But when the niece Helena didn’t know existed is left on Everett’s doorstep, they all become targets. Zoe has been keeping lots of secrets from her twin sister during those three years of estrangement from her. When Everett finds a baby girl left in his cottage with a note from Zoe Helena can't help but face the truth. There's a lot she doesn't know about her twin. Is Zoe voluntarily involved with a crime ring that has been behind robberies of rich people in the area? Is she being forced to participate with this gang because they have threatened to harm her baby if she doesn't cooperate with them? Helena works with Everett to find Zoe and learn the truth. I thought this book was entertaining and an easy read. I'm usually a slow reader but I read this book in two days. I was drawn into the story and found it to be a captivating read. It was unpredictable as any good suspense story should be. I recommend this book to readers of Suspense and Love Inspired books. This is book four of the Alaska K-9 Unit Series. I read it as a stand alone . I won a copy of this book in a giveaway. A review was not requested. All opinions expressed here are my own.
I am surprised at how fast and easy it was to read this book. A lot of the book is dialogue between the two main characters as they deal with a very annoying yet dangerous situation. There are also excellent descriptions but they are short so in no way does it slow down the plot. It you want a very fast but entertaining read this may be a good choice. This is set in Alaska during the hot summer, in Denali National Park - but I really did not get a sense or feel for the park from reading this.
Now this is the fourth book in the series. I have not read the previous three but I had no problem at all. I sort of got the feeling each book centers on a different canine team so it may not matter?
Anyway even though there were many dangerous events in this story, in some way I also felt it was a "fluff" story? That is no matter what was going on I never actually felt that the characters were in actual danger? Even though persons unknown were shooting at them and sneaking about, watching them and following them? Maybe it's also because while this canine cop and a regular cop are trying to do their job they also have to be carting a baby around in a baby carrier! Can you imagine going on a stakeout with a baby? Well that is in here. It kind of makes the situation...strange? Surreal? You take it less serious?
This is a character driven story. We learn about both main characters in here, with the viewpoints switching.
Yet even though it was crazy I actually liked it. It was fun. Fun and kind of ridiculous.
But the very end was totally unbelievable. Not the end of the case in here but the thing between the two main characters. I don't believe it. It was like a Disney "happy ever after" ending.
But I will definitely read more books in this series. But it is more mystery than suspense really. And it's certainly not any scary kind of suspense.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Tracking Stolen Secrets. This is book four in the continuity series, Alaska K-9 Unit. I've really enjoyed this series and I know you will too. I'm a big fan of Laura's work so I was thrilled to get this one in the mail. It's well-written, action-packed, and full of drama. I know you are going to love this story.
State Trooper Helena Maddox and her K-9 partner, Luna go to Denali National Park looking for her estranged twin sister. The police are convinced her sister is involved in a thieving ring. Her sister had called and told her she was in big trouble. Luna follows her sister's scent but a shot is fired. She is knocked down by a local cop. A man trying to arrest her sister. As they investigate they find her sister's baby left for her to care for. How can she investigate with a baby on board?
Police Officer Everett Brand is convinced Zoe Maddox is a hardcore criminal. As he gets closer to Helena he can see the subtle differences between the twins. He decides Helena was the prettiest of the two. He has no business noticing that. He lost his wife and son three years ago and he is in no position to find an attraction to any woman. Then Zoe's baby is thrown into the mix, how is he supposed to handle this case?
A terrifying journey to find Zoe and stop a ring of thieves and cold-blooded killers. God has a plan for these two, a good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too; a plan for peace and not for destruction even in this time of turmoil. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
Alaska State Trooper Helena Maddox and her K-9 Luna team up with local cop Everett Brand to find her sister Zoe. But when Helena's twin leaves her baby on Everett's doorstep things really get complicated. Helena had no idea Zoe had a child and now they are tasked with caring for a baby while hunting the theft ring Everett is certain Zoe is a part of. Helena is convinced her twin is innocent but since they are both looking for Zoe is just makes sense they work together, especially now that a baby is in the mix.
