Sage and Brody have been best friends since they were teenagers. Both have feelings for each other but were afraid to ruin their friendship if it didn't work out. But the moment danger came knocking on Sage's door, Brody decided the fear of losing her was worse than the fear of rejection. He'd do anything to have the privilege of having Sage by his side for the rest of their lives. But before they can get to their HEA, they'll have to face the danger dogging their heels head on. And no one had better stand in their way.

Y'all. I love the Texas Team! We have seen glimpses of them in other books and now we finally get to see them in action. The Texas Team is a special one. Not only do each of them have their own unique set of skills, they are also the only Fortress Security team to have never been in the military. Their background is all law enforcement. I'm excited to see what they will bring to the teams.

This was a good start to seeing into the lives of the Texas Team. Within this book you get a sneak peek into who two of Brody's teammates will be wooing. Since this book didn't really tie up all the lose ends, I'm guessing it will continue on in their books.

While I enjoyed this book, I have to admit that it was a bit predictable. To me, it seems like the same pattern is followed for every book. I guess in a way it's kind of nice to know what I'm getting into, but I would love to be caught off guard and on the edge of my seat because I don't know what's going to happen next.

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres to read. Sadly, there aren't very many clean authors who write what I enjoy. So whenever a book by Ms. Deel is released, my schedule is cleared and real life just ceases to exist until I get to see that HEA at the end of the book. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Texas Team. It's been a long time coming!

As for my casting.... *dreamy sigh* Love them! What do you think?

It’s no secret that I love this author’s books. I’ve read every book in each of her series, so I was thrilled to see this newest one. I enjoyed the action and suspense in this one, although it was a lot less than in most of her other books (mostly in the end). I do wish there would have been a bit more to this story, as it follows the typical pattern of her more recent books. I would love to see her branch out and try writing a more unique story (especially where the romance is concerned). Still, an overall good read, and it already sets you up for the next two books about the Texas team.

Fast Paced, Action Packed

Fast paced, action packed. This is an author and series I know I can count on for romantic suspense. Heroes are strong, loyal and brave. They are protective and good to their strong, capable women. It's easy to read these books.

DNF. Sage and her sister are really really annoying, & the plot is just ridiculous.

I don’t even know where to start as it’s so bad. The plot is all over the place. Shootouts with loads of baddies, again, then nothing happens. Do the baddies just give up when they realise Fortress is involved?? There’s a lot of investigating everyone that Sage and her sister knows. Including their father. There’s a really weird scene with Brody and Sage. As he describes how her father might have plotted to have her killed. WHY?? JUST WHY WOULD HE SAY THAT?? Brody grew up with Sage and knows her dad. Yes investigate him, but don’t go through a whole scenario of wanting Sage dead. 😡😡😡 Out of all the books I have read, that is one of the weirdest paragraphs I’ve ever read!

Safe and Brody grew up next door to each other. They have both had feelings for each other, but for whatever reason neither have acted on them. Brody has never dated anyone as he’s so in love with Sage. 😂😂😂 He’s nearly forty and he’s never dated anyone?? At all??? This author has some weird ideas on what men are like!!! He would have either moved on and dated other women, or strapped on his ba*ls and spoke to Sage about his feelings. Seeing as they speak on the phone all the time!!

Anyway back to the sort of plot. When Sage is attacked in her house, and someone is murdered in her house, Sage is accused of doing it! The police interview her for hours as they suspect her, yet Sage was unconscious on the floor! IT JUST DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE!! This author seems to really dislike the police, and writes them all as stupid and inept.

After a gripping beginning, and Sage and Brody declaring they’re dating, it drones on and on. With nothing happening except Poppy (Who is Sage’s sister.) being a total bi*ch all the time and Sage just goes along with it. Then the plot takes a weird turn and it just gets silly.

So after me persevering through pages and pages of monotony, it gets really silly!!! I couldn’t finish it, and I don’t even care who the baddie is. Though I’ve got a strong suspicion who it is.

One final note. Why does this author write about people agreeing to date, as though they are teenagers? In every book, the man asks the woman if she’ll date him, then the team celebrates like they’re getting married! It’s beyond weird. With the men cheering like he’s proposed!

Thank you, Ms. Deel! Finally the Texas Team!

