Minor SPOILERS

I thought Adaira “capturing” Roark and putting him in the dungeon was pretty funny when she and Brayan first did it but it became unfunny when he ran out of candles and had to fight off rats with a broken chair leg AND she still wanted to keep him locked up until Ewan came to let him out. That wasn’t very good writing on the author’s part, I didn’t think. And after what his father put him through as a kid I can see why he hated the darkness.

Oh, while I think about it I’d like to thank this author for having beautiful heroines, instead of having one that’s too plain or too plump or too unattractive or too whatever and expect us to believe that a handsome god-like hero is going to fall for her. That’s not even close to believable.

This was another great read by Ms. Cameron, and now I’ve read about 12 of her books, and will keep reading until I’ve read all her books. This one had just enough angst for it not to become monotonous or boring. There were just enough bad guys and bad woman to keep everyone on their toes, but I don’t think Helene, Otto and Freidrick got what the deserved. BUT Edgar got ALL he deserved, as did Brayan. It was an exciting read.

The other secondary’s were great, too: Lord and Lady Ferguson, Seonaid, Dugall, Yancy, Flynn. And I loved the servants: Westbrook, Maisey and Pepperhill.

There was no swearing to speak of, very nice sexual attraction and very sensual sex scenes.

As to the narrator: As with The Viscount’s Vow this narration was incredible. Ms. Zimmerman did a perfect job with the voices and excellent job with emotions. I don’t know how Ms. Zimmerman didn’t get a solid 5 stars from every listener of this book. Perfect male voices, perfect female voices, and perfect emotions! What more could you ask for? If you listen to the first book and this one, the 3rd, you won't miss anything. The second book wasn't all that much and the narrator sucked, IMO.

I loved The Earl’s Enticement! I think it is Collette Cameron’s best work yet!! Although, this is the third book in the series it more closely follows the first book than the second. Set in Scotland in the year 1817, the story begins just before Highlander’s Hope (Book 1) ends, and this is Adaira and Roark's story. I loved how the ending and the beginning of the two books overlap!

Adaira mistakes Roark, the Earl of Clarendon, for the man who is trying to harm her brother’s wife, Yvette. She tricks Roark into going the wrong way and lures him into her trap. Poor Roark! Having been abused as a youth by his father, he is afraid to be confined in small dark places, which is exactly where Adaira puts him. He is mad at being locked up, and at the same time he is irritated with himself for being aroused by Adaira.

You couldn't get more opposite than Adaira and Roark. While Roark values the rules of proper society, Adaira does not. She dresses in breeches, knows how to fence, and could ride a horse better than most men. She has also made a name for herself as a breeder of exceptional horseflesh. An incident several years ago has left her with no desire to become someones wife. So... why does she find herself so attracted to Roark?

When the truth is revealed and Roark is released, Adaira finds herself in big trouble. The consequences for imprisoning an Earl could be severe, but Roark gives her an ultimatum…learn to act like a proper lady or go to prison. No more breeches, riding side saddle and a Season in London was to be her punishment, but to Adaira prison might be a better option. Adaira and her whole family are to travel to The Earl’s Estate where her studies in ladylike behaviors will begin. It's all very amusing when Adaira cannot seem to get through one day without some kind of blunder! She is not cutout to be a lady! Her fierce temper gets her into trouble and she acts before she thinks. All the while, Roark is beginning to regret trying to change her ... he finds he likes her just the way she is.

With a house full of interesting guests, a neighbor lady who has had plans of her own to be the next Lady of Clarendon and Edgar (Roark’s evil brother who would like nothing more than to become the new Earl of Clarendon) still on the loose, danger and mayhem ensue!

Even though the events in The Earl’s Enticement closely follow Highlander’s Hope, I feel the story will stand quite nicely on its own.

The Earl’s Enticement is a humorous, action-packed romance! I would highly recommend reading this fast-paced story, and all of Collette Cameron's books!

The Earl’s Enticement, the third book in Collette Cameron’s delightful Castle Brides Series, made me laugh out loud and fall in love with its spirited heroine and misjudged hero. Adaira Ferguson’s unconventional, plain-speaking manner makes her a charming and accessible heroine. And when she tangles with Roark Marquardt, the Earl of Clarendon, she meets her match in more ways than one. While Adaira eschews proper behavior and ladylike accomplishments, Roark holds to society’s rules and expectations as a lifeline to overcome his past and the reputation of his notorious family. I loved Roark and Adaira. Outwardly opposite, their attraction is undeniable, and each harbors their own painful secrets.