Lots of suspenseful twists and turns in this great story! Highly recommend!
I truly am loving this series. Helena and her K-9 partner Luna are a great team and in Denali looking for her estranged twin Zoe. Then she meets Everett who is also looking for Zoe. When a baby girl is left for Helena to take care of, they both are drawn into a deadly game. As they are running from people shooting at them, they are trying to protect the baby and find Zoe. But how do the bad guys keep finding them?
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense yet hopeful with a character and action oriented storyline that has some kisses but nothing more. The characters are vivid and engaging. Read these in order and enjoy the mysteries, the action and the overarching storyline.
Laura Scott always writes a good story’s description I love to read them! This story is part of the Alaska K-9 Unit series. It has good characters, and is full of suspense and action. Luna, a Norwegian elkhound is Helena’s partner. The K-9 shows off the abilities it can bring to aid their humans. It also has a baby! There is nothing like an innocent baby to soften the edges of tough cops! Alaskan State Trooper Helena Maddox is so sure her estranged twin sister, Zoe, couldn’t be part of a theft ring, so she needs to find her before Anchorage policeman, Everett Brand, does. When a baby is left on Everett’s doorstep, not just any baby, but Zoe’s infant daughter,( a child Helena knew nothing about!) the two team up to find Zoe. Several twists and turns to solve this one.
Alaska State Trooper Helena Maddox, along with local cop Everett Brand, are hunting for her twin sister Zoe (albeit for different reasons). Her K-9 partner Luna is a help for that goal; Christine, Helena's infant niece she didn't know about before she was left at Everett's cabin, and having their location compromised repeatedly are not.
This is the fourth part of an eight part series. If you are familiar with these multi-author series, you'll know that this is a stand-alone story with references to other plotlines that are sprinkled through the series. If you're not, you can enjoy this story without reading the others.
The plot, as you'd expect, keeps you on the edge of your seat. The characters are easy to care about, especially Everett who has reasons for discomfort in the situation he's in.
When I saw the cover for this book, I was surprised. I'm used to seeing the K-9 hero on the cover of these stories, and am used to seeing German Shepherds, Labs, and Beagles. But was that really a Norwegian Elkhound in this story? Yes, it was. A pleasant surprise.
I enjoyed this novel, and am enjoying working my way through the series.
"Tracking Stolen Secrets" is a Christian romantic suspense. There are some ongoing cases throughout the series, and the reader gets updates on how those cases are progressing in each book. However, this book can be read as a standalone.
Helena's K-9 partner got to shine as she helped track down Helena's sister and alerted them when the bad guys were unexpectedly coming. The suspense came from the bad guys somehow managing to find them again and again and their need to kept her sister's baby safe.
Helena and Everett worked well together as a team. Someone had to protect and care for the baby while they investigated. They took turns as to who actively pursued the leads or the bad guys and who protected the baby based on who's skills were most needed at the time. They respected and trusted each other. They were romantically attracted, which grew as they got to know each other.
Helena was a Christian and prayed. Everett believed in God but felt He didn't care about him because He let Everett's wife and baby die. He came to see that God cared and was still protecting him. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense.
Tracking Stolen Secrets: Alaska K-9 Unit Book 4 is by Laura Scott. Helena Maddox, Alaska K9 State Trooper is with her dog Luna in the Denali National Park in Alaska. She is looking for some sign of her sister Zoe. Zoe is in trouble again and Helena is there to rescue her. When a shot rings out, she is slammed to the ground by a large body. It is Everett Brand, an officer from Anchorage, who is on the trail of a criminal ring of jewel thieves. He, too, is searching for Zoe; but for another reason – to arrest her. She gives him a ride to his cabin when he gets notified that someone is breaking in. When they get there, he goes in first and when he doesn’t return quickly, she follow him. She finds him holding a baby and a note. The note informs her that he is holding her baby niece, Christine, and that she is giving her to Helena so she will be safe. Now there is another reason to find Zoe quickly. Can they find her before something else happens?
