I strongly suggest reading the previous books however, it isn’t necessary to read them because they can read as standalone, but you do get to know all the secondary characters. This is their oldest brother’s story. Lazarus is sexy as all get out oldest brother, an alpha through and through, takes his responsibilities to heart that includes protecting, keeping his family save the only way to do that is the relieve the world of his very vile man they call father. Sasha has so much personality, I like that she is strong and don’t allow anyone to really push her around, but she does respect the alpha in her friend’s son. Let’s put this out there their father enjoys hurting his sons, he sexually abused one of his sons to try and gain his loyalty but in reality, it totally messed him up and Lazarus isn’t going to allow him to hurt any of his other brothers. So, back to Ms. Sasha she came to Chicago to one get a little rest and two work on US soil for a while when she gets a call from an old friend asking her to help with a project but what she didn’t know was her friend has a son named Lazarus the one man she has been dreaming of for a while but coming face-to-face with him has the desired affect but it also rattles his cage. Oz feels the same way, but he can’t allow himself to involve her because he wants no danger coming to her because his evil, crazy father is still on the run, and he is know for kidnapping his own family. Buckle up this is a wild ride just like the previous books they will keep you on the edge of your set with the suspense, but will they finally catch their father, will he pay for all the crimes committed and is it Oz’s tired to find happiness?

This was such a bittersweet read for me. Having read all the previous instalments, I connected with this band of brothers and looked forward to following each one as they got their own book. So, knowing this was the last book in the series was a little sad- I was sooo not ready to say goodbye…. But at the same time, I desperately wanted to know how things would finally play out, but more importantly, getting a front row seat to the ‘Oz’ show- and what a fantastic show it was!! Ms. Kells definitely had me completely engrossed in the story- I devoured the book in a couple of hours, just so I could find out what happens.
King Bastard is the sixth and final book in the Dark Sparrow series by India Kells. It is an addictive romantic suspense- full of action, adventure, tension, danger, chemistry, intrigue, gripping developments, emotion, drama, complex characters, sizzling encounters, romance, family dynamics, agendas, and so much more. As expected, the story is superbly written, with a complex and multi-layered storyline that was so much more than I anticipated. What a way to wrap up the series! I loved every intense minute!!
I highly recommend this book- but if you have yet to read the rest of the series, I really recommend that you do as each book helps to build a bigger picture- trust me- you will find that one story is not enough! Prepare to develop an India Kells addiction!
Even though this instalment wraps up this series and I am sad to say goodbye, I know Ms. Kells will have something amazing in the works that will be just as enjoyable and addictive as this series has been. She never fails to deliver the goods! So excited to see what she does next!
Happy reading!

Thank you, India Kells!

The last book in the series and it was spectacular! I could not put it down, and when it ended I was sooo disappointed that this was the last one. I fell in love with every brother in this series, but Lazarus King stole my heart!
Lazarus is the oldest brother, and he was determined to end things with his father once and for all. With his brothers settled he vowed to protect them, and to keep this battle out of their reach. When Dr. Sasha Landry lands in his sights again she becomes his ally, and also the women he loves. With an even more fierce determination he now must protect his brothers and the women he loves, and he is ready to do what needs to be done at any cost.
Prepare for steam, suspense, action, and a love like no other.

This book completes the series. It feels a bit rushed and you should read the rest of the series! Though it is great to see how Sasha and Lazarus end up together. Love how Finch was resolved as well. All series by this author are fantastic and this is the only book I gave less than 5 stars. I received an ARC copy from the author.

King Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel Book 6) by India Kells

5 out of 5 Stars

In this series finale, the author is able to wrap up all loose ends and bring all the characters together. I enjoyed this series from beginning to end!

Lazarus King is the eldest of the bastard sons. Lazarus’ plan to find and end his father led him to find all 5 of the other brothers. Now as the danger is finally closing in with his father on the run, Lazarus has pushed everyone away, determined to finish their father on his own. The only person that stands in the way of that is Sasha Landry.

Sasha Landry came back to Chicago to rest. Sasha didn’t expect that coming back to the closest place she can call home would put her in the crosshairs of danger. Sasha has been off using her medical skills in some remote part of the world. She is back and decides to stay with a colleague from her time overseas. The last thing she expected was that her colleague turned out to be the mother of the one man Sasha can’t see to get out of her mind.

Together, Sasha and Lazarus must figure out the latest plan of his father while keeping the brother and their loved ones safe. Will Sasha’s resilience keep her safe? Can Lazarus let go enough to allow his brothers to help bring down the man that sired them?

