This was an awesome anthology of short stories and poems by a talented group of women who know what horror is all about.

A drug addict gets clean but with horrifying results, an Indian goddess of misfortune teaches a racist jerk the error of his ways, a young girl meets her secret crush in the woods but danger lurks, a babysitter has ulterior motives, an artist puts herself into her work...

There are just so many great stories in here.

Tales of werewolves, witches, unearthly beings, and a version of Snow White that the Brothers Grimm would never have dared to tell were among my many favorites.

I loved the suspense and psychological twists. There is even a sentient elevator that is displeased when the elderly elevator operator is fired.

I laughed, I cheered, and I sometimes cringed. These ladies are not afraid to spill their guts or yours to have a good time.

My thanks to Crystal Lake Publishing.

Wow! This is a must read anthology of horror stories written by women who know the genre.

The variety of subject matter is astounding. You have historical horror fiction, weird fiction, bloody and gruesome to slow burning and creepy. No horror stone is left unturned.

A killer elevator, a trip to the Elysian Fields with several goddesses of myth, a final girl who channels the lessons her kidnapper imparted, Snow White on trial for murder, and a modern day witch raising the dead, and even bigfoot and a farmers wife. That's just the tip of the fantastic and varied stories and poems in here.

This is truly an anthology which dispells the notion that "women can't write horror." Pffffft.....

Your head will spin in delight as you're reading because each entry is a pleasant surprise. It's great and I highly recommend it!

These delightful delicious devious and deadly dastardly damsels are just what is needed as a change of pace from the usual ragtag refuse of rogues and rapscallions I usually find on the bookshelves. Suzie Lockhart has gathered together a trove of terrific tales and poems from professionals and first-time writers. Time steals while reading about the escapades of theses ladies.

An excellent collection of stories by some of the best female writers of horror fiction. There is a wide variety of styles so there is something for everyone. The final story by the late Rachel Caine is so good that I was left wanting an entire series of novels set in that universe. This anthology has given me a lot of new names to seek out further works by.

Dastardly Damsels takes classic tropes and rewrites them; giving you new stories and new endings, a lot of which I never saw coming. There were a good few that I highly enjoyed and rolled around in my mind a little bit. There's something for everyone here. Definitely recommend for anyone on the fence about this! I loved reading this one.

I'm not usually a fan of short stories, it always feels like eating half a biscuit to me but when I saw the authors that were involved in this anthology, I couldn't resist. And I'm pleased I did.

There are some really fun, scary and powerful women in these stories and there's even some poetry.

Absolutely loved it and recommend it to any fan of horror and women taking control.

Hey there book lovers! It is your old pal, Ninetoes, coming to you from Ninetoes Loves Books Headquarters. Today, I have for you a review of Suzie Lockhart’s Dastardly Damsels I have coffee in my system, and my thinking cap on, so let’s get to it!

I grew up in a household of women. Mom and Dad divorced, and I moved down south with Mom and her friend and my sister to be closer to my grandparents. Within a year of that move, my grandfather died, making me the only male in the house. I say this because growing up the way I did gave me a greater appreciation for what it means to be a man and more importantly a gentleman. The men in this anthology could have used some of my lessons growing up.

Dastardly Damsels is an anthology where the males are reprehensible. Seriously, if I had witnessed any of their shenanigans, I would have stepped in. The women in this book would not have needed me to do so. Oh, these women are far more capable of taking care of business, and they do.

Each story in this book is as different as its author. The genres vary from psychological suspense to steampunk to outright horror. As different as they are, they all have the same thing going for them: The damsels in each story come out on top, and the men get what’s coming to them, sometimes in spectacular fashion.

The best compliment I can give this one is my mother-in-law would have loved it! This anthology is perfect for fans of Fern Michael’s Sisterhood series, of which my mother-in-law was a huge fan, and I bought her every book!

I give this book 4.5 bookmarks out of 5!
