What’s ice-cold but hotter than hell? Rebounding with your ex’s older brother, of course.

A perfect storm led me to this place. Ghosted by my fiancé, I was suddenly broke, heartbroken and facing eviction. Enter Mason Leo, the six feet and two inches of pure muscle and arrogance I’ve hated with a passion since the day we met. The man is cocky, womanizing and ruinously gorgeous.

Worse than that, he’s my ex’s brother. And for the next two weeks, he gets to do with me as he pleases.

I’ll explain.

With both our exes – wait for it – set to marry each other in St. Lucia, I’ve agreed to let Mason pay my debts so long as I play his date. My only job is to keep my clothes on while I get my closure. Because as much as I hate Mason Leo, the man is a walking sex god. And in the name of revenge, he gets to take me out, show me off – dress, touch and kiss me with those wicked lips. It’s all for show, but every night in paradise with him brings more drinks, more drama and another temptation, so no matter what I do, I can’t stop reminding myself this:

There’s absolutely no good to come from f*cking my ex’s brother.

No matter how good it’ll feel.

***4 STARS***

I thoroughly enjoyed this stand-alone romance by Stella Rhys. It is one of her earlier works but it stands strong with her Irresistible Series.

Taylor has just been ghosted by her boyfriend Aaron of many years. He just up and disappeared...breaking up with her without a reason why. She is wallowing in her sadness when Aaron's hotter brother Mason shows up to her home with a wedding invitation. Aaron is getting married to Mason's ex and Mason wants her to accompany him to the wedding in St. Lucia. Taylor is mortified until Mason begins working on breaking down her walls and the two of them get to know one another better. She sees that the person she thought Mason was is not who he actually is.

Rebound with your ex's older brother? Sounds a little taboo to me but Stella Rhys makes it sexy. Plus Mason has everything Aaron doesn't have and you will have to read the book to find out what that is. This was a good and hot read. The love scenes were intense and Stella Rhys always pushes the envelope with the sex scenes which makes them more intense. A good book and I recommend.

First of all, I SO NEEDED THIS.

Ex Games, you are the SAVIOR of the fake relationship trope. OMG. I'm so bad at writing coherent reviews when I've just finished something I LOVE, but I have to do this before I don't so let me just be non-traditional here and list the 3 best things about this fucking glorious book.

1. MASON LEO/PANTY-MELTING BANTER

On a scale of 1-10 this banter was somewhere around an 18. I mean it's been established that I love Stella's writing but this might be my favorite for the banter alone. I was dying so hard this is the FIRST TIME the boyfriend has ever asked me to read the passage to him. CONGRATULATE ME, GUYS, I GOT MY BF TO READ ROMANCE.

2. THE SEXUAL TENSION

I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of pretend girlfriend/boyfriend books and I definitely haven't read a relationship progress as perfectly as these two. Sometimes they just hook up way too fast, other times it takes forever. Ex Games gets it so perfectly right that I'm just here like

The development of Mason's feelings for Taylor are so believable I could actually feel the slowly building heat between them and I enjoyed every goddamned second of it.

3. THE TWIST/THE ENDING

I honestly didn't think this book was going to have a twist because it didn't seem like the type that needed one, but once you get that surprise at the end you're just like

Read this motherfucker. Read this book. Read it so hard. I can't even stress it enough. I'm going to reread it like now (a.k.a before 2016 BUT STILL).

Taylor Simms got the surprise of her life when her fiancée, Aaron, left her out of nowhere without so much as a note to explain why. Left with all of their joint bills to pay by herself, she was forced to get a second job to stay afloat. One day, Mason Leo, Aaron’s older brother, shows up at her apartment unannounced, and delivers some even more startling news.

Aaron is getting married to Mason’s ex-girlfriend, Eva, and soon. Mason believes Eva is marrying Aaron to get back at him, and he doesn’t want that for his brother. He asks Taylor to attend the wedding as his date with the hope that his brother will realize his mistake and call the whole thing off.

Taylor has always detested Mason. He is the last person that she wants to be spending anytime with. Anticipating her reluctance, he promises to pay off all of her debt if she agrees to be his plus one. At first, Taylor turns him down, but after a particularly hellish night at work, she agrees on the condition that she be seen as his girlfriend and not some cheap fling.

The only problem they have now is getting everyone to buy that they are an actual couple. Taylor’s strong dislike of Mason is widely known amongst members of their social circles. Can they really convince everyone that their fauxmance is real?

Over the course of their “relationship,” sparks begin to fly. It becomes harder for Taylor to remember that none of this is supposed to be real. What’s going to happen when it all comes to end?

Ex Games is the first book that I have ever read by Stella Rhys. That’s a shame, because I have clearly been missing out! Do you love those books that grab your interest from the first page and hold on until the end? How about those books that help you forget all your troubles after a long stressful day? This is that kind of book! I was completely enraptured by the story from the moment I began reading it.

