Milo sold his soul to the devil to save an angel.
Now he’s after revenge.

There are worse prisons than the lush estate of a notorious drug smuggler in Mexico. Mercy lives out her days alone and hidden from the world, but her sleep is riddled with nightmares of the muti and all the boys and girls just like her who weren’t lucky enough to get away.

If the people who kept her as a child are in Mexico, is it possible she could find them?

What starts as vigilante justice unravels a web of human trafficking deeper and darker than Milo and Mercy could’ve imagined. When she comes face-to-face with the people she once considered family, she proves she is far from the Angel they raised her to be.

Saint is the sequel, and must be read after Ghostgirl. So I want to warn you that this review could contain spoilers!

"In order for her to be free of the visions that torment her, for us to move forward together, I need to help heal her soul. There's only one way I can do that. She needs retribution. She has to bury the monsters from her past in order for her to find hope in our future."

After finishing Ghostgirl I couldn't wait to get my hands on Saint. I initially thought that GG was a stand-alone, but was happy to see that Milo and Mercy's story would continue in Saint. There was no way the author could tell their story in just one book, so I appreciated her taking the time to fully tell the story. This book is about Mercy finding out where she's from and having to deal with the consequences of the actions they took in the first book. Milo is one of the most dedicated heroes I read in a very long while. Everything he did, he did for Mercy. Even though it sometimes meant he had to lie and hide things from her. Mercy is very curious and obviously wants to know what is going on. After leaving on prison, she is in another one, and as the days pass it gets harder and harder for her to cope. She needs answers and that results in her doing something that puts her in harm's way. Her action put me on the edge of my seat, I was so tense and nervous to see what would happen next.

"I went from Milo the high school senior foster kid, to Emilio Vega, son of Esteban, prince to the LS-active gang member, drug and gun smuggler, and enforcer."

Saint is a perfect continuation/conclusion to Milo and Mercy's story. I wouldn't change a thing about this book. It had me on such an emotional roller coaster, which was the reason it took me longer than usual to finish this book. I really wanted to savor everything and not just sprint to the end. Even though Mercy and Milo are young, their love was so strong and real. I could feel it through the pages, and I really wanted them to get their HEA. Saint was emotional, suspenseful, action-packed, sweet, and very hot! This book was original and very dynamic. Even though the first quarter was a bit slow, it didn't bother me at all. It gave me time to get to know the characters even better, and see how they were growing in the situation they were in. I wouldn't change anything about this book. I wanted the story to never end, because I love the characters so much and I didn't want to say goodbye. I really hope that other characters in this book will get their own story. J.B. Salsbury is one of the few authors whose books I'll blindly pick up. She is amazing and a phenomenal author.

Talk about a follow-up!! Saint was everything that we were waiting for in the conclusion to this beautifully different complex story. Our questions were answered, the love was stronger, and the danger was in fact more real. You never had to wonder if this story was going to keep you on your toes, because it did.

Picking up right where it left off with “Ghostgirl", this story wasted no time in going in. Milo is on a mission to keep Mercy safe by any means necessary even if that means putting himself at risk. Now living in Mexico and working for his father, the safest place for them was his compound and when you’re father is a drug lord, hospitality always come with a price.

“Everything a journey, a wild ride with constant surprises.

I have loved Milo and Mercy’s relationship from the beginning but their connection and devotion to each other felt much stronger in this story and I couldn’t get enough of it! Milo went above and beyond to give Mercy normal things that we would’ve taken for granted and I liked that he was never afraid to show his love for her.

Add in some mystery suspense, hidden danger, and one passionate couple who would do anything to stay together and protect their loved ones, you’ve got yourself one heck of a story.

Story – 4.5 Stars!

Mercy was a very sheltered Albino girl who was brainwashed to believe that she was a spiritual healer. At the age of 19, she is found outside the Mexican border. After being institutionalized, she moves in with a foster family. There she meets Milo, a 20-year-old ex-gangster and high school student who also lives with her new foster family. Their connection is almost immediate.
Book 1 focused on Mercy adjusting to the outside world, how people react to her albinism, and her relationship development with Milo. It’s a slow burn, and I loved every minute of it. I fell in love with both Milo and Mercy.

