Three wishes, two warriors, one chance at redemption
Fae martial artist Alana Beech demands justice when her teammate dies during a rigged fight—but no one cares. Injured and alone, Alana is forced to accept a last-chance job at a curiosity shop. There she finds a magic lamp—and a spark of hope—in a box of abandoned junk.
Ronan is a dragon prince imprisoned during the destruction of the fae homeland. He’s the genie bound to the lamp and forced to grant three wishes to every comer. As handsome as he is hazardous, Ronan joins Alana’s search for answers.
While their alliance turns passionate, Alana’s quest reveals a mystery that goes far beyond murder. The lamp is a lethal weapon, and Ronan’s enemies are hunting for him. Alana will do anything to guard her lover’s back, but sometimes a warrior’s courage—like the genie’s wishes—carries an unexpected price.

Sharon Ashwood!! Sharon Ashwood!! Longtime fan here! She is awesome sauce and she really did not disappoint with her new novel. So happy that this is the first book in the series, I can not wait for more!! (Too many exclamation points??) . In this book we have fae (pssst you had me at fae) martial artist, Alana Beech and dragon prince named Ronan. That's enough to pull you in right! RIGHT!! Add mystery to the mix and we have romance, thrills and major plot twists!! . Alana's teammates dies and she is forced to work at a curiosity shop where she finds a lamp. Guess who is inside. RONAN of course! So along with her quest to avenge her teammates and Ronan's long time enemies, we also have incredible passion between the two of them. Yay!! AND we have an awesome book!! . 5 stars for Shimmer! This is not a book to miss. . *this review is done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official.
This fairy tale romance is one exiting read that has readers’ dreams and imagination taking flight. Ronan and Alana are strong, spirited characters that readers just can’t help but fall in love with, they easily draw readers to them and thrill them with an adventure and romance of a lifetime. The romance is sweet as Ronan becomes captivated with the feisty Alana when she refuses to make her wishes and the more he learns the more the chemistry burns and the attraction sizzles.
The story is fast paced and full of thrills and excitement as Alana investigates the death of her friend and ends up on the wrong end of some heavy duty enemies that just happen to be Ronan’s enemies as they battle from Alana’s world to the fae world and back again with some stunning magical battles. Surprising twists keeps readers on their toes and there’s never a chance to become bored as this fairy tale romance takes flight on a magic carpet ride that readers can’t help but enjoy.
Overall the book was good, with solid writing - and I loved the name "Ronan"! The premise is sort of like a mesh of the "genie in the lamp" story with a little bit of LOTR and Inuyasha (the time travel between current and past/alternate place) thrown in, with also a bit of originality to boot. It had it's share of magical and mythical creatures, some romance tossed in here and there between the MC and her male counterpart, and the background continuity of the other books in the series having to do with the "Shades". It interested me enough that I might have to check out the rest of the series.
In closing, I'd like to thank the author, Sharon Ashwood, for the wonderful opportunity to read their book - via BookSprout - in the form of an ARC. I give this *honest* review of my own accord.
Earth is one of many realms secretly inhabited by survivors of the Fae/Shade wars. The Shade are akin to the Fae in language and shape, but their similarities stop there. The Shade are pure evil and thrive on the pleasure created from their chaos which always leads to some form of destruction. The humans and Fae have peacefully coexisted for centuries, with the humans unaware of the Fae’s existence, and the Fae leaving the humans alone. Our heroine, Alana knows she is Fae, but she has no special magical power. She makes a living as a martial artist in the Fae Underground; she’s one half of, “Team Incorruptible,” with her Fae-bestie, Tina. One night, things go horribly wrong, and Tina is killed. Alana believes the fight was rigged, but she was badly injured and in no condition to snoop around. Unskilled, she is forced to take a job in an antique shop and stumbles upon an interesting-looking bottle-type lamp and takes it home. And just like magic, out comes Ronan-the-Genie ( the imprisoned air Fae-Dragon-Prince) and he is ready to grant Alana three wishes.
The author has created a modern-day faery-tale, romance that I absolutely love! Alana and Ronan are complex characters and together form a powerful mental triangle consisting of intelligence, intuitiveness, and resiliency. They are warriors that fit together seamlessly like a puzzle that was meant to be! It’s an action-packed, stand-alone book, which contains enough of a common arc to connect it to the remaining two books of the series. In addition, the author has added two more books to the Crown Fae series: a prequel and a Christmas book, making this a five-book series. Although their story reached a conclusion, and Book One is a delightful story -- Alana and Ronan are such fantastic characters that the author could have easily written a sequel, and I am hoping that she will eventually consider doing so. A great read and I highly recommend this book!
This book was my first exposure to the author's work and while I'm usually not interested in stories that are heavy into steamy romance or sex, this book held my interest, thanks to the quick pacing of the action, the unique mechanics of the magical system and the likability of its main characters. The story follows Alana, a fae underground fighter who was severely injured in the fight that killed her teammate. This experience leaves her without work and looking for a job, so accepts a job in a shop that sells books and magical items. There she discovers a magic lamp. Trapped inside is a djinn named Ronan, a dragon prince from a fae world that has been imprisoned in the lamp and grants 3 wishes to each owner, like djinn often do. Alana is a bit put off by becoming the "master" of a djinn and is hesitant to use her wishes. A romance develops between these two strong characters and it is quite good. The chemistry between them is very believable. Together they must stop the evil Shade, who used reflective surfaces such as mirrors, lakes, etc., hence the shimmer of the title, to enter the fae world and reap destruction and chaos, and now they’re trying to do encroach into the human world, possibly to hunt down fae refugees. I recommend this book if you are a fantasy fan, enjoy fast-paced action and don't mind romance. Even if you are like me, and typically avoid sex in novels, there is plenty to love in this novel and I don't believe the romance really detracted much from the overall story.

