The greatest wisdom is often found in the simplest knowledge.

This is a story about how two men from different walks of life learn that neither robes of honor nor the total renunciation of worldly life is required to enjoy the most fundamental human desire – happiness.
It is a story about understanding that happiness is not a philosophical enigma but an attainable state of the mind and how one can cherish the greatest joys through the simplest and smallest acts of daily life. Let us uncomplicate happiness and find the extraordinary answer to the ordinary question: Are You Happy?
Adorei e recomendo. 😘😘😊🙂
No matter what goals we achieve, how far we travel, there's a seemingly straightforward question we must ask ourselves, are we happy? Truly, genuinely happy? If not then why not and how should we reach that level of happiness? What is happiness, is it mere possessions of material things or something that comes from within our core? Are we confusing happiness with excitement? An unimaginable friendship strike up when two men from two different backgrounds are put together. A billionaire who leads a life of luxury and the monk who once believed in renunciation, they are about to discover the real path to happiness.
Sometimes what we need is just a little bit of push, that miniscule amount of comfort to lift our spirit. Some books help you with that, just by going through them fills you with warmth. They contain nothing new yet make difference in our mood and calms us down. 'The Billionaire and The Monk' is a book like that, simple in its own sense yet holds so much power and wisdom.
This is a short, poised daily wisdom book comprising wisdoms we already know but tend to forget from time to time. A very mild and concise story of a billionaire and a monk and the resultant lessons arising out of their friendship. Meticulously woven plots as each plot unravels a great wisdom and carry that into the next chapter with more gusto. At the end of the journey both the billionaire and the monk learns something new in order to attain extraordinary happiness. It's a small but powerful book, nothing new but good for brushing up old yet effective self-help theories. Simple writing and lucid meaning, in one liner a perfect beginner-friendly self-help guide to happiness. Surely it's an amazing book but too short for my liking but I enjoyed it to the fullest. This book may come in handy for those who find difficulties in following self-help books.
The Billionaire and the Monk by Vibhor Kumar Singh is a short self-help book that employs a fictional account to answer a crucial question - where to find happiness. Through our two central characters - a billionaire and a monk - the author attempts to explain how happiness is found in little things, how peace is within. It also touches upon other key subjects such as wealth, anger, meditation, minimalism, etc.
The book essentially propounds the idea that one need not renounce the world or embrace the robes to become happy. One can live within the complexities of the world, entangled in its day-to-day affairs, and still be happy. One simply needs to rearrange one’s perception of life, one needs to reflect upon themselves and the things around them, one needs to look inward and identify themselves. One necessarily has to be aware of his needs and wants. That one idea of self-awareness followed by self-control can create magic. And once it becomes one’s habit, a natural way of life; one would feel happy. Contentment would follow it without any further demands.
The book elaborates on minimalism and habituating oneself to live in harmony with nature. It also brings us to the realization of letting go of grudges and embrace forgiveness to lead a fulfilling life. The most important and my favorite lesson from this book is on meditation. The book says - Anything that helps you connect with your soul, though for a micro-second, is meditation. So having your morning tea in silence or reading a book in peace could also be meditation. How beautiful.
The writing is simple and the lessons are undoubtedly helpful for all of us. Anyone who wants motivational content packed in fewer pages, read it. Anyone who has never come across a self-help book, give this one a shot.
This is the story of two men who are from opposite walks of life unite together to work towards their common goal. As you might have already guessed from the title of the book, one is a billionaire and one is a monk.
In this book these two men discover that the greatest wisdom in often lies in the simplest truths of life.
This is a short but thought provoking book which makes you reflect upon happiness and peace. This book is more like a self help book and I think many people will be benefited from reading this book.
This books tells us the importance of to do lists which helps in decluttering our mind. I cannot agree more because I'm a big to do list maker. 😂
Also the books focuses on minimalism and having well defined goals, being grateful, not to blame others and so on.
The life lessons taught here are simple but very effective. This book gave me the same vibes as The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
Overall, I really liked reading this book. It was enlightening and teaches us many important life lessons. I will highly recommend this book.