Book 2 is darker. There’s mention of violence, gang related activity, kidnapping, human trafficking, mutilation of albino people…just heart-wrenching atrocities. Not all of it is detailed, but it was enough to leave an impression.

The growth of Mercy’s character was what I found most satisfying of the duet. They were subtle, but noticeable. I wish this was a trilogy, because I want more of Milo and Mercy’s story.

“Her soul is my anchor, and I feed off her touch.
I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, which only intensifies every moment we have left together.”

-Milo

"Saint" is the sequel to "Ghostgirl" which i also rated 5-stars.In the former book Milo Vega sold his soul to his father who is a despicable crime lord in order to save the love of his life Mercy Bernadette. In this book Mercy keeps on feeling that she is prisoned in the luxurious mansion, having no idea what criminal deeds Milo is forced to do to keep her safe.He is also blood thristy for revenge against the people who held her captive in her past.

J.B Salsbury presents very unique characters in the very epic and powerful love between Milo and Mercy.Together they are very much Beautiful couple and the pure and passionate bond between them made me cry sometimes. The author takes their relationship on a deeper level in this book with trust issues and the need for independence. While Mercy wants freedom Milo obsess over her safety and the need to avenge her,but he can`t see how much he hurts her by doing that.Milo is a explosive Alpha-male and a very possessive and caring lover when it comes to his Mercy. Her light combined with his darkness makes for a irresistible connection between the two.I love that they saved the albino children Dom and the little girl, the horrors they must have faced made me so sick.

This was a adventure i could never forget.Suspenseful, heartwrenching, stunning and romantic. This story is written with such care and honesty that i found myself glued to ever page. The ending made me giddy and happy with Milo,Mercy and their family,so grateful the author gave them that since i honestly was worried about their fates sometimes.

~SAINT~ A different kind of savior

Saint is book two in JB Salsbury's Mercy Series. This is a duet, and book one, Ghostgirl should be read first.

In Saint, Salsbury takes us on what feels like the grown up part of this couple's journey. As you'll find out in the conclusion of Ghostgirl, Milo and Mercy find themselves in a situation that makes the trials and tribulations of getting through High School now seem like a joy ride.

"If I close my eyes as I face the ocean I can pretend Mercy and I are on a different coast. ~ I can escape the life of Emilio Vega, son of a drug-smuggling, arms-dealing thug, and just be Milo."

Unfortunately for both Milo and Mercy, that just isn't possible. There are so many layers to this book, ones that I won't share in the review simply because I don't want to spoil the adventure. But what I can say, is that the stakes are high, and the payment for their freedom comes with a hefty price tag.

I think one of my favorite overall things about SAINT, is that while Salsbury gives us an amazing and sometimes suspenseful anxiety filled journey, she also packs it full of the sweetest moments I've ever read. It's a love story that goes so far beyond boy meets girl, that you not only get swept up in their commitment to one another, but also their determination to one day be free.

"I taste the salt of my tears until the flavor dissolves between our frenzied kiss. Just like everything else, Milo manages to erase the pain and replace it with his love."

*Insert heart eye emojis and a big sigh... Man I love me some Milo*

This uniquely beautiful story will keep you turning pages and losing sleep. And for those of you who have been watching the days tick slowly by, just know that every chapter is worth the wait.

“Life was much simpler when good was good and bad was bad, but out here, bad things can be good and good things can be evil.”
“That’s the beauty of life, mi alma.”

Ghostgirl, the first book in the Mercy Duet kept us on the edge and broke our hearts as we cared so deeply for Mercy, Milo, their plight, and their future. These two star-crossed lovers had much more to tell and we were eager to follow their journey into this conclusion. Once again, JB Salsbury didn’t disappoint, delivering a truth within a tale wrapped in a touching, and at times, fateful love story, as we lived and breathed every moment of Mercy and Milo’s predicament.

‘The power is our capacity to love.’