This book is a fantastic, fast-paced, and action-packed start to a new series that’s hard to put down. From the first page to the last, it delivers an intriguing blend of suspense, adventure, and heartwarming moments. If you love stories featuring fierce heroines and mysterious supernatural beings, this one won’t disappoint!
The protagonist, Alana, is an intense, no-nonsense warrior on a mission to uncover the truth. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she stumbles upon a magical lamp that holds a sexy and enigmatic genie named Ronan. Their chemistry is palpable from the moment they meet, and their dynamic relationship pulls readers deeper into the narrative, making it easy to root for them.
This adventure is filled with surprising twists, shocking revelations, and plenty of emotional highs and lows. The author does an exceptional job of building suspense while balancing it with moments of sweetness between the characters. The story’s conclusion is especially noteworthy—leaving readers breathless and eagerly awaiting the next installment.
If you're looking for an exhilarating read with a mix of romance, magic, and intense action, this book is for you. I loved every second of it and can't wait to see what comes next in the series!.

This was my first book by this author and I do like it a lot. There are some things I wish were explained in more detail but since it's part of a series I assume it'll be explained later on.
About this book specifically I really like Alana! She's sensible for the most part. She wants revenge on who killed her partner but realizes she needs to heal and have a plan first. When she finds a genie, her first inclination is thanks, but no thanks. And she means it too!
Unlike Ronan... well past/young Ronan. He was a hothead more pride than sense. He seemed to have mellowed out or more accurately been depressed.
While this book is a bit fast-paced I did like their relationship in that they're there for each other. They gave each other hope! Especially Ronan who had given up, til Alana gave him hope.
As for the villains of this book how dare they use mirror magic?? Mirror magic is my second favorite magic, lol. This book was clearly a set up as they won't be defeated until all the elements join together. This makes this book a great lead-in for the other books in the series.
I would like to read the next book in this series to see more of what happens in this world!