This book is about two men from different walks of life who learn that neither robes of materialism nor total renunciation of worldly life is required to attain happiness. It is a story about understanding that happiness is not a philosophical enigma but an attainable state of the mind. This is an endeavor to uncomplicate happiness and find the extraordinary answer to the seemingly ordinary question: Are You Happy?
Happiness is a very controversial topic which has been tackled by this book. The feeling of happiness is simple and uplifting but somehow rare to experience. I initially assumed that the billionaire is struggling with his dilemmas regarding happiness and a monk will enter his life and be the the problem solver. Though the first half of my assumption turned out to be correct but then in this book even the monk is struggling with his dilemmas which comes with immense knowledge. So I really liked this unique aspect where both the characters are helping each other to untie their knots.
Though I cannot deny that to a major extent it was pretty cliched and predictable. Maybe it is because I have read quite a lot of books on philosophy. In the beginning, I found the writing a little dry and stiff. But eventually I did like the exchanges between the two characters and the way they reached a realization. I think the interaction between the characters is what truly sets the book apart.
Overall the book is short and simple. The language is easy to comprehend and the author has conveyed the principles and philosophies very smoothly. To some extent it was enlightening and a plethora of essential topics requisite for holistic wellbeing has been touched here. I think I would recommend this book to only those who do not read philosophy that much and would like to delve in this genre.
“The Billionaire and the Monk” narrates to us the tale of two individuals with contrasting personalities who come from different walks of life. As their fates intertwine and bring them together for an exciting business venture in the beautiful Shangri-La, they both set out on a journey to discover and unravel the mystery of happiness.
- A pandora box of knowledge -
There is no denying the fact that the book offers knowledge and wisdom to anyone who wishes to learn from it. In addition to spiritual wisdom, it also offers some worldly advice about things like money, savings, and investments.
- My major takeaways -
Two of my most important takeaways from the book are – the importance of minimalism and mind control. I loved how the book explained the essence of minimalism, what it entails, and how physical minimalism declutters the mind and improves focus.
- What could have been better? -
I believe that the book is sold in the wrong packaging. The emphasis on the story part is much greater in comparison to the role of that story in the book. I would have loved it more had the book been projected as simple nonfiction self-help read.
- Pick the book if -
You enjoy self-help books. You are looking for a short read about happiness. You love reading books about happiness and wellbeing.
Short, sweet, and inspirational. Interesting story that makes you stop and think. Possibly reassess your priorities or just give you good vibes for the day.
Nepal Kitap'ın Milyarder ve Keşiş'ini birlikte yorumlayalım mı? Hadi gelin!

The author's approach is commendable and significant. . Overall, this is a book with a purpose and wisdom.
A well summed-up book on keeping life simple and minimal. A former monk and a businessman discuss the path to happiness and the different ways to reach it. The concepts are not new but the presentation is. An enjoyable read.
I am not sure if there's any way to measure happiness because like all other things in the world, happiness is subjective as well. But the least we can do is to define what brings happiness in our lives and make it worth living. 'The Billionaire and The Monk' is one such short book that discovers all possible aspects that are required to lead a happy and satisfying life.
I thought it would be a cliché story where a struggling billionaire may find a monk and that Monk would help him to understand life and solve all his problems. Instead, The Billionaire and The Monk helped each other equally by sharing their wisdom and insights about life. If anyone is going to read this book for a story then I would like to add that the story does not matter in this book because everything worth reading is between the conversations that The Billionaire and The Monk have. Everything that the reader may want to learn lies between the dialogues exchanges and the experience that they shared.
It's surely a noteworthy read and some learning can be very helpful if understood thoroughly. Each chapter covers an essential concept that plays a very vital part for a happy life. I observed that the author tried to form a bond between the Billionaire and the Monk but I couldn't see it that way. Maybe that's why I will also suggest not to pick this book for the characters or anything other contents than what it actually has to offer—which is the wisdom about life and lifelong happiness.
Personally, I didn't find it appealing to me because there was nothing new that I already didn't know, but it can be an enlightening read for the readers who don't read spirituality and wellbeing books very often. Read it for its simplicity and not-so-complicated explanations of the topics. And do not read it if you are already into spirituality and read such books very often.