Saint picks up where we left off in Ghostgirl. We won’t divulge too much in case you haven’t read Ghostgirl, we don’t want to spoil it for you, other than to say, we wanted so much for Mercy and Milo to find the happiness and peace they craved and deserved, but their pasts, their promises, their sacrifices and their loyalty to their family meant they were constantly in fear of their lives and what might lurk in the shadows.

The Mercy Series is suspenseful, beautiful, emotional and gripping. It’s also poignant and horrifyingly real in some of the situations it depicts, which makes it that much more intense. To think there is a world that preys on those like Mercy is tragic and evil.

“You and me. Not a single thing on earth will ever come between us….Never….”

Mercy has come into her own in this book. She’s beginning to question her life and choices, with Milo constantly warring with himself between keeping Mercy safe and giving in to her wants and desires. It’s a fine line and one that could cost them dearly. Mercy finds his protection stifling, Milo finds it a necessity. Mercy may seem like a fragile girl, but underneath she has a tenacity and strength that continues to blossom. Milo made a deal with the devil to protect Mercy and pays the price daily.

“I’ve spent all my life being treated like an expensive toy. All I want is to be treated like a woman who has the love of a man like you.”

Milo and Mercy story is one of true soulmates, a deep love story of two total opposites who attract. There is something so right about the union of Milo and Mercy that hits you deep in the heart. JB Salsbury wove a fictional tale of love, deceit, greed, and evil amongst the pure, innocent and the beautiful. A fitting end to what has been a gripping, gut churning, heart rending story.

4 stars!

The follow-up to the uniquely beautiful Ghostgirl, this book gives us an exciting, thrilling, and gorgeously romantic ending to Milo and Mercy’s story, recapturing all the feels from the first book and finally bringing closure to their pasts as they fight hard for the life they want together.

“Forever. You and me. Not a single thing on earth will ever come between us.”

Warning that this review will contain some spoilers for Ghostgirl.

The last book ended with Mercy’s life in danger and she and Milo escaped to Mexico to hide her and to give Milo a chance to hunt down the threat to her. For Milo, it means diving into his past, living in the darkness and doing unspeakable things as he searches for answers, while Mercy finds herself pretty much a prisoner once again – protected for sure, but unable to leave and kept in the dark as to exactly what Milo is up to.

I thought protecting her body was enough. I was wrong. In order to her to be free of the visions that torment her, for us to move forward together, I need to help heal her soul. There’s only one way I can do that. She needs retribution. She has to bury the monsters from her past in order for her to find hope in our future.

It’s a slower pace to things as we get reacquainted with these two and what they’re up to, and come to understand the position they are in. Through dual POV we can see both perspectives and the difficulties they are going through, and the emotion of it all is beautifully written.

“Tell me why you’re hiding this part of your life from me. I won’t continue to live like this.”
Now it’s his turn to step back. “What the hell does that mean?”
“It means I’m scared!”
“You’re safe here, you know that. Nothing can hurt you--”
“Except you.”
He flinches as if I’ve slapped him. “I would never hurt you.”
“Losing you would
kill me.”

And in the middle of it all is an absolutely beautiful love story. Intense, passionate and all-consuming, Milo and Mercy’s love for each other has a sense of innocence about it – it’s pure and it’s everything to the both of them, but I loved seeing a bit more maturity to it than I felt in the first book as they are now 100% comfortable with each other, not holding their feelings back and eagerly exploring that at every opportunity… hotness!

“I’ve spent all my life being treated like an expensive toy. All I want is to be treated like a woman who has the love of a man like you.”

They want nothing more than to be together, and their struggle to have that unfolds beautifully within the danger and suspense of the story, and when the unthinkable happens, everything is ramped up and I couldn’t put the book down as it builds to its exciting climax that had me on the edge of my seat and feeling everything!

Her soul is my anchor, and I feed off her touch.
I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, which only intensifies every moment we have left together.

OMG, the feels!!! After a slow start, things certainly pick up in the second half, and I loved watching it all happen. J.B. Salsbury writes with fantastic emotion which brings so much to the story, and it’s a fantastic ride, ending in a great place with an epilogue that finishes everything off beautifully.