The author does not disappoint in suspense or twists! There are lots of both to be had. Be prepared to sit on the edge of your seat until the end. The only bad thing about this book is that it is the end of the series and my time with these characters. I will always be a Dark Sparrow in my heart!

I loved this author's writing, they made the story flow so easily, it was so easy to get hooked and lost in the story and the characters, there was so much to knot, and a want to know so very much more! I loved the character growth I saw, the sorry was interesting and yet addictive at the same time!

I think the thing I loved most as well as truly enjoyed about this novel, is the emotions that went along with this book. With Lazarus and his love, you did not just hear the words he spoke of how he felt about her, you literally lived it. It was a mind sweeping romance of love and passion, that was more than real, and was something so easily to visualize! I loved the emotions the author made the reader feel!

The suspense the novel gave me regarding Lazarus and his life style was so intriguing, honestly I have to say it was off the wall amazing. From passion and romance to danger and action, it was the perfect bundle of what I wanted. This book was very enjoyable and freaking amazing! It kept me hooked on every word and every turn, it was a great, fun and fast pace read, loved every minute of this ride.

I loved this book truly, and this is one if your into the romantic suspense reads as I am you for sure will devour this book as I did. This author is truly gifted and knew what they were doing as they built the story and plot! Amazing read! Defiantly a high recommendation, this one is very much worth a read!

I was so messed up when this book hit my kindle. I couldn't wait to read it yet didn't want to start it because I knew it was the end of another amazing series by this author. I literally love all of this author's books, and it might just be because I just finished this that I'm saying this is my favorite. I knew the ongoing story playing out in all these books was going to end in a really big way and I was right. This part though had me feeling every emotion possible. I held my breath more than once and fell in love with Lazarus and Sasha. Oz had already won my heart more than once and I couldn't wait for him to get his story. This was amazing, reconnecting with others from the previous books. Oz's mum was perfect in this book!

The twists and turns will have you pulling your hair out, the suspense, danger and I could literally feel the determination of these characters to finally put an end to it all.

This was a perfect ending to an amazing series, one that I can't wait to read again in the future back to back. Start from book 1, seriously..you need every story leading up to this one to get the full effect of what is happening. They are all quick reads mainly because once you pick each one up you won't want to put it down and the next thing you know you're finished. This author is amazing and I will always pick up any book she writes.

Sad that it's over! Can't wait to see what comes next!

I love love loved King Bastard! Now I know I have to go back and read books 1-5. This was the 1st book I read in the series and though it would’ve been nice to know the backstory going in, it still worked well if it were a standalone novel.
Lazarus and Sasha have so much tension and attraction between them that it comes out at the very beginning. The development of those 2 characters as a couple was beautiful, despite the anger, bullheadedness, the need to isolate, and the absolute need to protect.
Unfortunately for Sasha, Lazarus’ psychotic deadbeat dad is still out there, and though he’s lost everything he’s still very dangerous. Which is why Lazarus does everything to keep her at a 10 foot pole distance, but his resolve is breaking and he can’t deny how he feels for the good Dr any longer. Until Jamieson Finch is put to justice if it be behind bars or death, Lazarus needs to keep up the cold shoulder appearances to keep her safe. Is that really enough though?
Do Sasha and Lazarus finally admit how they feel?
What happens with Jamieson Finch?
Me personally I need to go learn the backstory of not only Mr. Finch but Lazarus’ other 5 brothers! As for the rest of you, it’s time to read book 6 or start at the beginning! I wish I did but hey book 6 was good and I’ll read it again in succession after reading books 1-5.

I am sad to see this series end. I'm excited to see what's next for this author.
This the 6th book in the story is the oldest of the King brothers. Lazarus's one goal in life is to protect his family. From his own father! I could not believe this man, the one to take care of his wife and children. Instead he made them pay for being in his selfish way. This story got me so twisted. There was the father, the brothers and their families. All trying to find their part in this story. Lazarus must put an end to his family's nightmare. Meanwhile his heart is beginning to open, while not the best time to. Lazarus might have found his soulmate, but can he protect one more person in his life? This was a fantastic series. Each one is better than the one before. There were so many suspenseful roller coaster rides. I was thrown into the depths of so many emotions. I recommend you read this series in order, even though they can be read as a standalone? I feel it's a must to get familiar with the whole family. As the end pulls the series to a close. No spoilers will be found. Read the Series, you will be glad you did.

This is the last book in the series and I'm so sad about that. These books have all been amazing and gripping stories and this one was no different. In this story we follow the final brother Lazarus King.