"Minimalism is not the absence of ambition, it is a life choice in which you decide to live with minimum possession but with maximum focus" is the one line that explain whole book. This book teaches us the true meaning of success and happiness and changes your perspective towards yourself. The book divided into 10 chapters and has 2 main characters a Billionaire and a monk. Billionaire meets monk in Kathmandu and became business partners , between them there are great conversations that leads them learning from each other. Monk's life is better and full of happiness. Why? Grab the book and get answer. Favourite lines- 📌 Technology is a tool and should not be allowed to become the master. 📌 Always be greatful for what you have. 📌 Healthy body is a result of 3 fundamental aspects - Nutrition, exercise and proper rest. 📌4 dimensions of money are- Income , saving, investment and consumption. It's a short book but have great values and readers could complete It in one go. I am someone who loves to read self help books and this book helps me to attain happiness.
A Billionaire and a monk; one has limitless money and the other has unbounded wisdom; But one simple question puts these two men from opposite walks of life onto same pedestal - "Are you happy?"
Yess...Are we Happy ? If not, then what path leads us to the happiness ? What is important in order to be happy in life ? Can one truly be happy ?
The main objective of this book is to define happiness in the simplest form. It not only discusses about philosophy and spirituality of life but also talks about money, investment, friendship fitness and what not !
I wouldn't deny that I have got a ton of favourite new quotations from this book which I would post very soon. The book signifies that money or wisdom doesn't make you perfect or superior either ; even if you are rich, you can be unhappy and even if you have imparted knowledge you can feel unhappiness. It is purely normal. But what is more important is to keep learning from others and use those lessons in your life. That's where the beauty of life lies.
“It is, therefore, essential to stop blaming. It is often said, and I fully agree, that if all of us were to put our troubles on the table and compare them with those of each other, most of us would be happy to walk away with our existing problems itself! Yes, a strange but true observation.”- Vibhor Kumar Singh . As per the title suggests, the book revolves round two men, a self-made Billionaire, and a Monk, who sets off together on a quest for happiness. They are to be enlightened with the concept of happiness from their daily lifestyle. The book has been penned down with simple words to let us enjoy as well as incorporate the ideas of being content and satisfied reflecting a happy mind in our life. The book has been successful in defining the acute unintentional flaws of our acts and thoughts and in providing the basic and major requirements to evolve ourselves which might help entwined our lives with the secrets of a happy life. . .The book gives us the following lists(I selected a few I happen to agree, the most) which has been made up by both the Billionaire and the Monk, on the subject of attaining happiness and the laws of life that is to be maintained for achieving it- 1) Minimalism helps you unclutter both mental and physical space. 2) Anything that helps you connect with your inner self is meditation. 3) Nurturing grudges is fertile soil for the weeds of unhappiness to grow. 4) A sense of humor is a valuable happiness magnet. (my favourite one) 5) Well defined goals are a must for happiness. 6) Learning to say NO is essential for being happy. 7) MONEY= income+savings+investments+consumption 8) ASKING IS THE KEY TO RECEIVING. . I enjoyed myself while reading the book though it wasn’t my preferred genre. I have been on hunt for happiness since years which I thought I achieved only when I was laughing my heart out. Well, the book completely changed my views on real happiness. I have now known that I had always been happy while reading books, sleeping through the nights, seeping coffees in my break, working on assignments. And now, I couldn’t be happier. . I request you to take this book up cause we really need to have a crystal clear view on happiness. Our lives thrive through various moments of happiness which becomes ignorant as we let ourselves dwell in the bizarre happenings the most of time. Take a moment to live, you are rewarded with numerous reasons to stay strong, alive and happy.