Wow, what a beginning!
Seems since the Texas team made their cameos I have been dying for their novels. And, what an incredible start. Daughter of the VP, and the man who saved her from a kidnapping as a young girl. Obviously, together they are meant to be, however, never let it be said that A Fortress Security novel is simple.
Abduction, cartels, very much a wicked step-mother (may I be harsh to say , in her case what goes around comes around...) and suspense, danger, frankly this book had it all.
There was such evil in this one, almost thriller like, yet everything Ms. Deel means another Fortress Security novel worth ten stars, yet am limited to five.
Brody, obviously is the only man for Sage. He knows her, has always cared, and whose daughter she is makes no difference. But, Sage, she is no little weak individual. Anyone dealing with autoimmune disease cannot be. She proves how strong she is by her support of Brody's job, and concern for him and his team. Together they make an incredible couple.
Brody's novel is the first in the Texas Team, and frankly I am thrilled and so excited for the next!

As usual, Ms. Deel, please write it, I will be dying to read!

Loved!

Firstly, this book is clean, no profanity, no sex. There was one scene that described a very passionate kiss but all the other kisses (and there are many) are mentioned in passing.
Now, I love a devoted, caring, protective masculine alpha male, but this was overkill. Brody was ULTRA! His care for Sage was so doting, it became a bit obnoxious. The other kissing mentioned in the book after that passionate one, is so repetitive I just found myself skipping over it. And his protectiveness was so extreme at times that some of things he said and did were just flat out cliché and nauseating. Though, I will mention that there are a few pretty swoon worthy lines in here.
My other issue lied in the fact that there was too much explaining of plans, conspiracies and just brainstorming. I actually like reading about these things, but this was WAY more than I cared to read about over and over.

An amazing read!!!

I love this author and have read fortress and otter creek series 3-4 times. That's a definite indication of an extremely talented author. This book captured my interest so completely that I read it in one day!!!! So much passion, excitement, suspense and of course romance. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire Fortress Security, Otter Creek and Maple Valley series. I can't wait to read the rest of Texas teams stories!

Phew, Brody Weaver is steaming hot!

Yes, he is gorgeous but as with most Fortress employees it is the care, empathy and need to protect others that makes him so attractive.
Texas Team may not be brothers like M Team but they are just as close, which is good with the relationships that are forming in this book. You have to love this team of protectors and their sassy women. I read this on Kindle Unlimited

another great book

Another great book! I was anxiously awaiting another book by this author and this one did not disappoint.

I love the sweet romance in these books. I felt like this story also had more twists and turns with the suspense than some of her previous books.

I really like how she writes about characters with different disabilities and health issues. However, would love to see more racial diversity as well.

Awesome!!!

Another great book by my favorite author, Rebecca Deel! I love, love, love her books and after I finish one I can't wait for the next one to be published. I love the characters in her books and the way she brings the characters from previous books into the new ones. I hope she writes more books in the Otter Creek series, which was my favorite, the characters are like old friends and family and I would like to know more about how their lives now.

Get Ready for a Bumpy Ride

This book was nonstop action from beginning to end. Secrets, backstabbing, and the quest to find the truth and the culprits. Ms. Deel wrote a story with so many twists and turns that it took the effort of almost all of the teams to save the day. I loved Brody and Sage together and I loved the secondary chapters as well. I hope there will be follow up stories for Max and Logan.

This author is a good writer but, just like other reviewers have said, she is SO FORMULAIC! EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of her books has the guy getting shot and the woman getting kidnapped. Why can’t she come up with something original?! I’m giving it 4* only because it’s what I would rate it if I hadn’t read any of her other work as it would stand on its own, for its own value as a piece of work. Otherwise, I would rate it much less.

Amazing as usual

MS deel did it again. The story is riveting and thrilling at the same time. You can feel that the mission is very personal since the hvts are all connected to Brody since childhood. I also loved that we had The front row seat when Logan and max found their partners for life. Can't wait to read their stories.

Love Fortress Security…

…and once again Rebecca has delivered a winner. The attack on Sage is only the beginning and continues with Brody and his team and Sage’s sister and their friend. It takes a while to figure out whats going on and, of course, Fortress to the rescue. Thanks Rebecca - looking forward to your next book😊.