Lazarus is the oldest brother and he is the main person still out to get his father. With his brothers now settled with partners his focus is solely on protecting them and their loves and making sure the man who is a threat to them is stopped. However he plans to do this alone. He doesn't want his brothers involved and at risk and likewise he doesn't want to risk any one else.

What he didn't plan on was the love of his life being the fiesty doctor Sasha. Sasha is strong willed and just as determined to protect the man she loves as much as he wants to protect her.

Can they work together to stop the main causing them danger? Will Lazarus  let his brothers and Sasha in even though its dangerous? Or will Sasha rebel against Lazarus's protection and potentially put them all in danger?

King Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel by India Kells

This is not the first book I've read by the author. The Dark Sparrow Novels get better each one I read. King Bastard is by the far the best and we get to learn more about the head guy.

Lazarus is known for protecting his brothers from their father. So far each of them have found their happily ever after. Sasha came into his life when it was at his lowest and she just might be the best thing that has happened to him. The quote I chose for Lazarus is: “I didn’t know you’d worked with her so many times during your missions.”

Sasha comes back to the states after being away for a while. She gets a call from Lazarus' mother and now has a place to stay. Can she get through to Lazarus that they can be more than friends? The quote I chose for Sasha is: “Sorry. I don’t come home a lot, and when I do, my brain takes time to adjust. I compare the life here and back there, seeing the inequalities, and it blows my mind.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

This was a thrilling 5 star read. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. Lazarus (Oz) quickly became my favorite in this series.

Sasha comes to Chicago to work, she ends up getting a call from an old friend asking her to help with something. Little did she know who her friend's son was, Oz. When they came face-to-face old feelings came flooding back. You can feel the attraction between them but Oz tries to keep her at arms length to try and protect her. His crazy father is still on the loose and until he finds him none of his loved ones will be safe.

Will Oz be able to keep her safe? Will he finally give in to his feelings for her?

Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was the last one in the series. It can be read as a stand alone but it’s much better if you read them all. All of the characters added a great element to the story. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I look forward to reading more from her. If you're looking for a great series to read 1-click and get started today on this one.

I hadn’t read any of the previous books in the series and whilst that didn’t affect my reading in terms of understanding the secondary characters, there was clearly an underlying storyline which made up a large part of this book which I think it would been better had I understood the background more.

Regardless I enjoyed this story and found both characters to be well defined and given sufficient back story that I really felt I engaged with them as a couple. I also loved Elizabeth.

Sasha was such a strong character and I loved how she had dedicated her career to helping others at the detriment to herself. She was such an integral part of the friendship group.

Lazarus was a typical controlling alpha but one who had taken his responsibilities as the eldest too far and I liked how his brothers called him on that eventually.

A suspenseful story with enough thrill to keep you turning the pages

I have enjoyed the Dark Sparrow Novels, and this was no exception. I love the writing of this author. She pulls you in to the story and you don’t want to put it down until the story is finished. This is book six in the series, you could read as a standalone but for me I enjoyed the stories leading up to this one and getting all the back story.
Lazarus is the oldest brother of six and determined to finally take down his father, if he can find him. Sasha is a doctor whom Lazarus met in a previous book. Sasha is thrown back into his life when she shows up at his mother’s house. Lazarus has refused to admit that Sasha is the one person that can turn his world upside down. Admitting his attraction to her could mean she could be in danger too. He already has his brothers and their partners to protect, can he protect one more? More importantly, will Sasha let him protect her?
This book wrapped up this series very well, though I didn’t want it to end, this world is one I love to get lost in. Am excited to see where this author takes me next.

Okay y’all. Here it is. The END OF THE LINE for The Dark Sparrow Series. And hot damn what a series it was. And it ended with my favorite silver fox of them all- the yummy delicious Oz. 🤤 This author poured some heart soul sweat and tears into this book because I felt all the feels (as per usual with this author) and it was great. I’m just so glad we finally (not that i was in a rush because I’m sad it’s over 🥺) got his book! I’ve really enjoyed learning about his character throughout the series and Inwas almost worried his book would be too hyped up in my head- but it was fantastic. What a great one! And I canNOT finish this review without mentioning Sasha- I really enjoyed her character throughout the series and I’m glad to see her story be told too! She’s so sarcastic and funny- as so many of the Sparrows are. I loved this series and I’m sad to see it coming to an end- although the journey was pretty amazing. Check these out y’all! 💖

King Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel Book 6) by India Kells. I have loved this series and I am sad its over! India Kells is one of my go to authors and this book was as great as I expected it to be. This is story of Lazarus and man oh man, he's the perfect book boyfriend! Lazarus (Oz) and his brothers have almost taken down their father and they think they have protected everyone close to them. The one missing link is Sasha. When Oz almost died, Sasha helped nurse him back to life and the one thing he didn't expect was to grow feelings for her. Leaving her unprotected is the one thing their dad can hurt. The Chemistry between Oz and Sasha is off the charts and I couldn't put it down once I started reading. Oz will do whatever it takes to protect Sasha and I mean anything. Will Oz be able to keep Sasha safe and will they finally let their walls down to be together? Read King Bastard to find out!

