a collection of ghost stories, mostly the kind you could tell around a campfire. Some, apparently take place on an island where they speak pidgin English.
I liked this book. The paranormal, and things that can't be explained fascinate me. It's an intriguing book. But I was expecting more. Some of the stories were rather predictable. Some of the tales are spooky, and then others are downright scary. I did not like the Honeymoon story though I thought However, two of the stories "Rise of the Phoenix" and "Sensation" I liked a lot. This passage is from "Rise of the Phoenix", I love the imagery. "Beautiful neon-colored butterflies flitted around and perched on a golden rope moving in slow motion through shiny pulleys attached to the well’s handle." Therefore, I'm giving it 4 stars. It was well written, just some of the stories were not as effective as these two.
I’m a fan of ghost stories, so this is right up my alley. There’s 30 creepy stories, some scarier than others! Thanks to the author for this Goodreads giveaway. This is my honest review.
This is a collection of short stories. Like all collections some are better than others but I enjoyed most of them! Some really got you thinking!! I enjoyed this one!
This was a compilation of short stories that I found predictable after reading the first couple stories. Most of them were based on someone with a guilty conscious who was haunted by their guilt in some type of paranormal way. I personally like a story that draws you in and makes you want to read more. This was not my type of reading, but might interest someone that doesn't enjoy reading a full-length book.
(Won this book on Goodreads). A collection of a few stories to read in the dark. Some were good some were not so good. Had hard time reading some of the drawn out language, and the translations. It took away from the story and the scare tactics. It was too time consuming to decipher the text and get back into the story. The stories were good other than that.
These stories are well written, surprising and suspenseful. All the stories are scary and take about 5 minutes to read each. I won this book thru a goodreads.com giveaway
To give this a fair review, I have been reading ghost stories since the 1970's. It takes a lot to suprise me. This book is not bad, there was just not anything new here.