Taylor and Mason were so much fun to read about. I couldn’t get enough of their flirty banter! Taylor is a strong, beautiful, self-made woman that demands respect. Mason is cocky, sexy, successful, and downright swoonworthy. He will, without a doubt, be a book boyfriend contender for many readers. Their crazy sexual chemistry makes for some deliciously hot scenes! Not only is their physical attraction strong, but so is their emotional connection. They are able to open up to each other in ways they haven’t been able to with anyone else. It’s always a plus for me when I can feel something deeper than just a physical connection between the characters.

I enjoyed every minute of this story! It was really easy to get into, incredibly well paced, and well written. I loved the author’s amazing writing style, and I will definitely be trying all of her books in the future. The only thing I felt like this was lacking was an epilogue. It certainly doesn’t leave you hanging, but I would have liked a tiny bit more than I got. Regardless, I would recommend this book to almost any fan of contemporary romance. Ex Games is passionate, steamy, humorous, and at times, emotional. If you were on the fence about reading this, I think you should hop off and give it a try!

3.25 ASSHOLE EX-STARS

ARC IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW

Before I begin my review I will simply state that this is not a book that I would have chosen for myself, as it is about a heroine that has had a physical relationship with two brothers. Also, the second chance at love story is really not my thing. That being said I DON'T REGRET READING IT.

The story start with the heroine Taylor finding an unexpected DEAR JANE/JOHN LETTER from her longtime fiancé. She is devastated as they have been in a relationship for 3 years. He explains nothing but simply states that he could not do it anymore and that's it! She is left with all the bills and all the debts from his betrayal.
WOW, WHAT A DICK!

description

The hero Mason, who is also her ex's brother, comes to see her and tell her that it's even worst than she thought!
TURNS OUT HE IS MARRYING HIS BROTHER'S B*TCHY EX!

And the hero has an idea to stop this from happening and give Taylor some closure by pretending to be together. Only problem is THEY HATE EACH OTHER!
YES, IT'S OLD I HATE YOU BUT LET'S SHOW OUR EX'S THAT WE HAVE MOVED ON BY BEING TOGETHER TROPE!

description

Sounds like it might work too, because of the history these two share. However, the hero is keeping secrets too! He knows more than he is saying and he also has one that would threaten the her very foundation!
One that would have her questioning everything!

If you want to know more you will have to READ THE BOOK!
Because I can't tell you.

Actually, I can but have said enough about the story line, I want to talk about the content.
I don't like the fact that the heroine Sleeps with both brothers, although it is NOT A MÉNAGE. The fact that Taylor does end up having a physical relationship with both of them, this does bother me. However, I am less bothered by it at the end when I realized that their whole relationship was built on ONE MAJOR LIE!
Their banter was fun and entertaining. They both were equally matched in wit and passion.
The chemistry between the two main characters is RED HOT.

description

I did enjoy parts of this book and it could have been a 4 star read but I was left without more closure for them.
I REALLY NEEDED A BETTER EPILOGUE HERE.
Especially with this story, given the volatile nature of their relationship, it was necessary for me!
Also, I did not like the singular POV. I would have liked to have the hero's thoughts as well.

In general, I enjoyed this book but I would not read it again and I would only recommend it as a second chance romance for those who enjoy these things.
Still not my favourite plot but it was an engaging story.

Safety: no cheating, some drama, no condoms at all and not even discussed which I found really weird...And one trigger which happened to the heroine in the past.

What do you do when your Fiancé ups and leaves only to end up engaged to his brother's ex-GF?

You pretend to hook up with the hotter, sexier brother, of course.

Let the fireworks begin.

Highly recommend!

“We face probably a hundred forks in the road over the course of our lives and I guarantee you no one has ever lived to make the right decision every time. You just have to trust that if you’re not in the right place right now, the steps you take from this point forward will get you there.”

Ex Games is a stand-alone contemporary romance with a twisted plot, colorful characters, witty dialogue, and plenty of red-hot steam!

“Mason.”
“God, I love how much irritation you fit into just the syllables of my name.”
Taylor Simms is suffering from a broken heart. After her fiancee has left her broken, alone, and drowning in debt, she is scrambling to mend her broken heart and get her life back in order. Just when it seems she might not be able to cure her financial woes, her ex fiancee's older brother makes her an offer she can't refuse. Aaron may have broken her heart, but big brother Mason has the power to put her back together again.

description
“I thought we were well past this game by now.”
“What game?” I blushed.
Mason Leo is an attractive, wealthy, unattainable God who wants for nothing. When his younger brother Aaron decides to marry his crazy ex, revenge seems to be the answer to saving his brother from making the worst mistake of his life. What is the best way to make Aaron jealous? Hook up with his sweet ex. When Mason convinces Taylor to come with him as his "girlfriend" to the wedding, the game begins. Taylor and Mason haven't always been the best of friends, and when they are thrown together attraction and friendship spark a flame that won't stop! As Mason and Taylor grow closer "pretending" to be into each other, the acting transforms into something real. When the rules of the game changes and the secrets are revealed, will Mason and Taylor find that even frenemies with a complicated past can find happiness together forever?