I loved this one! 4 stars.

I felt so bad that Mercy ended up back where she started: being confined for her own good. Her character growth was amazing. Milo worried me a bit. He seemed a bit obsessive concerning her. I did love how the story ended.

I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Milo and Mercy…what a story! Milo has to work for his father in return for saving Mercy. Milo knew he would be bound to his father and would be at his beck and call. Milo is set on revenge to those who held Mercy captive. This revenge has blinded his perception that Mercy was eager to let her past go and move forward to live their lives.

When Mercy takes it upon herself to find out what Milo’s been doing, she didn’t anticipate she would end up in the exact same location where her life began. Mercy is cognizant of what’s going on around her this time. Mercy finds the power and determination to help others in captivity even when she is skeptical that Milo can save her.

JB takes you on a ride that’s twisty and shadowy with Milo and Mercy’s story. Two people who want to love and live freely. They both must face their past first before they can achieve their hopes and dreams. Don’t worry, JB gives us a HEA but the road to the ultimate destination has you feeling fear, hate & love in all its glory. Well written and grips your heart.

This is the second part and conclusion of Ghost Girl.

I have to say that I enjoyed this book as much as the first one. This one, I believe, was much darker.
They went through so much hardship, both alone and together, it just broke my heart. It seemed at times that there would be no way out of the situations they were in.

The good always prevails though, right? YESSS!! Well most of the time anyway.

I thoroughly recommend this series. It is heartfelt, brutal, full of angst, yet full of love too. Incredibly touching book and has some very humorous parts as well. I fell in love with these characters and hopefully you will too.

HO-LEE Buckets. What an incredible journey! Literally no emotion was left untouched as I lost myself completely in the resolution to Milo and Mercy's story. I even uttered an audible curse at one point when the intensity reached a peak point and my brain could no longer contain its reaction. J.B. Salsbury has delivered one heck of a wild ride and my heart is still racing from it all.

Saint is the second book in the Mercy duet, and Ghostgirl must be read first in order for this one to make any sense. Saint picks up right where Ghostgirl leaves off and the tone is a little bit different this time around. We started with high school - where things were edgy, but also innocent and maybe a little mystical. In Saint we get a far more grown up Milo and Mercy who must overcome obstacle after hair-raising obstacle in their quest to avenge their pasts and make peace with the lives they'd been given.

This story is unbelievably compelling. It's exciting and suspenseful. It sometimes hurt to read and other times it filled my heart with so much happiness. This is a gorgeous and pure love story wrapped in layers of action, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and gritty drama. It was fascinating, original, and utterly unputdownable. My mind is a little blown, my heart is littered with bruises, but left overflowing with happiness by the ending, which felt like some kind of reward for all that these fantastic characters have been through. I loved every minute with Mercy and Milo and absolutely, enthusiastically recommend this duet! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

every time i pick up a JB Salsbury book, i’m completely enthralled, glued to my kindle until i get to the last page and Saint was no different.

BRAV-FREAKING-O on this masterpiece of a book!!

i can’t even fully process all the things tumbling around in my head right now.
this book was EVERYTHING!

Milo and Mercy’s conclusion wasn’t easy to read at all.
it was painful, heartbreaking, soul clenching-but it was also sweet, heartfelt and beautiful.
a true blending of souls, a journey of loss and light and finding the salve that heals your chaffed and aching soul.

i want to crawl into this book and never leave!!

“Are you lost?”….. “Aren’t we all?”

What an amazing conclusion to Milo & Mercy’s unique story! The journey that Milo and Mercy experience is one that starts out unsure and awkward but blossoms into more. It is filled with ups and downs, and desperate moments. They fight for freedom but it comes with a price.

Milo is fighting to keep Mercy safe. Sacrifices are made. They find themselves in the last place either of them would ever want to be – Mexico. The only place to go for safety and security is the estate/compound owned by Milo’s father Esteban, aka El Jefe. But safety and security comes with a price. Milo gives a little piece of himself every time he must do something for El Jefe.