As with all of Cameron’s novels, The Earl’s Enticement is filled with secondary characters as intriguing as the hero and heroine, particularly the fiery Ferguson family. Likewise, Cameron’s signature humor is at its best, particularly when Adaira is excited, upset, or angry and lets loose an impressive variety of curses and exclamations.

The Earl’s Enticement is an engaging Regency romance offering adventure, a lovable heroine and delicious hero, giggle-out-loud humor, not to mention the appeal of another visit to Scotland.

I enjoy Collette Cameron’s books quite a bit. While looking for audio companions, I found The Earl’s Enticement in the Kindle Unlimited program with the offer to purchase the audio version at a fantastic price, so I immediately downloaded it.

Ms. Cameron’s writing style is smooth and flowing, her characters are complex and her pacing is excellent. The plot for this book is well thought out. I immediately became enmeshed in the story.

I did not immediately fall in love with Adaira’s character because in the beginning she acts without much forethought and makes assumptions that turn out to be wrong. This impulsive behavior has what could turn out to be dire consequences. As the story unfolds I did grow to love her character.

Roark is an excellent hero. He shows he is willing to forgive, even though Adaira’s behavior is atrocious toward him in the beginning. He is a strong protector and shows love and caring toward his sister. He has a great deal of patience as well.

If you enjoy a Regency romance that will sweep you back in time and one with a moving love story, then you will enjoy The Earl’s Enticement as much as I did. I look forward to reading other books by this very talented author. Happy reading!

I was fortunate enough to win a copy of Collette Cameron's book, The Earl's Enticement. I loved the story of Adaira and Roark. The Earl's Enticement is a well written book with plenty of action, drama, humor, lovable characters and steam. I look forward to reading more from Collette Cameron in the future. The Earl's Enticement is about 350 pages of enjoyable reading and is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

Roark is on his way to rescue his stepsister or so he thinks from the evil clutches of the Viscount Sethwick, but finds himself the one that needs rescuing. It was his bad luck that he had decided to travel with his usual entourage and found himself with a lame horse needing directions and assistance to get to the castle to intercede for his stepsister. Only the little hellion he ran into had tricked him and managed to dupe him and that is how he found himself locked in a cell in the dungeon. She was convinced that he was his younger brother and a cad of the first order. Nothing that he said would convince Adaira Ferguson that he was the Earl of Clarendon. Even though she had locked him in a dungeon and he swore he’d have her thrown in prison, Roark could not deny the attraction he felt.
“Adaira Ferguson, you bloody she-devil. When I get my hands on you…” “You’ll what? She stepped into the torch’s muted light and gave him a withering glare.

Adaira only had to keep the man imprisoned until her brother returned and then she would turn him over to be dealt with and justice would be done. Even though she felt that she had captured the right person a small fear crept into her soul, what if she was wrong? She would be imprisoned in Newgate for kidnapping a peer of the realm. The more time she spent around the man she had apprehended the more doubts that continued to plague her that something is not right.
Lowering her voice, she hurried on. “Ewan’s expected back any day. When he returns, I’ll tell him I apprehended you. He can do with you what he wants. I’m quite sure it will involve the authorities.”

When he is released, Roark has one goal in mind and that is to make Adaira Ferguson pay for the injustices she has forced on him. Roark has the perfect punishment for Adaira, she needs to be taught the proper ways of being a lady. With that in mind he arranges a month long house party and requires Adaira and her family to attend so that she can start her training in the proper decorum for a lady. He also wants to work out a stud arrangement for the line of horses that she has been breeding. With no choice, Adaira agrees to his requirements all but including her horses.
“This is serious. Ye are a Scot. Ye imprisoned an English nobleman. He could bring charges against ye, lass.” “I know,” Adaira whispered. What if he did? She could hang.

Everything that Adaira expected to be true about Roark is slowing being proved wrong. He is a man that holds loyalty, proper behavior and justice above all else. Adaira is hiding a secret from four years ago that even her family does not know. Roark also has secrets in his past that he is trying to overcome. Will Roark be able to overcome the barriers that she has erected and win her trust as well as her heart? Or will their past destroy the chance of finding true love? ~TSRBR

Hero –Roark, the Earl of Clarendon: 4 stars
Heroine –Adaira Ferguson: 4 stars

Cliffhanger: No

Would I recommend this book: Yes! If you want to read a really great historical romance this is a must read. This book has everything a reader would want in a beautifully written romance with drama, heated sexual encounters and happily ever after.