description
“When you like someone, you don’t want to see them hurt. Simple as that.”
Told in Taylor's POV, Ex Games offers an entertaining twist to the enemies to lovers trope. Although certain elements of the plot were somewhat predictable, each progression of the plot provides a refreshing twist and turn. The complexities of the emotional turmoil of each character is thoroughly developed and felt to the core with every turn of the page. The tempo of the writing matches the emotional climate of each scene by speeding up and slowing down through each and every moment. Mason is quite the charmer and his smoldering good looks and winning personality make him the perfect match for Taylor. Taylor has been through so much, and her transformation isn't easy but each moment is beautiful and the strength she gains from the journey is unforgettable. Ex Games is entertaining and fun and yet, full of complexities.

Overall, I highly recommend Ex Games for anyone who enjoys a sexy read full of witty banter, complex characters, and a complex plot! This was my first Stella Rhys read, and I can guarantee it will not be my last! I look forward to reading more from this author!

Review
This is my favorite Stella Rhys book so far! It was full of feels and Mason Leo has captured my heart with his possessive alpha ways.

Taylor Simms gets the shock of her life when her boyfriend of three years, Aaron Leo, up and leaves one morning without any warning. This is hard hitting for her because they were planning a wedding together and he has left her a financial and emotional mess to sort through in his wake. To make matters worse, he is planning to marry another girl just few weeks after walking out on Taylor. The cherry on top of this pile of BS is that the girl is Eva, Aaron’s brother’s ex.

“Don’t.”
He was already laughing. “What?”
“Crack all the predictable jokes. I know you’re dying to, but let me do it for you. Yes, I work as a Faddy’s girl. Yes, I’m wearing a padded bra under a child-sized Eagles jersey and yes, my pants are ridiculously tight.”
“No judgment here. My own are getting tighter as we speak.”

Mason Leo wasn’t passionately involved with Eva, but he was still angry when she decided to marry his brother, Aaron, after he walked out on Taylor. Though not on civil terms, Taylor agrees to Mason’s plan of fake dating to convince his brother to back out from the wedding. Taylor knows that she can’t get involved with anyone after the blunder of her relationship with Aaron, especially not the other Leo brother, and she figures this would be easy considering that Mason is a jerk playboy who doesn’t do commitments. But what fun would it be if their best plans didn’t fail?

Mason laughed. “I thought we were well past this game by now.”
“What game?” I blushed.
“The one where you act like I’m faking my physical attraction to you…

I loved Mason! He was sweet and thoughtful under his jerk playboy layer and I specially loved his possessive and dirty-talking alpha side too. Taylor and Mason together were full of combustible chemistry and you just can’t help but root for the moment when they overcome all their past and decide to act on their desires. Theirs was an amazing journey from low heat banter to stolen glances full of sexy chemistry to careful yet desperate touches to full blown passionate intimate scenes! Taylor was amazingly compatible with Mason because she was brave and wasn’t afraid to hold her own against Mason. I enjoyed the angst between them, but also appreciated how they decided to avoid OTT drama by being honest with each other about their feelings.

There was the breaking point.
My mouth fell open as I watched him come, his patience visibly fading with every step he took toward me. I scrambled to my knees on the couch, every inch of my body lit on fire as I anticipated him – his touch, his skin, all that pent up lust and fury he’d been saving for up for me.

Overall, an amazing romance from the queen of light and swoony romances, Stella Rhys! The banter was great, the chemistry was palpable, and the romance was swoony. I would highly recommend her books to anyone who enjoys a swoony romance with realistic characters, medium to low angst, and no OTT drama!

I hadn’t been certain of anything in a long time, but securely wrapped in Mason’s arms, the air dancing with all the words we didn’t have to say, I was certain. I had lost control and fallen hard, but it didn’t matter.
Because he had done just the same.

Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Female

Taylor Simms' life was going down the drain. After being dumped by her fiance Aaron, she was left with a mountain of debts and the news of his impending nuptial to someone else. Struggling to make ends meet, she was presented with a solution that's not exactly ideal, but the best she could get for her situation.

Mason Leo was the deliciously infuriating brother of her ex. With their exes set to marry each other, he devised a revenge plot by having them faking a relationship. But their hatred to each other while masking their hidden attractions might end up derailing the original plan.

I started this book thinking it's an easy breezy light read. It is that, but also with something extra to help it up a notch.

I wanted to be the person to save you whenever you needed. I wanted to be the man who took care of you and held you at night.