ONE TUMULTUOUS ROLLERCOASTER!!! Enthralling! Sharon delivers with this incredibly fascinating approach, spinning all the shenanigans and mayhem, with such ingenuity, immense passion and unique insight, welding this sparkling jewel together sleek, shiny and tight. A tumultuous whirlwind full of unexpected circumstances and startling mishaps, blasts those swirling emotions into play, booting this glittering jewel into a roaring tempest, catapulting it into a tailspin with a mind-blowing culmination. Twixt, twined and combined, exposing the explosive ups and agonizing downs, putting our characters through their paces and bringing it home. Rousting the drama, intrigue, tension, turmoil, danger, underlying currents, mounting suspense and nerve racking situations along with a boatload of sinister intentions while dodging bedlem, you have one chart topping masterpiece. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions you have no problem picturing each scenario creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Amazing job Sharon, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
Ronan, Prince of Bright Wing and commander of his kin, was a dragon warrior who fought to defend the Fae against the Shades, their eternal enemy. These protecting Fae dragons of the Wheel were massive, fearsome creatures of breathtaking beauty and Ronan was the greatest of the dragons. When the Fae homeland was destroyed, Ronan was imprisoned by the Shades’ leader in a magic lamp.
Alana Beech is a Fae, who was severely injured in one of her martial arts fights when someone rigged the cage match. Her best friend was killed as well, and Alana wants to find out who did this. As she is working in a curiosity book store, she finds a lamp containing a genie – Ronan – and they join forces save the Fae. Oddly, it seems as they explore the mystery that those responsible for the rigged fight were also the ones who imprisoned Ronan in the lamp! Can the two of them defeat such powerful enemies? Can they protect not only the Fae but humanity as well?
This was an exciting book that will pull the reader in as Alana begins her search for the murderer of her friend. Adding Ronan to the mix heightens the suspense even more as the two of them partner to work together on the mystery. Grab your copy and see if they can overcome the evil and find their own HEA.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading

Like many adult romance books this one is no different in the descriptive sex scene in the first few chapters after getting your characters, I know for some this is all good and well but for me it puts a bit of a damper on the story and I tend to skip them. It just makes it feel rushed and flimsy in comparison to the rest of the story and the actual romance building.
Except for those parts I did really like the world created and the story going on. Some parts made me feel like a backseat driver, wanting to tell characters to wisen up and not make certain decisions (also, who did not see that last wish coming? It's basic kindness we millenials already learned watching aladdin). I also like that even though the main character fell in love she was still her own person and could take care of herself. This made it a much greater read than those pretend 'tough' protagonists who then turn into the damsel in distress and have to be saved by the love interest, or those who get positively obsessive over each other and can't talk about anything else.

3 wishes, 2 determined warriors, 1 chance at redemption? Hmm....
Meet Alana Beech martial artist, who just lost her teammate during a fight neither knew was a set up sham. Its not often one can find a teammate of that caliber, so to loose them to cheaters is beyond unexceptable. Alana is looking for justice in any way she can get it. No one cares her partner died or about her injuries. Reality hits hard that she has no one. She can't spend day after day with thoughts that she's not strong enough yet to get even. Can getting even, even be enough? Worse she's forced to take a job at a shop just to scrape by. Think worst job you ever had. Digging in box of junk she finds a lamp (cheesy I know) but when your down you damn sure owe it to yourself to pray its a magic one! Who knew a sexy hazardous dragon bent on getting as far from that lamp if he even can, could help her? What if he's a fake too? Bound to the lamp Ronan's forced to give 3 wishes to each possessing it. He hates everything about his current life but if he could get Alana to walk on the wild side of a bed with him why not grant her desires? Their quest goes far beyond one murder....
The author has the ability to create interesting characters whose strength is not obvious but becomes more and more apparent as they face their challenges. Here she introduces us to two characters who were at the top of their respective worlds before they fell and hit rock bottom. Of course, that was when Alana and Ronan had to meet, when each was trying to rebuild themselves from the pits they had each fallen into and were hideously vulnerable and touchy. I really appreciated how they helped each other in deceptively small ways to heal and dream again. It really helped that Alana had a goal, as unlikely and dangerous as it might be, for them to lean toward. The final resolution of their respective public reclamations of their selves was spectacular and profound and thoroughly thrilling. The fact that they won this goal but had others to test them makes this a partnership I want to see continue.