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I would love to read another book by this author. Ms. Cameron has a real feel for historical storytelling that includes feisty heroines and heroes that really know how to take care of a woman.

Take a girl in trousers, a keep in the Scottish moors, throw in a case of mistaken identity, add a dash of kidnapping and you just start to scratch the surface of this delightful story from Collette Cameron.

Adaira (Addy) is a clever, determined, tomboyish young woman who has decided that she will never marry, and she vows to protect her brother’s new wife from those who wish to harm her. When she meets Roark, the Earl of Clarendon in the little town, his less than forthcoming revelation of his real name and title lead to his imprisonment. For his younger brother is a villainous cur, and a danger to Addy’s sister in law.

Addy is hard not to like: so bold and brave in most areas, she is brought to her virtual knees by spiders and the thoughts of bats “hanging by their horrid little curled toes”. Yet her determination to save Yvette and hold the captive until her brother Ewan returns, show a clever turn of thought if not necessarily cognizant of the larger consequences. She isn’t aware that Roark, a peer, is there to check on Yvette and see that she is indeed safe and happy: not to kidnap or harm her in any way. Addy’s sheer determination and boldness in following what she sees as her only option, despite the very real possibility that her punishment would be worse than the sideways looks her mother sends her frequently.

Roark, for his part, is a bit of a stuffed shirt with a huge attitude toward attractive women. With a first marriage to an unfaithful woman, he is hurt, angry and completely convinced that all pretty women are out to manipulate him. Trying to repair the damage done by a faithless and grasping brother, Roark also needs to find a wife and have an heir, or the inheritance and control of lands and funds will all be given to his brother. A kick from beyond the grave from his father: no love lost there, Roark’s early years were characterized by abuse and manipulations, with his only ally being his mother.

Clever and unique scenario to introduce the future couple, Addy’s plan leads her into the arms of the earl, despite her determination to avoid it, and him. When her family, to protect her from prosecution, agree to let Roark choose his own boon, these two are pushed together. Roark will brush the rough edges off Addy with a month long house party, where dresses and fine manners are de rigueur. Roark soon finds that the Addy that is real and honest (and usually furious) is the one he truly enjoys, and while the polished version is both attractive and desirable, the hoydenish free-wheeling, stubborn, intelligent, determined and caring Addy is his preference.

Their friendship and regard for one another develops slowly, but is solidified with several encounters with characters that range from dangerous to simply seedy. As they get to know one another, the feelings deepen to attraction and love, and both characters grow and change, supported by the honest regard and affection of their partner. This is a story that will lighten a dark day and improve a mood with characters that are intriguing, funny and clever and will bring a giggle frequently.

The Earl's Enticement ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Written by Collette Cameron
Adaira Ferguson refuses to follow appropriate behavior. She wears breeches, rides horses astride and follows her own wishes.

When Adaira meets Roark, the Earl of Claredon, she mistakes him for his treacherous brother and imprisons him in the dungeons of her family estate. When he is finally released after she learns of her mistake he threatens to throttle her and he does to teach her a lesson.

Roark prefers his world to be very proper and at times can appear quite grumpy. As Adaira gets to know him she see a man who is sensitive to others in need. Roark is gentle and caring to his servants and his animals.

As a promise not to press charges against Adaira for his imprisonment Roark believes he can curb her spirit and make her a lady. He then realizes he is enchanted with this free spirited ways of this woman.

This is a very touching story for the couple because they both realize they need each other to complete themselves.

I quite enjoyed The Earl’s Enticement. What starts off as a terrible case of mistaken identity, the relationship between Adaira and Roark develops into a full-fledged romance characteristic of this genre. While I no longer read historical romances as frequently as I did as a teen, I still enjoy picking one up every now and then, especially when the heroine is a feisty and intelligent minx who snubs her nose at societal dictates. Ms. Cameron certainly delivered all that I hope for in a book of this genre and then some.