Mason was very sexy. He was gorgeous and rich. What's not to like? Oh also somewhat an asshole - which made him even sexier :p

I like seeing Taylor's vulnerabilities and how she coped with the things thrown at her. I also love her relationship with her BFF.

If I could transport myself back in the past and tell myself that one day, I’d be thinking all day about Mason Leo, missing him and aching for the comfort it felt like only he could provide, I’d tape my own mouth shut and call myself a filthy liar.

Mason and Taylor had a good chemistry. I love their banters and I appreciate that it stayed intact even as their relationship evolved. The story had a good amount of ups and downs to keep it interesting.

Ex Games is a story of a couple out for a revenge and closure. This sexy story has some light funny moments and some emotional bits in between, would appeal to readers who are looking for a enemies to lovers book.

Gotta say, I loved this book. I loved the concept, the characters, the writing, the development, etc. Stella Rhys has found a new fan in me!

Taylor was dumped by her fiance. He left her for his brother's ex-girlfriend. What were these jilted lovers to do? Why not fake a relationship in the hopes of breaking up the new "happy" couple. Too bad no one factored in actual feelings into the plan.

Taylor was a likable character, albeit a tad bit annoying at times. However, Mason was the true star of this story. I loved him. I loved how he debunked all of Taylor's misconceptions regarding his character (although a lot of what she believed was based on his jealous brother's fabrications). I loved how he made sure that Taylor felt special, cared for and needed. He was awesome!

So why not 5 stars? I needed Mason's POV. Taylor wasn't a strong enough voice on her own. I was also a little dissatisfied with the ending. It didn't have to have an epilogue but everything wrapped up too quickly. The underlying premise of the story is that Aaron (the ex-fiance) was set to marry Mason's ex. However, besides one sentence regarding that situation's outcome, that was it. Besides all of that, I think I needed more time with Mason and Taylor as a couple in love to be completely sold.

I somehow forgot to add this book to my read shelf and review it. So I'll be keeping this short since my memory is really sucky when it comes to specific reasons I liked a book.

I do know, though, that I had a really fun experience reading about these characters. Mason and Taylor had a love-hate thing going on that had sparks flying off the pages. I loved that we got to see them getting to know more about one another and discovering that they're actually pretty good as a couple. The story was very well written and the flow of it made it an easy read to get sucked into.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about the whole ex thing, but I was pleasantly surprised to get really into that part of the plot. I think that added the extra sexual tension between Mason and Taylor and had them steaming up my Kindle. The bottom line is this author has a new fangirl in her corner and I will be reading anything she writes.

Well, it was just pathetic…
It’s a pity because the writing was not bad.
The heroine has almost succeeded to lead my list of the most pathetic female characters of the year.

She was all talk but no action. She was weak as she came with her ex together, she was feeble as she took him back after their “break-up”, she was pitiful as she stayed with him for years and and and… She was even more pathetic as she agreed to the “arrangement” with the H/her ex’s brother. I even couldn’t be really angry with mean side characters who harassed her, because their assumption/insults/etc were not 100% untrue… It may sound cruel, but it’s how I saw it.

I didn’t get the point why the H chased her. He had apparently no problem to sleep with countless OWs over the years while having feelings for her. So why bother now?!
Sad story…

Best to Judge a person by what YOU know, not by others opinions.

***3.5 stars***

Hmmm…I’m trying to write this review but I seem to be having a wee bit of difficulty. I liked it but it drove me bonkers too.

We’re back to the reasons why I struggle with New Adult Romance. This chick is 26 years old and I wanted to slap her and tell her to grow the heck up. Now, him, I liked him but again I wanted to tell him to start acting his age and not his shoe size. See, old age has ruined me for drunken shenanigans. Jumping into a pool fully clothed makes me think of the ruined clothes instead of reckless fun. My prehistoric years has lessened my tolerance for nasty witches who take pleasure in other people's misery. New Adult books make me feel old and crotchety.

If you can forget all that, Ex Games was interesting, sexy and ended with a sweet gesture that put a HUGE smile on my face.

Taylor's had to deal with one too many douchewaffles in her life. The biggest one of all is her ex-fiance Aaron who by the end I absolutely loathed. Taylor has been left with heartbreak and debt when he leaves her a note saying he’s out. Not seeing the break up coming, Taylor is completely devastated. With her debts rising she’s forced to take a second job…but even that’s not helping. Then one day there’s a knock at the door. If she accepts the offer, all her problems will disappear. It’s a shame that the payment involves her acting like she loves the person she hates…Aaron’s brother Mason.

Mason is successful.

Well, Mason is a little more than just successful, but to be honest, I’m not certain why. We are told he works long hours, has plenty of money and women beg, borrow and steal to have him. I really liked Mason by the end of Ex Games. He has lived his life making himself happy. He loves his brother but he hated seeing what Aaron had done because of his extreme jealousy. Aaron will do ANYTHING to one-up Mason…even marry his ex.