Beware, a genie, a lamp, and three wishes could be dangerous. Alana is a Fae with little magic and is an underground fighter. In her last fight it was rigged and her partner Tina died and Alana was injured so badly she can’t fight again. While working for a book shop/antique dealer she comes across a worthless lamp, but when Alana rubs it a genie comes out named Ronan, granting her three wishes. Alana doesn’t want wishes but she does want to find out who rigger her last fight. As she befriends Ronan they find out the people behind her fight are also the evil Fae and Shades who trapped Ronan in the lamp for centuries. He has not been free to help his dragon shifter people Blacktongue and the Shades. When they enslaved Ronan in the lamp he lost his dragon half. Can these two work together and defeat the evil trying to take over the Fae and Human worlds? I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
This is a fantastic fast paced, action packed, suspenseful, intriguing and sweet (at times) new series. It pulled me in right from the start and kept me captivated and highly entertained right to the end. Who wouldn’t love a story with a kickass warrior woman and a sexy genie in a lamp who can grant wishes!
Alana is one intense and very kickass woman who is on a mission to find the truth. She stumbles upon a special lamp that just happens to have a very sexy genie hiding in it. Right from their first interaction Alana and Ronan have some intense chemistry that draws you in and makes you fall in love with them. Together they take us on an adventure of epic proportions with many surprising twists and turns that will shock you. With an amazing ending leaving you breathless and wanting more!
I loved every second of this story and I can’t wait to see where this author takes us next!
Alana Beech is a tough martial arts trained Fae fighter who loses her partner and best friend in a rigged cage match. Devastated but determined to find justice, she meets an unlikely ally in the form of a Dragon Prince named Ronan. Ronan has been imprisoned in a lamp that Alan finds, making her his reluctant master. From there they work together to solve the mystery behind the murder -- a mystery which is linked to Ronan's own past and his destiny.
I enjoyed the sexy hot scenes as well as the way the relationship between these two built up. Alana remained tough throughout the book instead of stepping back and letting Ronan save the day. And Ronan is one hot dragon genie! This story is fast-paced, the world building is strong, and the enemy is a worthy adversary who uses mirror magic -- always a fun form. I'm looking forward to the next book!

This is a fun premise for a book, and the characters are likeable. Alana is a cage fighter, trying to make a living and just barely squeaking by. When her partner/teammate is killed in a rigged fight, Alana is alone and forced to take a crap job to pay the bills as the injuries she has prevents her from fighting and she doesn’t have a lot of magical blood. But she comes across a lamp only to find a real genie inside ready to grant her three wishes.
Ronan is a dragon prince, who was imprisoned in the lamp, and has spent centuries granting wishes and corrupting the people that use them. When he comes across Alana, she gives him hope for breaking the curse.
I would have liked better world building, but the character development was good and the there were a couple of good twists at the end. I wanted to tell Alana a few tips at times, but she got there in the end without my interference.
Alana, an underground martial art (and fae) fighter, searches for answers. Someone wanted her partner Tina dead; so she was. Awash in pain and grief, Alana is desperate for answers, yet must still survive. As a broken fighter, she has very little in the way of marketable skills... Desperate, she seeks assistance from Barleycorn, a fae employment agency.
Ronan, Prince of Bright Wing air fae, was defeated in battle by the treacherous water fae Harin Blacktongue. The blackest of dark magic binds Roman to the confines of a small prison, stripping him of his innate shifter magic, and forcing him into an eternity of unending servitude... Until Alanna finds him, and hope was born anew...
Absolutely enthralling! A fresh and unique tale with magic, mayhem, betrayal, redemption, danger and desire... Highly recommend to anyone that enjoys epic fantasy with erotic undertones.
Alana is an underground fighter who’s teammate was killed and she hurt badly. She gets a job at a book/curiosity shop and finds a lamp and rubs it. Ronan is a the genie that comes out but he’s really a dragon shifter prince and has been enslaved in the lamp for a long time. He tells her she has three wishes. But she wants to know why her teammate was killed in the fight that was fixed. They agree to help each other and find some answers. A shade is murdering fae and is now after the human world as the fae are fleeing to their world. Alana and Ronin are together now but he needs to get to his world to see what is happening but she still, has her wishes. What will happen next?