Addy is a wonderfully entertaining heroine. I found myself laughing at her antics several times during the story and saddened for her when faced with some of the harsher aspects of life - especially the loss of a friendship. As expected, Roark is the sinfully attractive Lord who takes it upon himself to tame they little hoyden. While both characters are well written and entertaining in their own right, it is their interactions with one another that and their combined chemistry that intensify their story. As expected, sexual activity between the two is non-existent until WELL into the book, but when it does happen, it is so worth the wait that even Roark is surprised at the outcome.

I must admit that I wavered as to whether or not this was a 4 or 5-star rating for me. Although I enjoyed this book thoroughly, I reserve a 5-star rating for books that make it to my re-read list and I almost never reread historical romances. That said, once I saw the blurb for Highlander' s Hope, Ewan and Yvette's book that precedes this one, I realized that when I get the opportunity to read it, I will reread The Earl's Enticement, thus earning it a 5-star rating. Ms. Cameron has produced a well written novel that should please readers of the genre. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Originally given 3.5 hearts at Rookie Romance.

After reading Highlander's Hope, I knew that Adaira and Roark's story would certainly be interesting and I've been looking forward to seeing their journey unfold!

Adaira is a free-spirited heroine, who doesn't care what other people think of her and she certainly doesn't abide by some of society's rules. Underneath all of her fierce and feisty independence, Adaira hides a painful secret that she doesn't want anyone to discover. This showed a vulnerable side to her character which softens her and makes her a lot more understandable when she is being more than a bit stubborn.
Roark was a great hero, and just as stubborn as Adaira. He has been burned in the past by an adulterous wife and family scandals, so now he has a proper and stoic facade that hides the kind and compassionate man that he is. He's adorably grumpy sometimes, but I loved seeing more of his true character emerge as the story progressed.

Adaira and Roark are a great couple with a very sweet chemistry. They have a rocky start when she mistakes him for his treacherous brother, but eventually they come to admire each other more and more. Then love follows swiftly on the heels of this begrudging respect.

Generally, this is very enjoyable although there was a lot going on at times. If there was a baddie in sight you can be sure they somehow found their way to Adaira and Roark. Those two were magnets for trouble.
Apart from that this is a very sweet story with a great wit and humour that shines through. There are so many characters that I'd love to have their own stories but I'd particularly enjoy seeing Adaira's sisters find their own romances. I'm very much looking forward to more from this author!

An overall enjoyable historical romance, The Earl's Enticement was a lovely read. I really liked this book. It had some unexpected turns, sweet romance, and an enjoyable story.

Adaira was a lovely heroine. She was very strong, independently minded, and determined to never turn a blind eye to mistreatment. My only issue with her was that she could be ridiculously impulsive and frustratingly stubborn, which often got her into bad situations. But. otherwise, I liked her.

Roark was wonderful. He comes off as a stuffy, overly-concerned-with-propriety lord, but there was much more to him than that. He was a very kind man who was compassionate and sweet and just adorable. I thought he was just amazing.

The romance was good. It bothered me a bit how quickly Roark went from wanting to subdue Adaira, to being infatuation with her. I wish there had been more of a transition. But, I still thought they were sweet together and they definitely had chemistry. They were both strong-willed, compassionate characters and I thought they were perfectly matched.

I had one big issue with the story and it was that there was simply too much going on. There were three separate conflicts going on, each of which kept popping up and making things feel a little too chaotic. I felt like it would have been better with just one of the villain causing one major conflict. It seemed like Adaira and Roark were magnets for psychopaths. This didn't ruin the book for me, but it did take a down a notch.

The plot was well paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. There were constant thrills and a few unexpected twists. I enjoyed the story and the ending was great.

The Earl's Enticement was a lovely historical romance. I wasn't perfect, but I still liked it and enjoyed reading it. Romance lovers, this is a book you might want to check out.

Adaira is unlike any lady Roark has ever met. She’s opinionated, stubborn, and defiant. If those things alone aren’t enough to send a man running for the hills, then the fact that she rides astride, wears breeches, and swears, should. Never mind the fact that she kidnapped and imprisoned him. Yet, Roark finds himself increasingly attracted to her for reasons he doesn’t want to explore but does.

Roark has to be the most stuffy-nosed, straight-laced man Adaira has ever met. He infuriates her at every turn, and she would swear she hates his guts, but that would be a lie. He intrigues her unlike any man before him, drives her crazy with his highhandedness, but pulls her in with his kisses. She might’ve been a woman who didn’t dream of marriage, but her view was quickly changing the more she was around Roark.