I liked Ex Games. I think New Adult readers who like a wee bit of angst in their reads will love it. This old biddy (ME) found the antics of the characters annoying at times. There was a situation that Taylor faced a few years previously that was heartbreaking. Towards the end of the story, some truths came to light. It’s up to Taylor to forgive and try and move on but I'm not sure she made the right choice.

Lovers of angst, naughty boys, glam and glitz will love Ex Games and while it’s not my favourite genre, it still managed to keep my attention from beginning to end.

Well color me surprised!

When I first started Ex Games I thought I knew what I was getting into. I expected Taylor to follow the typical scorned woman out for revenge route and for Mason to fall into the manho douchecanoe category for most of the book.

What I actually encountered was a whole different type of story. Both Mason and Taylor were given depth I wasn't expecting and the sweetness between the two threw me for a loop in the best possible way.

And the sexual tension?

Holy hottness! Taylor and Mason are absolutely scorching and I love that there are underlying feelings that fuel the hot stuff, not just attraction. If you're worried about the ickiness of Taylor moving on from one brother to another brother, it wasn't an issue for me. And I never felt like either character ended up playing second choice.

I'm so glad I gave this one a chance. It's my first Stella Rhys book but it definitely won't be my last.

This is a sweet love story, recommended for a nice past time.

***Danger/Caution!
The hero of this book, Mason, is dangerously swoon-worthy, causing resentment to the heroine for having him!

The plot:
Taylor is left by her fiancé shortly before their wedding and after a few months, she gets the most shocking news about him from his brother, whom she always hated.

His brother Mason comes to tell her the news and he makes her an offer.

The news is that his ex and her ex are getting married and Mason offers to be a team to prevent this marriage.

“I don’t understand. What is this?”
“It’s a fucking golf catalogue. What does it look like?”
“For God’s sake, just tell me in words , Mason. I’m sure you can guess that my mind can’t exactly wrap around this concept right now!”
“I can talk to you when you stop crying.”
“Don’t. Don’t act like I’m being crazy or too emotional when you just handed me an invitation to a wedding between my fiancé and a woman who is not me, ” I seethed, turning away from him as the tears finally spilled.

When finally Taylor accepts Mason's offer despite her dislike for him, she slowly starts to see that nothing she assumed about her fiancé or his brother was exactly true. This deal with Mason makes her realize that the man who she believed that she loved was the biggest as*hole and his brother, Mason, who she disliked for all the wrong reasons, was in fact the best boyfriend material!

The banter between Taylor and Mason was fun, their chemistry was sizzling hot and I really enjoyed their story.

“Angry sex is generally good sex, so for that reason, I might get turned on by an incredibly attractive woman who’s pissed off at me. Call it a Pavlovian response.”

“How much longer can you wait?” I asked, my heart pounding.
“I’ve been at my limit for a long fucking time.” His hard voice made me chew my lip.
“No,” I shook my head. “You haven’t reached your breaking point if you’re still standing here and I still have my clothes on.”

“I thought I knew what it was like to be happy to see you,” he murmured, his breath coating my lips. “But I don’t think I really knew till now.”

Why 4 stars but not 5?

The good and the bad:

This book made me happy and I loved the romance part of it. However, the revenge plan was also very promising and it started so good at the beginning but later, it failed to satisfy me. I would have liked to see Aaron and Eva suffer more because of their wickedness instead of them being able to still hurt Taylor and cause harm to Mason and Taylor’s relationship.

The most important reason I cannot give it 5 stars is that there were a few parts that were rushed and not so clear. I think the writer couldn’t wrap that part up nicely enough.

Another thing that I didn’t like was Taylor’s reaction to Mason about a fact that was revealed in Aaron’s text messages. It was a bit on the extreme side. Later, when a stranger told her some words of wisdom, she was able to understand Mason’s real motive. I was pissed at her at that point.

All in all, the book is worth reading if you need a hot and fun romance. But the blurb makes you thirsty for a juicy revenge game and it fails to fulfill that promise. Still, getting to know Mason is a good enough reason to read this book! And the book will sure put a big smile on your face most of the time. Reading it is like a chocolate cookie treat to yourself, which you can enjoy after a solemn and dark book :)

I was intrigued on how an author could write about rebounding with your ex’s brother and SO SOON. The h felt guilt for about 0,5 secs and I guess that was it 🤣

T
his book keep me guessing.. The twists & turns keep you on your toes all the way to the end
I would not have chosen this type of book just by its blur. . I'm honestly glad that I look past that & read the book anyway.

Once the character's stories started to unfold I really really enjoyed this book & I understood so much about each & every character. Well maybe not one but you'll figure out which one when you read this book. This book had touch of everything in it…

Highly recommended THIS BOOK & Author

It was a decent book. It reminds me of popcorn. It's enjoyable but not very filling. It's a good fluff book - you know, a book to read in between really good books.