I have read all the books in this series and this one was the one I was waiting for the dark mysterious Lazarus King and he has risen from the dead and with the help of his brothers they will defeat their enemy their father who has wreaked havoc on them and others.
He has been trying to find their father but its hard to find a needle in a haystack. He has made sure everyone is safe but he didn’t expect the unexpected and that’s Sasha Landry the doctor who has wreaked havoc on his heart and now she is gone.
Now these Bastard brothers have two missions one is to save Sasha and the other is to find and destroy their father. Will the brothers find these two together? Will it be to late for OZ to tell Sasha how he feels? Will the brothers finally destroy their father?
You will need to read this story to find out but I do recommend you read the series in order to fully get the series…

He was a lone wolf until he found his brothers, trying to take down there father he nearly lost them all. Now they all have families I can let them sacrifice themselves for my vendetta.

Sasha was my shining beacon even if she does not know, I can not let my father know I have a weakness but can I live my life without her.

I have loved this series and finally getting to read "Oz's" story was brilliant, I have always love Sasha as a secondary character and was the perfect pair with Lazarus. Sasha was full of sass and independence that only really could match the grumpy brother, this was brilliant that the story brought the softer side to him and I loved the interaction between the two of them.

The way the author weaved the web and the story through each of the books was brilliantly, I am sad that this is the end of the story and that we have to say goodbye to these great characters but can't wait to read more books by this wonderful author.

I liked this story, I didn’t love this story like I wanted to. Sasha and Lazarus have a bit of a stormy history with each feeling an unwanted attraction to the other. Lazarus is so myopic in his need to bring his father down that he has pushed everyone away, in the name of protection. Once these two stopped dancing around each other that side of the story picked up pace.

As not to give spoilers there was only one event that surprised me, the rest was pretty predictable at least it was to me. Things were almost shoved in your face for you to follow the dots. With the end closing in on their dad I was expecting more of a buildup and the tension just wasn’t there. Combine that with the anti-climactic end it all just fell flat for me. It was like the momentum just stopped and we had to hurry and wrap things up.

I foolishly started with book 6 of this series and while I loved the story and was able to follow it well, getting to know all the characters a little, I truly believe had I started from the very beginning my enjoyment would have been enhanced. I HIGHLY recommend starting from book 1 and reading the entire series... this exciting action packed world will captivate you from the very first word.
This story brings the events effecting all these wonderful characters to an exciting conclusion but especially the story of the very very Alpha Lazarus and the woman to capture his heart through all the turmoil, the Beautiful Dr Sasha. Lazarus seems to take on the weight of the world in this powerful story but Sasha is strong enough to see through all his walls to see the true Oz and together they will fight the battles before them.
If you are looking for something new to read this series is a MUST read from this fabulous author.

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. Her books always pull me in from the start. They are well written and her use of details make her stories realistic. This book is no different. I loved reading this book. It is a fast paced, engaging story that has characters that not only bring the story to life but are also unique and creative. This is the sixth book in this series which I highly suggest reading all of the previous books to help your enhancement of this series and this author’s writings. This is a romance-suspense story that I read in one sitting as it is that great. The characters are not only steamy but have great chemistry and growth throughout the story. I had no problems connecting with them and they made the story entertaining to read. This is truly a great book and a must read. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Fraught with danger and uncertainty, Lazarus and Sasha’s journey was not for the faint hearted. It was gripping, intense and fast paced. The chemistry between the two was palpable and it was a race against time to find their way through to their HEA. The story was well constructed and meticulously detailed. It was written with fierce determination and the love story to end all love stories was the target. Perfectly executed and a fantastic, well rounded tale that elevated the heart rate and stole my breath. Where nothing turns out quite as expected and tension lurks at every corner, the end game was to make it out alive and protect above all else. Throw in obligation, loyalty and monster slaying, you have yourself one cracker of a story. Never boring, never lacking. Always giving. 5 stars.