I grinned a lot during this story. There was a lot of swearing, a lot of threatening, a lot of relenting, and a lot of loving. Roark and Adaira were polar opposites of each other, but the attraction between them sizzled and popped despite their numerous fall outs. It was interesting watching Adaira struggle to fit into the ton because it wasn’t her world. It was obvious from the very beginning she wasn’t meant to conform to the rigors of polite society. What was just as interesting was Roark discovering how much he preferred her chaos to society’s order.

“Despite your shortcomings, and God help me, because of them. I wouldn’t have you any other way. Forgive me for trying to change you. You’re perfect just as you are.” – Roark to Adaira

Ms. Cameron did a spectacular job bringing Roark and Adaira together. Their happy ending was a long time coming and fraught with perils that might have had any other couple wondering if they were truly meant to be together. Thank God both were willing to hang in there, making their happily ever after worth waiting for.

When Roark, the Earl of Clarendon hears scandalous gossip of his stepsister he decides to pay an unannounced visit to Craiglocky Keep, where she is in residence. When his hired horse turns up lame he stops at a village to hire another horse & to ask for directions from a young urchin he comes across.

Adaira Ferguson is alarmed when a stranger asks for directions to the keep to see her sister in law. Yvette. Mistaking Roark who doesn’t divulge his title but gives his surname, for his criminal younger brother who had tried to harm Yvette before, Adair can only think to protect her sister in law & hatches a scheme to kidnap Roark & imprison him in the Keep’s dungeons until her brother gets home.

Roark is furious at being tricked & imprisoned by the impertinent Adaira while at the same time finding himself unwillingly drawn to her. When Adaira realizes her error & Roark is released, he decides the most fitting punishment for the hoyden would be to tame her & turn her into a lady.

I love how feisty & courageous Adaira is. She can even punch! She decks Roark one when he kisses her the 1st time (yes there was definitely more than just the one kiss after that!). She wears breeches, rides astride & breeds horse. She’s impulsive but not reckless & loves her family thoroughly. I love the sparks that fly between her & Roark, be it when they are arguing when it turns into something else.

Roark soon realizes how much he prefers the real Adaira & how real her honesty & sincerity is compared to the hypocrisy of the ton.
"Despite your shortcomings, and God help me, because of them. I wouldn’t have you any other way. Forgive me for trying to change you. You’re perfect just as you are".

A wonderful, easy read. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well written historical romance.

Adaira Ferguson is a wee bit out of control. The younger sister of Ewan, the Earl of Sethwick —and hero of Highlander’s Hope, Cameron’s debut—she is impulsive, reckless, and has grown up mostly indulged by her large and loving family. Initially, she comes across as very immature but I believe she represents the anger and unfairness that many women of her time often felt living under the power of a world run by men. She longs for the freedom to be herself at all times but, as the sister of a peer in 1817 Scotland, she cannot. She must adhere to her station and all the strictures and expectations that come with that privilege. She’s a completely free spirit and these rules confine and frustrate her to no end.

Roark, the Earl of Clarendon, is Yvette’s stepbrother—the heroine of Highlander’s Hope—who is visiting Sethwick’s estate in Scotland after Yvette’s recent marriage. Adaira, dressed as a boy in comfortable breeches when she meets Roark in town, mistakenly believes he’s Edgar, his nefarious brother, who is suspected of murdering their parents and who was once cruel to Yvette. She comes up with the harebrained scheme (with the help of her oafish childhood friend, Brayan, who harbors an unrequited crush on her) to capture Roark and hold him in the family dungeon. Completely insane! Instead of going directly to her father, she takes matters into her own hands and it’s a total disaster. This part of the book is almost farcical and I almost shook my head at Adaira’s crazy scheme. Roark’s experiences in the dungeon are not for the faint of heart and this part of the book is a little too dark and realistic for my taste.

I liked this book. Roark was great but Adaira was hard to like for most of the book

She was quite the brat and I didn't like how she used Brayan or how she could not seem to understand how wrong her actions towards Roark were. Either she was stupid or just incredibly self centered. She acted like a spoiled rotten toddler for almost 3/4 of the book. She does somewhat redeem herself but just barely.