Overall Opinion: I liked this more than I thought I would tbh. It wasn't anything super deep and meaningful, but I didn't necessarily expect it to be. It was hot! It was pretty low angst (though the h ticked me off at the end), so it would be a good book for after a dark or intense read. I didn't love it, and I didn't hate it -- it was ok.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Taylor and Mason's story. Taylor was just left by her fiancé without a reason why when his brother, Mason, shows up unexpectedly and shows her a wedding invitation for her ex and his ex girlfriend. Mason is convinced that the ex girlfriend is doing it to get back at him, and he asks Taylor to help him out in stopping the wedding by pretending to be a new couple. The more they spend time together, the more real feelings start to develop and they fall in love. There is some ex drama, some sexy times...and they do get a HFN ending.

POV: This was told in Taylor's POV. I agree with a GR friend in that having Mason's POV could've contributed a lot to the depth of the story.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 4 stars. Mason. I liked him. He was hot, alpha, sweet, and all about the h!

h rating: 3 stars. Taylor. I liked her until the conflict at the end. I felt like she overreacted, and I was frankly confused by her behavior.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Moderate. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it took away from the storyline.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a cute jump ahead epilogue, but (surprise, surprise) I wanted more! I would call it a HFN ending, but others might consider it a HEA.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: I'd say this one should be Safe for most readers.

5 Panty melting ex-games stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Mason Leo strolled right into my home, wearing a damp white T-shirt and dark grey sweats. Holy shit. I froze, a knot jumping into my throat because one, I’d never seen Mason in anything but an expensive suit and two, I’d never seen this much of him before. The cotton of his shirt was saturated in sweat and it clung to his every muscle. He’d been on a morning run and I could very much see that – as well as some rather clear outlines of six-pack.
And cock.
Wow.

My God...I am in love with this author and the delicious way she writes a romance. The way she creates a world, builds the characters but most importantly the romance, there’s no other choice but to fall in love. She can write any trope and make it drool worthy. It has this forbidden vibe, the connection, the sexual tension, sexy dirty talking heroes, it simply pulls you in. Her books feel genuine and has a lot of depth. I have been her fan since the first book I have read by her. If you follow my reviews, you’ll know my favourite is her irresistible series. My only complaint is that she doesn’t write more often cause I am running out of her books and that’s just not helping my addiction.

Now after learning all about my obsession with the author....let’s talk about the story.

Taylor has been recently dumped by her fiancé out of the blue who not only did that but also left her with all the unpaid bills. Another blow comes when she finds out he’s getting married to his elder brother Mason’s ex and also the said brother is himself delivering the news. She’s always hated from the first time they met and hence she doesn’t want him to see her break down.

I honestly loved Taylor and all her sweetness. she hasn’t had an easy life and only with her determination and strength she has reached to where she is today. Once you learn the pain she has gone through, you’ll only love her more and want to protect. So when mason offers her to help him stop the wedding and in exchange he’ll clear her debt, she agrees after giving it a thought. I fully supported her decision.

”Look at me, Taylor.” I obliged his command, feeling the sudden lock of two magnets when our eyes met. “Tell me how good my cock makes you feel.”
I shook my head as I moaned, barely able to get any words out. “Can’t…”
“You will. Tell me. Tell me how wet your pussy is for me, Taylor.”
I tangled my fingers in his hair, drunk off the sound of his ramming into me. “You can hear it,” I whispered.
“Mmm, I can and it’s like music to my fucking ears,” Mason rumbled against my lips as he crushed his kiss over my mouth.

Mason was just dreamy. His dominant, mischievous and intense energy made me swoon throughout the book. He was a walking talking sex god. The way he teased Taylor, made her laugh, took care of her, made him a perfect boyfriend. Especially when he made her birthday wish come true. If a guy ever did that for me, I will never let him go.

”I thought I knew what it was like to be happy to see you,” he murmured, his breath coating my lips. “But I don’t think I really knew till now.” He opened his eyes to drink me in, pulling away but holding me tight, like I might somehow escape his arms again. But he seemed reassured by the needy curl of my fingertips against his chest. I wanted to hold onto him too. I hardly ever wanted to let go.

Their chemistry was instant. Once they opened up to each other, sharing their deepest darkest secrets, it showed their connection was strong and were made for each other. Taylor’s love for him was far stronger and pure than what she had with his brother( who I just hated throughout the book, wanting to punch him so many times). When more truths came to the surface, it only solidified the fact they belonged together.

I worked for this prize. I climbed a hundred mountains and fell ninety-nine times. It was rough but now that I was here with a man I loved with every ounce of me, I had a new mantra.
No regrets.
Not even one.

This book was full of heat, laughter, fun games and really emotional too. I didn’t want it to end. The drama was just the right amount. It felt real. All am gonna say is YOU. NEED. THIS. AUTHOR. IN. YOUR. LIFE.