As with the other books in this series this one is a real page turner. The time has come to finally take down the Bastard that started it all. In this dark world they are sick of the games of cat and mouse, where suspense and danger are the name of the game. Where secrets and lies have ruined it all but now is the time for it to end. It is time to find and take out the cold hearted monster who has caused so much pain and suffering and rain down ruin and cause havoc. I was on the edge of my seat and kept turning the pages forgoing sleep as I had to know what was coming but with all the twists and turns you don't see what’s coming. The author paints a complex and multi layered story that is full of intrigue and action, lies and danger, hate and suspense, and so much more.
What would you do to keep all those you love safe?

5 stars!

Excellent ending to the Dark Sparrow series. I was happy to finally get to see what was going on with Lazarus and to see if he would get his own happily ever after. As with the first five books in the series, this author really has a way with getting you hooked. Sasha is such a strong and independent woman, and she seems like just the right type of woman that Lazarus would need by his side. The trauma she has to go through while being held captive and then fighting Jamison alongside everyone else makes her truly awesome to me. Lazarus, like all his brothers before, acts like Sasha needs protected and can’t defend herself, and I know it is all for fear of losing her, but we know she is a total baddie and could handle anything that is thrown at her. I wish the ending was a little more dramatic, but I was very satisfied especially with the epilogue.

This book was both very sad for me and a relief at the same time. While I didn't want this wonderful series to end, I couldn't wait to see how things played out for these wonderful characters. Just like the previous books in this series this book is addictive and full of suspense, romance, tension, danger and oh so much more. While this book can be read as a standalone u highly recommend reading the whole series, as it helps build the bigger picture. Lazarus is the oldest brother and he has vowed to protect his brothers, and keep a last battle from them. Then Sasha comes into play and Lazarus must not only keep his brothers safe but also the woman he loves. Will Lazarus be able to keep everyone safe and live his life with the woman he loves? Or will their father win this final battle? You'll have to read this book to find out.

This was my first book by India and I wasn’t disappointed. It was well written and thoroughly engrossing. Although it was the final book in the series, it worked well as a standalone and was easy to understand the plot premise. To finally bring down the bas••d brothers father, whether that be by imprisonment or by death. He had caused each of the brothers unforgivable pain and threatened the women they loved. Lazarus being the oldest of them, felt the pressure the most. He wanted his unusual family safe and with the unexpected return of the beautiful Sasha to his life, it was nice to dream of his own happily ever after. But was it just a dream or did the feisty, heroic doctor feel it too? An excellent read..

The end goal is close...but will he be able to finish what he started with her there

King Bastard is the sixth and last book in the A Dark Sparrow series. The story is about Lazarus King and Sasha Landry. He is the oldest of the brothers who he has found in the previous books as he has hunted for his father. Now there is only Sasha standing in his way of his ultimate goal, to kill his father, as his feelings for her upend his world. This series has an overarching story-line and characters that play parts in each story. Even though I had only read a couple of the previous books I was still able to enjoy this no stop action, drama, danger and suspense filled story, with a healthy dose of romance and passion.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Sasha has come back to the states and immediately starts getting crazy texts. When Elizabeth calls her with a offer she’s intrigued.

I swear you have a death wish, doctor. Reappearing like this? Only you have the power to flip my world upside down.”

Lazarus is trying to protect her from his crazy whacked out father. He’s willing to do anything.

“My darling, I’ve known for a while now. My son didn’t have to say much for me to guess how important you’ve become to him.

This story is filled with action packed suspense and super sexy alpha males. Strong capable woman and a evil psychotic bad guy.

Lazarus turned to her with an intensity that she could never doubt. “My dark sparrow, my own miracle.”

So here we have it the final book in this amazing series and what a book it was! I think probably my favourite book overall and I definitely didn’t want it to end. I was really excited to see where the author was going to take this final book and she definitely didn’t disappoint. I was completely captivated from beginning to end there was just so much going on that I couldn’t put the book down at all and read it in one sitting. I don’t think I was expecting Lazarus to steal my heart but her certainly did! The author had clearly taken so much time with the characters in this story because there were times where their words just leapt of the page with such depth of emotion.
This really was a fantastic ending to this series and one that I 100% recommend (both book and series!

This is the last book in this series and what an ending it was. Although I did not read all of the books (I think I missed the first two) I still fell right into the books, the characters, and continued from there. This book concentrated on Lazarus and Sasha. These two have been attracted to each other for a while but have pushed each other away because of personal priorities and misgivings. Finally they are doing something for themselves.
As with the other books, these characters pull you in and make you feel like you are a part of the story. And the connections these brothers have, although hard to grasp all the hurt and issues they have is amazing. The author did a wonderful job with this conclusion to the series.
