the deplorable actions going on.
Aspects of the book had some nice writing but most of it was rather matter of fact which I’m not such a fan of. Still intrigued in reading more of Ellis’ work though so I can make a fair judgement of him as I quite enjoyed ‘Lunar Park’. ...more

This was an emotional whirlwind for sure. Definitely not what I was expecting, but raised some interesting points. I found it a bit troublesome to follow due to the oscillating between characters and timelines, and I definitely think there was too much packed in there that wasn’t really explored enough (basically, it could have benefited by being a bit longer)....more

What I liked: simple (yet confusing) writing style making it easy to read & ig girls being weird despite the trope being overdone
What I disliked: the fact that everything but nothing happened, the writing style wasn’t particularly interesting, in the beginning chapters of the book the girls just come across as ‘not like other girls’ (this does not disappear but becomes less nauseating), at the same time, the girls not being weird enough??? and the ending :/
I really would have preferred for this book to be more cliché!!!! this just seemed like it was trying too hard to be different whilst also having mid versions of key characteristics relating to similar books. ...more
A large and very exhausting book to read. I can’t lie, nothing really happens in it LMAO. I mean, a lot does happen but it’s just a l3.75/5 (rounded)
A large and very exhausting book to read. I can’t lie, nothing really happens in it LMAO. I mean, a lot does happen but it’s just a lot of a man trying to piece together a mystery of sorts. I am disappointed that there wasn’t more to it, but I did quite enjoy the journey of trying to find out exactly what happened. That said, I wasn’t such a fan of how every character sounds the same despite very clear age differences… I also was hoping to hear from Robert more and for there to be a better explanation for everything. ...more

That said, I really struggled to read some parts of this book largely due to the way it was laid out. There were some very interesting photos of people and sources, but they often were in inconvenient places making it hard for me to follow. ...more