Can’t recommend it enough. ♥️♥️

I really enjoyed this one! It wasn't a super-memorable, mind-blowing read, but it was a sweet, cute, and easy read. This book reminded me of a much tamer cross between Black Swan Affair and The Hating Game. It had the obvious ex-drama like BSA (except the OM isn't as present), but there was the "hating" element that made for some great banter like THG. It was also pretty easy to pinpoint what worked for me and what didn't. The romance between Mason and Taylor was awesome; I loved watching them fall in love. Even from the beginning, I knew he had feelings for her.
"I can clearly hear you watching The Real Housewives of Your Shitty Taste in TV."
It was such a simple observation at only 3% in, but it really spoke to how well Mason knew Taylor. And he didn't stop there, Mason kept me swooning throughout the whole novel.
"Hey, none of that. I earned that smile, so let me see it."
"It starts to become an addiction and all you can think about anymore is when you’ll see her next. All the things you want to find out about her – what she looks like happy or sad, how she laughs when she’s nervous. What sounds she'll make when you touch her a certain way."
"I’ll take you anywhere, Taylor. I’ll take you to fucking Disneyland if you want. I’ll hate every second of it but if that’s where you want to be, I'll go there with you."
"I’m going to give you everything you ever wanted, Taylor. And all the things you didn’t know you wanted."
"I love you... I have loved you... I can't stop, Taylor. Even when I tried, I couldn't. I can't control it with you."
description

There were plenty of sexy and funny moments, too. And as far as their relationship went, I had very few complaints. But I didn't really enjoy anything related to the outside drama. Most of it seemed over-exaggerated or unnecessary, and the secondary characters were kind of two-dimensional. It didn't ruin the story for me, though, I just kind of shrugged it off and kept going until I got more of Mason and Taylor :)

*One thing I did notice was that there were a few spelling errors and missing commas. It wasn't a huge problem, but enough that I did notice (especially the comma thing which drives me nuts lol).

**The grovel was tiny and not really worth the title because he didn't do anything wrong IMO, but I LOVED how he apologized. I thought it was very sweet <3 <3

What a fun surprise!! Ex Games was a sassy, angsty, witty standalone romance!! It is a twisty enemies to lovers story. I found the whole story entertaining and fun.

Taylor has been dumped by Aaron, her fiancé, and is now marrying his brother's ex girlfriend. In order to get back at both of them, Taylor and Mason (her fiancé' brother) are going to attend the wedding as a "pretend" couple. Their escapades of attempting to pretend becomes complicated. Mason is handsome and a ladies man and gets under Taylor's skin like no other. They may kill each other before they can "pretend" but their feelings about each other unwind with humor and sass. There are also secondary characters that add extra fun to this enemies to lovers story.

I found the banter between Taylor and Mason to be spot on. There is an underlying current that is somewhat predictable but I didn't find that it took away from the story. There is also no cheating in this story. While some may have qualms about the men being brothers, it is in no way at the same time. I never once felt uneasy and to me the story felt very real.

The story was sexy, sweet and sentimental. I loved that it was a standalone and I loved the epilogue!! It is a romantic, feel good read that will leave you with a smile.

Taylor’s fiancé recently broke up with her and she can’t understand why. Not much later, Mason tells Taylor that her ex is getting married with his ex. She can’t believe what she’s hearing. Mason is her ex’s big brother and he wants to stop that marriage. He hopes Taylor wants to help, but she doesn’t want to see either of them at the moment. She eventually agrees with Mason. Mason and Taylor have a fake relationship to make her ex jealous. Mason and Taylor grow closer each time they are together and the fake relationship becomes a real one.

I’m happy a friend recommended me this author, because even though I already owned this ebook, I probably still wouldn’t have picked it up without this recommendation. This book won’t be my last read by the author. I loved Ex Games! There were many funny moments, beautiful moments or romantic moments. The last two chapters and epilogue were so beautiful and perfect. It was an amazing enemies to lovers story. Taylor hates Mason and that feeling doesn’t change quickly. Mason doesn’t hate like Taylor thinks he does.

I really liked Taylor. She’s feisty, hardworking, strong and kind. She didn’t have an easy childhood, but she’s a fighter. She has achieved a lot in her life. I was so happy that Taylor has an awesome friend where she can always count on. Taylor is hurt and a little lost at the beginning, but she works hard and gets better.

I adored Mason and he’s my favorite character of the book. He’s rich, powerful, smart, hardworking, a little arrogant and a little cold. He also has a soft side that Taylor gets to see. Mason is different with her and his life will change a little. He likes to spoil her and he’s possessive over her. I loved Mason and Taylor together.

With chemistry galore in the middle of a enemies to lovers story, this super cute story hit the spot!