The Billionaire and the Monk was an enlightening tale surrounding a man of the materialistic world and another man totally severed from it, both out in the search for the conquest of ultimate happiness. Each chapter in the novel addressed a specific issue, facts related to it and solutions to that problem that we, as urban citizens, must manifest in our lives to attain happiness. The book has been properly presented with a perspective of happiness that I never thought to imagine. Even though I might not totally agree with that perspective because I believe that happiness cannot be that planned, it really provoked my thoughts and I compliment the way that the author has managed to provide us with a scientific route to obtain an emotion as abstract as happiness. The book was extremely to-the-point, lacking any unnecessary details but I feel that some elaboration might have proved to be an improvement. Also, on a personal note, it's been ages since I read a book whose chapters start with a quote and I absolutely adore those implements so that really put this one in my favour. Moreover, I admire how the book is devoid of any names- everyone is just referred to by the title that captures the essence of thier character. One negative aspect of the book, according to me, is that it felt more like a personal diary than a novel. In a nutshell, The Billionaire and the Monk was an extremely knowledge-oriented and deep novel containing many essential truths and important facts that we, as a generation, need to understand so that we might be guided on the right path by texts like these if we properly assimilate them in our daily lifestyle. It was also a well-written book with hardly any grammatical errors. Although I'm not a huge fan of the point of view put forth in the novel, it harboured some principles that really appealed to me and I feel I will take steps to inculcate these principles in my life. For all these reasons, the book is highly recommended on my part.
I have a loving family, good friends, interesting job and a nice life. Yet I find myself yearning for that elusive happiness. So this coming new year I was delighted to find amazing ideas through thought provoking story of a monk and a billionaire in the book ‘The Billionaire and the monk’, for including a ‘happiness’ related resolution.
In this book Vibhor Kumar Singh, brings to us the key to ever lasting happiness in life. As professionals this is relevant to us because given the pressures and challenges of today’s everyday life we must not only focus on developing ‘work skills’ but also ‘life skills’ to be effective.
The book begins with the assertion that “the true purpose of life is to seek happiness… A state of happiness that remains despite life’s ups and downs…” It discusses the true sources of happiness like inner feeling of contentment, a sense of self worth etc., while illustrating the harmful effects of a comparing mind.
Surprisingly rather than just recommending a spiritual path to attain happiness, Author Vibhor takes a rational approach by emphasizing learning and extensive practice ie., happiness by cultivating positive mental states such as forgiveness, by discovering new perspectives, developing flexible thinking, finding meaning in pain and suffering etc.
As the apparently simplistic story unfold in the book you realize they are not that simple and slowly but surely a coherent and profound philosophy of living takes shape - having ethical discipline, reaching out to others, understanding and cultivating what gives meaning to our life, basically being a good human being. Different aspects like family, work, relationships, pursuit of wealth etc are discussed. After reading this masterpiece you will realise the usefulness of compassion.
May you find happiness after reading this gem of a book.
Book Title: The Billionaire and the Monk: A Simple Story About Finding Extraordinary Happiness Author: Vibhor Kumar Singh Format: Kindle
Book Title: The title of the book ' The Billionaire and the Monk: A Simple Story About Finding Extraordinary Happiness ' is soulful and enlightening.
Book Cover: The cover image of the book is a literal representation of the title. The cover is in solid yellow and orange colour, representing morning sun with a businessman and a monk in silhouette.
My review: Not always life goes as planned. When failures happen people generally look for immediate help. If this help is given in a concrete way that will help build the lost confidence and will power in a person, those words become the commandments for life. This is a self-help book which acts a comprehensive guide to gain lost control over life.
What I like: 1. Simple things re-explained with emphasis 2. Forgotten virtues are retold 3. Some measures to lead a simple life with maximum happiness are described.
What I didn't like: There is nothing to dislike. It is just another book that falls into the self-help category.
Characters: The story has two central characters, one businessman and the other a monk. Both come to a pint in understanding the meaning of life and happiness.
Narration: Engaging narration with good values that very much exist in everyone's life is sometimes forgotten due to the constant existential fight with destiny. Such values are focused on a dialogue pattern between the two characters in the book.
Language & Grammar: Easy language with good vocabulary is found in the book.
My Final Verdict: A nice read!

The Billionaire and the monk is a book which conves a simple story about finding extraordinary happiness. Happiness is not the absence of problems, it’s the ability to deal with them.Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness. It consists more in conveniences of pleasure that occur everyday than in great pieces of good fortune that happen but seldom. To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him. It is a beautiful book which is very inspiring and equally motivate the reader and answer the questions one had. It is not just a book it is an experience that is going to remain always with them who reads this book. Are you Happy ? Why can't you be happy ? To know the answer of these question give this extravaganza book a quality read. The author has penned all the characters and scenes very well. The book is narrated and written very amazingly. The cover and the title of the book is very captivating and catchy which holds the attention of the readers towards it and because of which the emotions flows lively. It is an amazing and inspiring read I must say. It is a page turner and motivating Book. The narration was smooth, and it captivates readers throughout. Overall its an excellent book and I would recommend it to everyone to give this book a read because it is not just a book it is the answer of your questions related to your life....