“I came to Mexico and needed a place to stay, but Esteban’s hospitality comes at a price.”

Mercy is kind, sweet, and pure. She has suffered greatly at the hands of others both emotionally and mentally. Ghostgirl ended with a bang and Mercy is in grave danger. I needed more! I needed to see where this would take me! Mercy is thrown into yet another world that she doesn’t understand. I was on the edge of my seat while each scenario unfolded. So many complications and layers to her story.

“You are brave, you will persevere, and your reward will be your freedom.”

And Milo! What can I say about him!!! He is strong, loyal and loving. His connection with Mercy is soul deep and emotional. Two feelings that he has never experienced. His upbringing had him surrounded by gangs and violence – the “normal” for him. But through it all he knew that family was the most important thing. When it comes to Mercy he struggles with his own self-worth. He never gives up. Milo realizes that family is not only those who share your blood.

The missing pieces of the puzzle come together. My heart was pounding in my chest as discoveries are made as well as choices. Saint is a wonderful conclusion to the unique Ghostgirl. Such a great ride! J.B. Salsbury does it again with this captivating and unique duet. I can’t wait to see what see writes next! I will definitely be reading it!

“Everything is a journey, a wild ride with constant surprises.”

~ 4.5 Power To Love Stars ~

Saint is the conclusion to Milo and Mercy’s story. When I read Ghostgirl (book 1) I didn’t have any idea that there would be a book 2 in the series, but I am glad she gave us one. I think it truly completed the story.

I thought Saint was just as wonderful and jaw dropping as Ghostgirl. The only thing I thought could’ve been changed was the length of the story. I thought it could’ve been shortened a little. There were certain parts that I thought slowed the progression of the story down and could’ve been left out. But over all this was another AMAZING story.

I don’t believe that Saint is a standalone novel. In my opinion Ghostgirl MUST be read before reading Saint. Saint is the continuation of Milo and Mercy’s story. This story is told in Dual POV and is the final book of this series. As with Ghostgirl, I thought Saint was a unique and captivating story. It was so much more than just a romance novel. It digs deep into the feelings of Milo and Mercy. This is a story of trust, and strength. I will warn you though, JB goes to the darker side of this underworld. It’s nothing too graphic but there could be some spots that make readers uncomfortable. I know I was at a certain point in this story.

There isn’t a lot more I can say about the storyline in Saint, because I don’t want to spoil anything. Just know that each book that JB Salsbury gives us is better than the one before. Her books have always drawn me in and I can’t wait to read more by her. This book will have your heart beat racing and mind running. As you read this story you will have some questions, but rest assured they are answered by the end of the story.

I honestly can’t rave enough about this book. It had everything I look for in a book!! This is definitely a book you don’t want to miss reading. Don’t wait….READ this book NOW. I don’t think you will be sorry.

Just so you know, Ghost Girl is the first book in this series and needs to be read first.
If ten stars were possible, this book would definitely deserve it. As it was said in the book, "Everything is a journey, a wild ride with constant surprises." This story was a journey through wanting to save the one you love no matter what it means to you. A story with surprises that will make you cheer and then cry, but a good cry.
When Milo and Mercy head to Mexico, they think it will only be for a short time. But revenge is the only thing Milo sees. Finding the one who held Mercy captive for so long and getting justice for Mercy. The only problem is that Mercy has gone from one prison to another. Stuck in the compound of El Jefe, Milo's father, Mercy wants to know where Milo goes every night. When she follows him one night, things go wrong immediately. Now Milo is in a race against time to find Mercy. Knowing his father does not approve, Milo goes against the demands of his father to find Mercy and it could mean his life in the LS. The LS hold onto his every move and he is willing to risk it all to let Mercy have a normal life. But a life that may not include him.
I can barely put into words the way I feel after reading this book. Mercy and Milo are characters so incredibly written you get lost easily lost in the story. At one point I felt like I was right there along with Milo and looking for Mercy. I was so caught up in the passion the two have for each other because the writing makes you feel that. The ending pulled at my heart and I wanted to slow down reading to make it last. But it had to end and there is no other way I would want to see the ending. It completely fits the characters of Mercy and Milo.
JB Salsbury, once again I am in awe of you and your talent for telling a story. Don't stop doing what you do best. Thank you for bringing us Mercy and Milo and their beautiful story.