This book had a lot going on - but most of the drama doesn't take place until the second half of the book. It was almost overwhelming. It was akin to getting swamped at the beach. You get hit with wave after wave of plot twists and turns until you almost feel like you are drowning in drama. The first half moves at a nice clip with basically just the imprisonment of Roark. Then in the second half we have not one, not two but five separate villains - yes, five (3 of them are basically working together - but still!). We have a crazy relative, a psycho former friend, a scorned mistress, an evil count and his whacko son. We have lust, lies, humor, horses, near death experiences, a forced engagement, rushed marriage and a couple of steamy love scenes. It was good - but it was a bit much.

As always the writing was excellent. The story wraps up nicely and hopefully we will get more books about the rest of the siblings. I finished this book with a smile on my face and even though I didn't really like Adaira at the beginning - I did like her at the end. And even though I rolled my eyes at yet another plot twist and another - I really did enjoy the book and would recommend it. Read the entire series - you won't be sorry!

This is the 3rd book in the seris. We hear a mention of the main characters at the end, in the 1st book "Highlander's Hope". Though it is not nesscesary to have read the first 2 books. The story is well introduced. The character's are perfect and you will fall in love with them.

I absolutely loved this book! It is definitely my fav in the seris. Just love the main heroine, Adaira(Addy). She is vivacious, witty, bright, spunky and incredibly inteligent. She is not a prim, prissy young Lady. In fact she dresses in Breeches every chance she gets and raises fine strong horses. Dressed in this fashion is when she meets the Earl of Clarendon(Roark Marquadt) only he does not announce that he's the Earl and she mistakes him for his younger, evil brother Edgar. Because of this and Addy wanting to protect her brothers wife, she kidnaps the Earl and throws him in the dungeon of her brothers castle. Of course she has good intention and tries not to mistreat him. Anyway as you can imagine all hell breaks loose when the truth comes out and now Adaira has to pay a price. The price is at the Earls Choosing. The journey and romance is full of trials and some seedy characters which make things just a little difficult. You will love the journey and the hero and herione are soooo lovable and I just couldn't put the book down. Definitely a must read for the summer or anytime. Best book in the seris.

Absolutely fantastic! It was fun, it was dramatic, it was sexy and it had a wonderful heroine in the effervescent Adaira. She fit beautifully with the outwardly prim and proper Roark. So, I'm not trying to knock the cover artist, but the couple on the cover in no way resembled Addy and Roark in my head. Addy was fresh, and free spirited. She was not bound by societies dictates, in fact she feels much more comfortable dressed as a lad, than some simpering lady of leisure. To me she had more of a Keira Knightly type feel, no disrespect to the female model. Roark, ah he was more elusive. A troubled childhood, trying to restore his families honor and reputation, yet at heart a more compassionate man would be hard to find, so I went with a young Pierce Brosnan. I’ve eagerly waited for Collette Cameron’s next book, and she didn’t disappoint. I first read about Adaira and Roark in Highlander’s Hope and had hoped they would get their own story.

I wasn’t disappointed. The humor, the close family connections and the revelation of dark secrets made this a book I couldn’t put down.
Cameron’s ability to create charismatic characters, along with her beautifully descriptive writing style made this story absolutely captivating.

At first I thought Roark was going to be a stuffed shirt, but boy did he surprise me. I found myself admiring him greatly, and he isn’t even a real person! Adaira was a delightful departure from the typical Regency heroine. Her daring nature and disregard for convention gave Roark fits but endeared her to me. I found myself grinning several times when she spoke her mind.

I so look forward to more books from Ms. Cameron!

I've enjoyed Collette Cameron's books in the past, and this one was no different. I will admit that I was a little bit nervous about Adaira--she is so different from your typical historical romance novel heroine. I was willing to forgive her in Highlander's Hope, just because I loved the story so much, and she made an interesting secondary character. But I will admit, I wondered if she'd be able to carry a book.

That being said, I love Adaira. She was fierce and determined and loyal, but she also had depth to her. Basically, she possessed all of the qualities that exemplify good characters, and the fact that she made me love her just demonstrates the depth of Ms. Cameron's story telling abilities. And Roark proved himself to be a good foil for her. The element of adventure and humor that runs through the book made this a novel I could not put down (and lost sleep over!)

The Earl's Enticement was a riveting read, and one that any fan of Regency era romances is sure to enjoy!