"The Billionaire and the Monk" is a self-help book to find extraordinary happiness.
The short story mainly rotates around two men, a Billionaire and a monk who went for a business trip cum holiday in search of finding the true answer of happiness. They decided that they will make a list of things that bring happiness in one's life in their 3 weeks of holiday. "Happiness is a choice not a result" My favorite lines from the book:- **Minimalism is a life choice in which you decide to live with minimum possessions but with maximum focus. ** Technology is a tool and should not be allowed to become the master. ** Asking is the key to receiving. ** True happiness starts with the mind. ** Maintaining a to-do list. ** Nature is the ultimate healer. It is a limitless source of happiness. ** Always be grateful for what you have. ** Stop blaming and comparing with others. ** Learning to say No is essential for being happy. ** Learn to forgive and forget. ** Healthy body is a result of 3 fundamental aspects- Nutrition, exercise and proper rest. ** No one can share your disease or body pain. ** Fighting an illness is always a lone and unhappy battle. ** Four dimensions of money are- Income,Saving,Investment and Consumption. ** Happiness lies in the balance between the voice of the mind with the call of the heart. ** Happiness is attained and not achieved.
In any life's toughest situation we should always remember- "This too shall pass"

A book reading is always an emotional journey. Agreed? It draws me to my past, brings the illusions of the future, connects me with different entities, flew me along with nature, and entangles the journey within myself and with the unknown, clutches me with known myself to pull out a line of secret edge. It's fascinating and soothing to the soul especially to a person like me...
Well!!!
Coming to this book, it was too good and took some time for me to finish, not because of concepts or not because of its literary content. But it brings me a lot of thought and the thought process is stringent this time, unlike the one I usually get while reading. It is too short a book yet I bet it touches the core of your heart to look into oneself. It questions "What makes you happy?"
The book begins with the interview of a billionaire in New York. There he responds fine but one last makes him dizzy. Are you happy? This three-word question made him feel uncomfortable. Going deep into the plot this billionaire met a monk and become a partner. The conversation between them and with the chief Lama is gripping and serves as learning accolades to the seekers. This describes how "minimalism brings happiness". Maybe a few do not agree with this... Well! The book is an awesome read. Try this to have a different dimension in your thought process.
Excerpts from this book: ✍ Money is a by-product; the happiness of excellence is their true goal. ✍ 'There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen’? ✍ Anything that helps you make that one micro-second connection with your soul is meditation.
It’s a short read that can be read around an hour. So I will keep my reviews short to avoid spoilers. The tagline of the book “A simple story about finding extraordinary happiness” gives you general idea about the book. I loved the book cover. It’s a self help book. The book starts with A billionaire sitting in Central Park, New York. The first chapter ended with very impactful question, that is “Are you happy?” It’s the question that we asks ourselves repeatedly when we are struggling to make a choice. The first step discussed for that in the book is concept of “Minimalism”. As we know nowadays many people are believing in concept of minimalism. But for me, it’s really difficult but I would definitely like to try it. And there is another character The Monk. Who takes us on a spiritual journey while reading the book. They both have very different personalities but they meet for collaboration. And from that journey, we can get our pearls of wisdoms. I loved the way author has presented his thoughts. Read the book to unfold further details. The concept of the book is very different than regular self help books. I liked the spiritual touch to the book. Each and every questions and concepts go through our minds and touch directly to our hearts. The narration style of the author is captivating. The language of the book is lucid. Author has presented the core concept point wise that we can easily understand it. The book is fast paced that way it holds the attention of the reader. Overall good one. Recommended from my side.
Do you want to learn how to be a Billionaire and a Monk altogether? Well this book will teach you so. The Billionaire and the monk here were two different personalities who meet and collaborate with each other to explore the answer of question Are you Happy? I know this question will also hit your heart…..