Its an epic conclusion you won't be able to predict. On the run, Milo and Mercy have taken sanctuary in the one place Milo feared; his fathers estate in Mexico. Joining the Saints was the only way to ensure Mercy's protection but it comes with a price. Trapped day after day in the compound Mercy fears she's traded one prison for another. Milo's reluctance to tell her why they are truly there mixed with her fear makes for a ticking time bomb inside our Ghostgirl. Milo will have to face his worst fears once she detonates.

Mercy's stuck in a gilded cage once more. Clouded in secrecy, Milo doesn't tell her where he goes at all hours of the night, only that it's to protect her. But if they are supposed to be against the world, she needs to know the truth. She loves Milo but she can't be kept caged anymore. After following him one night, Mercy ends up right wear she feared; back with Papa and in the hell she first escaped. But his time she's seen the world and can see the between the lies they tell. This time Mercy is determined to break the cage, not just out of it.

A final secret within those walls will tear everything Milo and Mercy believe apart. Mercy has to have the strength she's always fought for whole Milo has to have faith in her abilities. Salsbury perfectly switches their two responsibilities this story. Mercy's own strength and beliefs is what instills them to survive while Milo's unwavering faith in Mercy backs their every decision. Filled with moral quandaries and blurring the line between right and wrong, Saint delivers another powerful message about personal faith and fighting for the truth.

Saint is the second book in the duet series and must be read after Ghostgirl.

“Everything is a journey, a wild ride with constant surprises.”

I couldn’t have said it any better. This is exactly how I felt reading Saint.

Escaping to Mexico to make peace only leads Milo and Mercy to further problems and boy do they go through some trying times. I was on the edge of my seat the entire read. In Saint, you see a different side of Milo and Mercy. They are no longer the high school kids you knew. Living with Milo’s father is not what they imagined. Milo is forced to keep things from Mercy in order to protect her but all it does is puts a strain on their relationship.

“I’ve spend all my life being treated like an expensive toy. All I want is to be treated like a woman who has the love of a man like you.”

Secrets hidden from their past are revealed. When they surface you’ll get a better understanding to all the questions you had in Ghostgirl. Some will leave you heartbroken to what they find behind closed doors.

I absolutely loved this duet. I couldn’t get enough and wanted more.

Wow, just wow! I was drawn in from the very first sentence and it would not let me go. This is a perfect duet ending! Its action packed with Revenge, survival, and love. This is the first book in long time that I felt like every one of my questions are answered with a last book. This book will have you on the edge of your seat turning the pages faster and faster. I love Mercy and Milo! I found myself pulling for them right away. His devotion and determination pulls you in. Her silent strength and beauty will have you falling in love with her. The chemistry between these two is off the charts hot! At one point I found myself holding my breath flipping the pages. This is a must read! I recommend this duet to anyone and everyone

Finally!!! The ending these two should have got without the torture they both went through.

This is book 2 of a duo, book 1 being Ghostgirl.

This book picks up where book 1 ended.

Milo and Mercy are still living at Milo's fathers compound in Mexico. In order for them to be safe Milo has to do his fathers bidding. He's forced to do things he knows he can never wipe from his soul but he does them for her. Mercy.

Mercy is slowly going made being locked away again. All her life she was trapped in a room with no exit. She may not be there anymore but she feels as though she is. She knows Milo wants to keep her safe but she can't stand being kept locked up.

Milo is trying to find the people who cause a threat to Mercy but he's not having much luck. The secrecy surrounding the MUTI is impenetrable and not even his fathers name is getting access. He see's the change in Mercy but he can't do anything to help. His fathers compound is the only place she will be safe so he keeps her there even though he knows she can't take much more.