Our heroine is a fighter in underground matches, but she is also fae. And when her partner is killed in a match, she is going to need every skill she has just to stay alive, let alone find the person that ordered the death.
This is book one of an urban fantasy series. The story is very well written and easy to read with a well developed setting that has lots of depth to it. The characters are also well developed, smart, strong and tough, just the way I like them. The plot has several twists and turns to it that keep things moving and the reader guessing at the same time. Overall, this was a really fun read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended.

A fae war has spilled across the barrier in the form of asylum seekers and magical items. As well as the blood games of the fae. Alana had never known anything but the human world and fighting. Fighting for herself and her friends she entered a ring match only to see her best friend go down poisoned. Not much was left after that but pain and, revenge. That is until she bought a gaudy lamp from an old lady. It contained a jinn. The jinn was no mere jinn. A weapon in the form of three wishes, pretty much guaranteed to seduce anyone or anything to the dark side. And he had an agenda of his own once he stopped reeling from being shown friendship and kindness.
This was a great book. It combined modern day with magic, a mystery and invasion. I thought Alana was a great character that was not the typical Fae.or typical girl but instead an amazing women who thought she was just a simple orphan but instead ended up in the thick of things. The story hooked me from the first chapter and kept me glued to the end. The writing and story was engaging and entertaining. The bits of mystery were interesting and I kept rooting for Alana throughout the whole story. The rest of the characters were fun and great too. Just a great book to start a new series that I cannot wait to see what happens next.
Ronan was a dragon warrior fighting to preserve the Fae against the evil Shades. Alana is an orphan Fae in the modern world, who was injured and lost her best friend and fighting partner, Tina in a rigged cage match. Now working in a book store, wishing to learn who set them up. She finds a lamp with a genie inside, who is Ronan, captured and held there by the evil leader of the Shades centuries before. This unlikely pair team up to save the Fae. Lots of twists and turns and romance as these characters learn about each other.

Exciting 5 stars - I didn’t realize that Shimmer came before Shatter in the Crown Fae series. However, having read and really liked Shatter did not spoil anything in the plot of Shimmer. I love how Alana’s character is strong, intelligent, brave and not afraid to show vulnerabilities. She has integrity. Ronan’s genie character is so different from Disney’s portrayal of the genie in the magic lamp. It’s a different take on the granting of wishes. This book, from start to finish, was full of action and captivated my attention. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
Alana was a top level underground fighter who had lost her partner and been severely injured during a rigged fight. During her quest for revenge she finds an old lamp that turns out to hold a genie, Ronan, a trapped dragon shifter from the Fae Realm. Ronan agrees to help Alana find out who betrayed her while she keeps his lamp away from those who originally imprisoned him. The more time they spend together the closer they become, and when Alana’s second wish sends them to the Fae Realm she meets his remaining family and joins the fight there. While reading. I have realized that I have read this book in some anthology. And I did not remember anything from it except the protagonists and the first scene of the fight in the introduction. There was really nothing particularly memorable about the story, though the idea is quite good. The protagonists are likable. the story itself is fast-paced. I could do without the bed scene, though. It was pleasant to re-read it, but the thing is - I will forget it again.

I was hesitant to read this story at first. It sounded to complex. However, I started and boy was I hooked just in the first couple of chapters. It’s fast paced and action packed with just the right amount of romance added in. The characters are so well developed that you feel like you’re old friends. The world building is very detailed and enthralling. The story line pulls you in. I was reading this book all night, couldn’t put it down. This author has brought the Fae, human and Dragon world together with a twist on Aladdin’s Lamp. The plot is a dragon trapped in a lamp by a corrupt mysterious dark power. The characters are strong and sexy. The women are physically strong and complicated and are the leading characters. This world of MMA style fighting and magic uncovered secrets from two worlds. Murder, bribery and greed makes this an awesome story. I must read the next in the series.