The monk will not tell you to abandon yourself from this lustrous and ever demanding world but to be minimalist
The billionaire will not tell you that money can’t buy happiness but how to bring in happiness from money
Both the characters meet up at a place called Shrangli-La shares their pasts and how they came up so far. They also share their experiences and learning and get to learn from each other, this gesture inspired me a lot. If you are ready to learn there are people to teach you in every way possible whether you are excellent in your work there is always room for improvement.
It is a fast paced book with only 75 pages in it so you will not feel this to be boring and much of philosophical but will teach you the practical way to lead your life.
Language is easy to understand and the book is engaging. If you want to start with Self- Help genre I will highly recommend you this book
My favorite chapter in this book will be- Budge the Grudge and Buying Happiness
The Billionaire and The Monk. This book was a wonderful short read. The book imparts so much knowledge. I have learned so much from this read. The book talks about finding happiness and how to achieve it. What I loved were the practical ways in which the book gives tips on how to focus on the things that make you happy. This book was very much in line with my new year resolution which was to do things that stimulate the brain and keep me happy especially in such trying times. I especially loved the chapter – Money CAN Buy Happiness. I never thought that such a chapter could be written, but the way it was explained and the tips given to handle finances were superb! The book is essentially a self-help book. The book has two characters the billionaire and the monk. Both are in a quest to find the answer to the question – “Are you happy”. The author mentions at the end that the monk represents the heart and the billionaire represents the mind. Once we have both the mind and the heart on the same page and both are having the same goals and aspirations, it makes us happy. I have underlined so many parts of the book, simply because they resonated with my thought process or ideologies that I wish to incorporate in my life. The book was an eye-opener in many ways. It was a lovely read!
Book- The Billionaire and the Monk Author- Vibhor Kumar Singh Format- Amazon Kindle Length- 75 pages Rating- 4/5 Review- You are a successful person. Still, are you successful? Vibhor Kumar Singh’s “The Billionaire and the Monk” is a self-help book that teaches you what it means to be happy. If you are not happy, then what’s the point being a successful person. And this book comes as a bridge between success and failure. The book is based on two central characters, a billionaire and successful businessman & a monk. Both come to a point in understanding the meaning of life and happiness. And both are successful in their own paths. I liked how the concept of self- development and minimalism was said here. I knew this before, it’s that these things keep you motivated. And if you are going through a bad phase in your life, this book’s definitely going to help you. And the bad part of this book is that I had nothing to dislike in this book, maybe the book could have been a little long. The language used by the author is very simple and lucid. The narration was the conversations between the businessman and the monk, which was quite engaging. Feeling low? Have a take at this
Have your ever heard about the newest fad of going minimalistic? The first time I heard it, I was a tad bit sad you see it was just before my birthday and I was kinda taken aback but like every thing else in the world this too had two sides to it. This book in the first two chapters explained to me the minimalistic art of of living like nothing else could. You see if you opt to take with you things that you absolutely need and get rid of all the things that you can do without, your life will become less complicated in ways that even you can not imagine. For example let's imagine that you have your absolute necessary objects and have leant to live on only then, so now there is zero waste in your life, ergo no clutter thus you will end up saving lots of time without having to sort through tons of clutter. Moreover money saved is money earned, thus resulting in a total win-win situation for you in every way. Another important thing about modern day life is our habit of procrastination, we tend to think and in turn over think about situation, if this minimalistic approach is also applied in real life then one can rid themselves this ill habit and spare themselves the pain of overthinking. The book has been an absolute pleasure to read and helped me in decluttering my mind.
Every person has his or her own ways to look at things. Whether one sees the glass half full or half empty, the ultimate aim of everybody is to be happy and content.
The book explores this very point of how to achieve this goal of attaining happiness in truest of senses. Is it something related to being on a voyage to a serene place, climbing mountains and spend time in Himalayas introspecting yourself or is it as simple as showing gratitude to what you have and adopting a minimalistic lifestyle with limited resources?
You will get the answers if you skim through the book.
Unlike most self help books, one thing that 'The Billionaire And The Monk' successfully accomplishes is it doesn't sound like retelling of things you already know. Rather it conveys the message indirectly by maintaining a conversational narrative style. It leaves purely on the wisdom of its readers what one gets out of the book and gives us the creative freedom to reflect on what we have witnessed in our own unique ways.