Mercy is doing her own digging into the MUTI and what she finds is horrifying. She is determined to help the victims of them but she doesn't know how. Kept locked up she becomes desperate and paranoid. She's not sure what Milo is up to. She knows staying in the compound is killing her and Milo.

Can these two ever have a life of freedom? It's looking less and less likely they will both survive.

I just absolutely loved this duo. Book 1 introduces us to two characters like no others. I loved the uniqueness of them both and book 2 gives us the journey they both take and finally the HEA you will hope for from the very beginning.

The author makes you care so much about both these characters. Mercy will break your heart. She's been through so much in her short life. But the way she grows from an innocent victim of abuse to the strong independent woman she is at the end is wonderful to read. Her soul is so beautiful and maybe that is because of her terrible beginning, who knows. But what i do know is that she has a heart of gold and it shines like a beacon throughout both books.

Milo is so swoony!! Honestly he's also been given a rubbish life from birth. With who his father is he didn't have much chance of a good life but his innate goodness will not be tempered. You see his love for his brothers and when he meets Mercy his protective instincts go into overdrive. I love how after his initial reaction he simply falls head over heels for her. And when his Spanish tongue comes out you'll be an absolute goner!! YUM!

This book pulls you along for the tough road they travel. The beginning shows the struggles they go though to be together. The middle shows you them breaking day by day trying to survive. The end... ohhhhh what an ending!! You'll absolutely hate parts but what pans out is the best ending ever for them.

The writing is impeccable. You feel everything. You hunger for revenge and death on their behalf. You'll weep for the heartache they've been through and continue to live, but the happy tears you get are worth it all.

JB Salsbury always delivers a gritty read and this is no exception. I loved it!!

3.5 stars

This happened to me with another two-part series I read recently. I loved the first book and seeing the main couple get to know each other and fall in love, and then I'm bored with them in book 2. There's only so many sickly sweet love declarations I can handle. This book had a good plot and some exciting moments, and overall I liked it. However, I didn't love it. I couldn't get over some of the MC's stupid decisions. I still don't understand why Milo couldn't be a gang-member in LA, but I assume his father "requested" his presence in Mexico. The selfish thing was his decision to bring Mercy with him. We weren't given any indication that her life would have been in danger if she stayed. That's another thing; the Muti were built to be this big feared faction that Mercy learned about in the first book. They were so briefly mentioned in book 1 I had to ask myself how Mercy was so obsessed with them at the beginning of this book.

Anyway, back to stupid decisions. Mercy makes the most stupidly crazy decision in this book that almost made me say "well, serves you right" when bad things happen. Ugh, how could I feel sorry for her when she just walks into danger? Then we had Milo, who had a few moments where I really disliked him. At one point he locks Mercy up "for her protection". Seriously? You don't think she could lock the door herself from the inside? So insensitive and controlling. I did like learning about the awful things albino people go through in certain countries and the crazy healing cult. The ending was nice, but bit too cheesy for my liking.

Picking up right from where “Ghostgirl” left us hanging, Milo and Mercy’s tumultuous journey continues on in “Saint,” rescuing desperate readers from the edge of a very torturous cliff.

As their gut-wrenching saga sweeps forward, Milo finds himself being pulled further and further into his father’s dirty dealings, while Mercy becomes a virtual prisoner to her new surroundings. For Milo, retribution is the name of the game, while Mercy becomes lost in her own despair.

Above all else, Milo is desperate in his need to keep Mercy safe. Thus, he continually shuts Mercy out, shielding her from the truth. Milo’s actions only prove to turn a bad situation even worse, when Mercy takes matters into her own hands and ends up falling prey to those that mean her harm. And though Milo will stop at nothing to rescue his angel from the devil’s evil grip, the clock is rapidly ticking on Milo’s life, as well.

Beautifully tragic and darkly compelling, the conclusion to Milo and Mercy’s story is just as powerful as was their beginning. Boasting a unique and interesting premise, their story pulled me in right from the very start and held me captive right up until the very end. A perfect blend of heart, sin and suspense, author JB Salsbury totally nailed this duet from start to finish!
