This is a cute Christmas cookbook by Kim-Joy, who is one of my favorite contestants ever on The Great British Baking Show. She provides many clever recipes that kids will enjoy, and also many Vegan options.
Fans of the Great British Baking Show and anyone who wants to create cute and clever Christmas recipes will enjoy this cookbook.
I love Kim Joy and Her vivacious appetite for life. I have her first cook book and couldn’t wait to get this Christmas version. I most certainly wasn’t dissapointed, it’s packed cover to cover with all varieties of Christmas bakes including vegan and gluten free versions. Watch out family you’re about to get bombarded with Christmas bakes in October!
This is quite possibly the sweetest cookbook I've ever seen. Kim-Joy was a delight to watch on GBBO - her decorations were always so creative and endearing. This book brings that creative flair in spades, but breaks everything down to keep it approachable for the home baker. Kim-Joy has even been sure to include both weight and volume measurements, and vegan swaps throughout the book. I do look forward to revisiting this book when the holidays come back around and I need inspiration for some festive treats!
This is super cute! So many adorable ideas and inspiration, and most recipes have a vegan option too which is greatly appreciated. I made the vegan shortbread which was lovely.
Any fan of the Great British Bake Off will know only need to hear the words “Kim-Joy” to remember the delightful baker whose whimsy and technique made her a fan favorite. Her adorable animal designs repeatedly won over experienced bakers and beginners with her creativity, her sweetness, and the sublime joy she got from baking.
Now she’s back with a second baking book, this one filled with fun and delightful ideas for Christmas baking. Christmas with Kim-Joy is filled with recipes for cookies, cakes, and numerous treats as well as decorating ideas that are festive and adorable. Expect bakes adorned with or baked to look like foxes, penguins, snowmen, reindeer, turtles, seals, polar bears, panda bears, and owls.
She starts with cookies, offering up recipes for shortbread, speculoos, and ginger cookies and a recipe for Royal Icing that you can use to create and decorate any number of cookie ideas, from individual iced cookies to a gingerbread (or speculoos) house. Kim-Joy also has a couple of cake recipes and a few breads you can try. She has recipes and tips for macarons and meringues. But most of her recipes are for little treats, and this is where she lets her creativity and design ideas run wild.
There are Reindeer Bakewell Tarts, Christmas Pudding Chocolate Orange Profiteroles, Irish Cream Snowman Choux, Yuzu Curd Santa Tartlets with Strawberries and Cream, Hedgehog German Cookies, Festive Bunny Madeleines, Marshmallow Seals in a While Chocolate Igloo, Arctic Fox Sandwich Cookies, and Owl Apple Pies, among others.
She offers vegan options wherever she can, and many of the recipes (like the Penguin Mincemeat Bao) include step-by-step photos to help you see just how she made them. But as always, it’s Kim-Joy’s ingenious ideas in design and decoration that lifts her recipes with those adorable creatures and playful innovations.
Fans of Kim-Joy will not want to miss out on this cookbook!
Incredibly well written cookbook for baking. Kim Joy has done it again. I am not much of a baker but Kim Joy’s recipes are easy to follow and make you feel like you can do it. She encourages you along the way. The pictures and cute illustrations make this book even better!
Faris liked this cook book and even did his weekly book report on it. Some of the decorations may be out of my skill level but loved the ideas and the fusion take in many of the recipes - like match swiss roll and mincemeat bao.
Kim Joy is so delightful and talented I'm so glad that GBBO gave us the opportunity to be introduced to her and her baking. Such a delicate artiste. Enjoyed this book, and the all variety and originality of all the holiday delectables.
Totes adorbs No really, it’s a really cute and delightful cookbook. Love the illustrations, photos and positive affirmations. Loved her on the show and love her book