This was the first book I’d read by Collette Cameron but it wasn’t the last. I loved The Earl’s Enticement so much that I immediately bought several more of Ms. Cameron’s books so that I can enjoy her writing style multiple times this Summer. This author has certainly done a lot of research on the Regency era as, despite my having read quite a few Regency romances before, this story provided a couple of new-to-me laws and social mores of that time. The emotional depth of her characters was astounding. Adaira’s and Roark’s “rocky road to romance” had quite a few twists and turns due to the cruelty, vengefulness and madness in some family members, retainers and prior relationships. After all was said and done, however, the devotion, love, respect and support from the remaining family members and retainers helped Adaira and Roark achieve their happy-ever-after. This story provided me a wonderful two days and nights of thrilling entertainment.

I don’t remember the last time that I laughed so hard while reading. The banter, antagonism, and at times cooperation between the main characters was absolutely priceless. At the same time, Cameron had me near tears at times, and always wrapped up in this intricate tale. The characters’ pasts and presents collide as they fight against forces outside their control.

I love the way that Cameron brings her two main characters together. They both had secrets that slowly come out into the open, but above that, they were fantastic matches to one another. They both balanced and accepted one another. And their chemistry was off the charts. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know this whole cast, they were all so much fun and such vibrant individuals.

Cameron has definitely created a winning novel with this one. It was a lot of fun to read and also priceless as an audio book. No matter which format you choose, this novel is definitely a must read.

The Earl's Enticement

by Collette Cameron

The book is about Adaira, a horse-mad tomboy hiding a horrific incident in her past, and Roark, an Earl trying to erase the memories of a tortuous childhood.

Their story is full of unusual circumstances: mistaken identities, animal abuse (both to humans and from humans!), jealousy, fire, and so much more! Throughout it all, they antagonize each other and draw the other in at the same time.

"The Earl's Enticement" is a fast-paced, fun read! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and look forward to visiting the characters again and again! I highly recommend the book to all lovers of Regency romance novels!

Please note: I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.

2.5 stars rounded to 3.

Out of the three books in this series, I enjoyed this one the most. I found the MCs more compelling and the story more interesting than th previous two books.

What I liked:
1) The h was very likable. She isn't the way she is out of sheer stubbornness and I felt for her situation.
2) The slow build up in their relationship.
3) The baddies weren't OTT but believable, except for maybe the earl's brother.
4) The writing style was engaging and easy to read. I liked the dual povs.
5) The epilogue was sweet.
6) No ow/om drama. The H was very sweet in this love for the h.

What I didn't like:
1) I didn't need to hear about the earl with ow. Ick.
2) Why did the H have to be unimaginably handsome? I like it when the MC are interesting in appearance instead of just angelic. Of course the h isn't a gorgeous creature, but the H is.

Have you ever found an author that you just loved, loved, loved? One you couldn’t stop telling your friends about? Collette Cameron is one of those writers that you have to put on your must-read list!

Starting with Highlander’s Hope, Ms. Cameron’s Castle Bride series is simply one great book after another. The Earl’s Enticement is the third book in the series. The authors wit shines through a wonderful story of adventure, a fast-paced plot, and characters full of life. You’ll fall in love with Adaira(Addy) and her hero, Roark, the Earl of Clarendon, from the moment you turn page one.

Surprising twists and turns throughout the story keep you on your toes. A wonderful Scottish tale with an intelligent, strong heroine, yummy hero, and more laugh-out-loud moments than you can count.

Collette Cameron continues to write books that I can not put down. I finished this book in less than 24 hours. I loved her strong female character and the constant escapades that she seemed to get into. This is the third book in the series, but because I read a lot, I only had a vague remembrance of the characters from the first two books. There is no need to read them in order as they all three stand alone as well. I will continue to look for books by this author. They are beautifully written and capture your interest from the first page.

The story of Adaira Ferguson and Roark Marquardt, the Earl of Clarendon, who were briefly mentioned in ‘Highlander’s Hope’ is in this third book of the Castle Brides series. It’s not necessary for you to have read the first two books in order to follow their HEA, as the story can be stand alone.

As in the previous two books, Ms. Cameron crafts a ... thanks for jumping to b2b to read my full review ...

First, I would like to thank the author Collette Cameron for giving me this book for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I have not read the first two in the series yet. The main characters are strong and have each been through things that have made it hard for them to trust. The characters are well defined and written. I am looking forward to reading more from Collette Cameron.