I'm reading through this series one by one and enjoying each new book and author. This was good but not a favorite. Maybe because I'm tired of the standard old romance routine. "He loves me, she loves me not". Or the twist, " we can't love one another because of instability or doubt". One other problem I had here is Luna, a well trained K-9 officer. She is a Tall breed dog, but only went after an assailant's Ankle! Most dogs are trained to go for the gun hand. She did this twice. There was a lot of running around in the investigation. (I guessed the culprit before they did 😁. I told you I've read a lot of these books.) Every one I getting shot a lot, but not fatally. The endings always packed with excitement and I get little done having to read to the end!
Dramatic Manhunt in Alaska This book is the fourth in the Alaska K-9 Unit series. The books should be read in order because they share characters and the stories overlap. This book has a pretty intense plot with plenty of suspense. It also has a bit of a budding romance. And, as with all of the books in this series, it is faith-filled with the Law Enforcement officers asking for God's protection and requesting His guidance. This is a good story in a good series.
Book 4 in this series and as with Book 3, several errors in proofreading, PLUS out of order pages and missing pages. Pages 97-112 are missing altogether in the book. Someone is dropping the ball in this series. It's certainly not up to the usual good standard. I'm going to get the ebook and see if the pages are in it that are missing in the paperback. Harlequin needs to up their game!
This book is always moving and the hideouts are compromised, but they stay relatively safe. But are their hearts safe? They were too busy caring for the safety of the baby that they didn't realize they let their guard down on their hearts. All this because they trusted God to watch over them.
I'm enjoying all of the parts of this series (as cheesy as they can be at times). Tracking Stolen Secrets was a good adventure in the wilderness of Alaska. The end was a a bit cheesy with Everett and Helena getting engaged after knowing each other for such a short time but the adventure and mystery was enjoyable.
Tracking Stolen Secrets by Laura Scott is the story about Everitt and Helena, along with her K-9 Luna. Together they work to track down her sister and end up with her daughter. As they unravel the mystery and solve the case, they fall in love and learn that God is with them.
I am loving this awesome Alaska K9 multi authors series! Scotts book didn't disappoint A great story line, mention of the other previous book themes, strong characters, faith and lots of suspense and romance made for a great read!
This book's storyline was okay. The action in this story was okay. I liked the Christian theme in this story. I liked Helena's character. I liked Everett's character. I loved ❤ Luna 🐕. The ending was okay.
Positive her sister is not involved in a theft ring as the police believe, State Trooper Helena Maddox and her K-9 partner must find her twin before local cop Everett Brand does. But when the niece Helena did not know existed is left on Everett's doorstep, they all become targets.
Another good story of the work done by K-9 units throughout the world. Dogs of various breeds trained to help their law enforcement partners and the relationship shared by them.
A baby adds so much to any story, especially with a wounded daddy learning to move forward after a tragedy. God is good. Tracking Stolen Secrets is a warm mystery that gave me a very enjoyable afternoon.
OMG-this is a romance/faith novel given to me by my 89 year old friend. It was an easy read. The storyline was good, however after a brief two days together the main characters were professing their love and agreeing to get married-what?!? But the mystery was solved and love prevailed.
this is a goodstory about a state trooper and a police man tring to stop another crime from happing but then a baby is left at the door of thecabin they are in and someone keeps finding them. as theyare on the run in the beautiful land very good
I really enjoyed the way the author brought in a child. It made the story more personable. And then I never guessed it was the informant behind the whole story. My mouth opened wide when Norbert came in at the end. Good Story!
Another really good story, keeps me from putting my Kindle down!
Helena and her partner Luna meet Everett, a police officer. They are looking for Zoe, Helena's twin sister, who is suspected of being involved in recent jewelry heists.