Imagine you've been with the same guy for years..your engaged.. you even live together.... then one morning you wake up and he's gone. No explanation...... just a short note saying mostly bye, forgive me, its over. That's it.. completely out of the blue!!

Yep.. Taylor was a mess after Aaron left her with an apartment she couldn't afford on her own and an engagement ring no longer on her finger. Anger, frustration.. sadness, confusion.. all piling up on her. Then one day her EX-fiance's brother Mason shows up. The man she loathes and certainty doesn't want to see.. but he's bringing information that's going to freak her out even more. Her ex is marrying his brother's EX.

But Aaron thinks that his ex is marrying his brother just to get back at him.. a competition of sorts you could say.. as Aaron always felt like Mason was better than him and was always looking for the opportunity to "one-up" him. Not caring if he left a devastated Taylor in his wake... So Mason has a plan. A plan to stop the wedding from happening and ruining their family and get Taylor out of her financial mess that Aaron left her in at the same time. Seems like the perfect plan.. Taylor will get closure and out of debt while Mason will save his brother from making a huge mistake. It seems simple... until the feelings between Mason and Taylor complicate things.....

Wow!!! The chemistry between these two was scorching!!! But surprisingly, this story was also sweet. I loved watching them fall for each other and almost every page turned left a smile on my face. Add in just the right amount of angst and this book was a page turner.

Definitly looking forward to reading more from Ms. Rhys !!

I am usually not a fan of the trope where they start off with one sibling but end up with another. But I gave this a chance since she had already broken up with Aaron. And I am really glad I did that!

I loved the story, it was well paced and the characters were amazing. I want a Mason Leo for me please and Taylor was a great character too. She was tough, smart and really had more courage in her pinky finger than the idiot ex of hers. I liked Mason more than his brother since the 2nd chapter and trust me, I was right in doing so. He may have been a manwhore (a little cliche perhaps?) but he was so protective and caring, both towards Taylor and his mother.

I should probably state that I love banter - I live for it and Mason and Taylor had it down as if it were a sport they had to win. I couldn't stop smiling and never for a second felt bored which has been happening with me a lot these days.

This book wasn't emotional per say but it had its moments. I am just glad I got to read something this good because I haven't been enthused about a book in a pretty long time and this one came really close to that :D

This was a good read, although the book finishes at around 65% with a peek into another book by the author.

Told from the heroine's POV, the blurb says it all; heroine gets dumped and hooks up with ex-fiancee's brother as part of a plan which you will read about. Throughout the 'plan', Mason and Taylor have the best relationship and realise they have to give themselves a chance as a couple.

I enjoyed the banter and sex scenes were sizzling hot! Overall, both the hero and heroine were awesome with no unwanted drama. They spoke their minds and were very frank with each other. i loved the way the heroine 'fought' back against all her haters; i always appreciate a heroine who has balls. Although there were LOTS of grammatical errors, i gave this book a chance because i enjoyed this witty, smart couple and felt this author had serious talent with writing.

I definitely recommend this book, if you're willing to overlook the 'forbidden' plot and grammatical errors.

This book was cute. Yes, cute. Strange really, considering the fact that Taylor makes a deal with her ex's brother Mason to be a pretend couple at the ex's wedding to Mason's ex. Yes, the ex's are getting married to each other. A big clusterfuck. Like, how can that be cute? To answer your question: Mason and Taylor together = CUTE! I fucking love Mason. He's amazing, hot, sexy, charming, perfect, funny... I can go on and on. Taylor was cute, I liked her, though I didn't love her. But Mason made up for that ;)

I'm upping my review to 5 Stars because I've been in a book slump and cocky, sexy, snarky Mason just ripped me right the fuck up out of it!!

Someone liked this review and I didn't remember the book by it's name so I clicked on my review. I was intrigued because my review said how much I liked it but I couldn't remember the book at all. So I reread it and man it was still SOOOO good. I had to create a new category for Hs like Mason. Favorite Hs of All Time.

Cocky snark from a sex God who's really genuine and warm is my kryptonite.

Original Review:

Okay so this book should come with a warning. Do not read when you are PMSing and emotional lol. Let's just say it added an extra twist in my guts from all the slow burn tortured angst.

Stomach Ache GIFs | Tenor

Poor Taylor. Talk about a first shitty 27 years of your life. God, this poor girl was in a constant fight and struggle up the mountain just to keep getting knocked back down. Bless her heart, she deserved Mason and his massive love wand. I glad she finally made it to the top and got her HEA.

I'm so glad, sexy as hell, six pack abs, gazillionaire Mason knew a good thing when he saw it, knew what he wanted and didn't back down until he got it. His slow seduction and helping Taylor see her true worth was swoon worthy, not to mention his filthy mouth and dirty talk (I kept having random hot flashes reading this, I'm starting to see a correlation lol).

I usually don't read contemporary because I'm too emotional to read so much angst, but I really enjoyed this one and I'm glad I gave it a shot.
