A single mother working in a thrift store. A gentle giant farmer who can’t find jeans that fit. When opposites attract, they find themselves making alterations in more ways than one in this smoking-hot short story by #1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey.
Evie Crowe is starting over in a strange town with her newborn, and men are the furthest thing from her mind. If only the quiet, hulking farmer, Luke Ward, would stop coming into the thrift shop and piquing her reluctant interest. Evie wants to stay single all the way—she can’t trust anything more than friends-with-holiday-benefits. But Luke is in it for the long haul. He’s fixed on making this a Christmas Evie will remember forever. If she gives him a chance.
Tessa Bailey’s Merry Ever After is part of Under the Mistletoe, a stirring collection of December romances that thrill and tingle all the way. They can be read or listened to in one swoony sitting.
New York Times Bestselling author Tessa Bailey can solve all problems except for her own, so she focuses those efforts on stubborn, fictional blue collar men and loyal, lovable heroines. She lives on Long Island avoiding the sun and social interactions, then wonders why no one has called. Dubbed the “Michelangelo of dirty talk,” by Entertainment Weekly, Tessa writes with spice, spirit, swoon and a guaranteed happily ever after. Catch her on TikTok at @authortessabailey or check out tessabailey.com for a complete list of books.
And then Tessa goes and spoils it all by saying something stupid like:
• "I tell him he's daddy and my pussy needs his come."
• "what's this little dress called" "Get the straps down and show me them tits" (its so bad it hurts)
• "Why was I so turned on watching him eat his fourth grilled cheese?" (This isn't acomaf 🙏🏻)
• " 'How hard are you going to make me pump.'
Hard as you want. Wreck me forever. Daddy." (Pls stop 👹)
• "They don't make jeans that fit me and they don't make women that fit me" ( 😟)
• "I've never had pants that fit me." (Bitch bffr 😭)
•"Can he see me clenching through this denim. Good gravy, am I attracted to him" (ok Geraldine and second interaction btw)
• "And the fact that she already has a man should make me ashamed that I fucked my fist to the thoughts of her bent over. Yet in my fantasies, I've had her all over town since the first time I saw her." ____ Tessa bailey will hate to see me coming with that review 👹 (prepare to be traumatized) ___ The last two Christmas novellas I read by Tessa bailey were flops 😭 so I hope this one hits 🙏🏻
I wish I could erase this garbage from my memory. How many times was she going to mention how huge this man was??? 50% of the story was about him trying to find a pair of jeans that fit. Tessa was literally describing this man like an ogre. “They don’t make jeans that fit me, and they don’t make many women that fit me, either.” HUH?? This did not bring me holiday joy. It gave me the ick.
Audio ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher —Brilliance Publishing—big thanks!
”They don’t make jeans that fit me, and they don’t make woman that fit me either”
Even venom’s dick ain’t that huge bro calm your ass down.
This was the first thing I read by Tessa and it was…outstanding in a bad way, Also- I’ll drink acid with a smile on my face before calling a man “daddy” I LOATH IT!
Putting this in a Christmas novella book is like calling die hard a Christmas movie I think she mentioned Christmas a total of two times this whole novella
"his testicles smacking loudly off my backside." OFF OFF OFF TURN IT OFF. I CAN'T STOP CACKLING. TURN. IT. OFF. who allowed miss tessa to write this. this was an ACTUAL nightmare i felt like it was never going to end. like i was never going to wake up
the amount of times the mmc mentioned that he’s bigger than everyone else is the one of the few things i picked up from this book. this book was a let down because i read this for the “merry” vibes that it could give but it just did not deliver. if this were a different story with more details, it probably would’ve been a lot better
this is the book for you if you want really something quick where the mmc is down bad for the fmc!

pre-read:
tessa bailey’s books are either just hit or miss and all i’ve read about this book are bad reviews, and it scares me to read this one lmao
Merry Ever After could easily be categorized as a smutty holiday novella. I honestly liked the overall plotline, but I definitely would have loved it if some of the really cringy dialogue had been subtracted.
many thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The spicy scenes have been super cringe BUT, for example, the scene where he gives her the bike has seemed super sweet to me. It has been one of the weirdest readings I've had this year without a doubt.
I will still continue reading books by the author, although I've heard that she is a hit or miss, so we'll see.

•Dual POV •Small town •Sexy farmer/single mom •Friends with benefits/insta love
New girl in town, Evie, meets the introverted local farmer, Luke, & sparks fly. Merry Ever After is set in a cozy Texas town just before Christmas and kicks off with a fun meet cute. Evie & Luke both show their interest with kind gestures and witty banter. But, as with most Tessa Bailey books I've read, it goes from cutesy to over the top raunchy fast. Loved the story, cringed at (most of) the spicy scenes.
2 stars i wasnt gonna write a review since this was a quick read but i can say i didn't enjoved this one briefly. i love the writer's other works but the smut was unnecessary( as a person who likes reading smut), didn't felt christmasy and the storyline was rushed up.i would have give this one much less if it didn't came from Tessa Bailey.
Merry Ever After is a cute and smutty Christmas novella about a single mom and a 6'6" farmer. He’s so big that they don’t make jeans or women his size. The smut is cringe, and this was my first adventure with Tessa Bailey’s writing. I don’t know what to say if all her books are like this. The dirty talk gave me secondhand embarrassment, but I’m being generous with my rating here because I kind of liked the small, cutesy, and wholesome moments they had together as a cute little family and how sweet Luke was toward Evie’s son. It was adorable.
