One Wealthy Wedding

Rate this book
Theo Archer is New York’s most notorious billionaire. He might hate me…but he’s still the man I have to marry.

I was once a pampered heiress, and Theo Archer was my housekeeper’s handsome son. But now? The boy who stomped on my heart at nineteen is a wicked billionaire... and I'm about to be disinherited.

Until Theo presents a simple solution—marry him, be the loving wife his reputation desperately needs, and claim my inheritance.

Now I’m living with the silver-tongued playboy I refuse to desire. In private, we clash. In public, he’s the perfect husband. He defends me to my father, dances with me at midnight, and makes me forget about my problems.

It’s all part of proving to the world that our marriage is real.

But when Theo discovers I have a bucket list, he demands that we complete every sinful thing on it. As he uncovers my secrets, our fighting shifts into something far more addictive…and I catch glimpses of the Theo I fell in love with years before.

This marriage has an expiration date. But Theo has no intention of letting me go.

After years apart, they find each other again - she's working in a bar and he has a reputation as a notorious playboy. She needs to be married for a year to claim her inheritance, so he decides to help her improve his reputation.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Theo and Cat because of the lovely chemistry between them, but the plot itself really captured my attention and I ended up loving it more than I ever expected. It took me by surprise because I thought it would be just another typical read, and it may be for some people, but I absolutely adored it despite the fact that I normally can't stand playboys. The author manages to put a fresh spin on it and make the storytelling completely addictive.

I'd say this book is all about second chances, and the chemistry between the two leads was just lovely. But I also want to highlight the way the author was able to explore their individual personal struggles and successfully redeem the male protagonist.

This book has everything needed to make for a thoroughly enjoyable read. If you're in the mood for a marriage of convenience story, this one is sure to delight.

Self note:

- Childhood friends to enemies to lovers
- Second chance romance
- Marriage of convenience
- He needs to fix his image, because of course, he's a playboy. 🙄
- She needs to access her inheritance
- She has a bucket list (with sinful things), and I'm going to assume that since he's a hoe he's gonna help her with all of that. 🥴

Just thinking about the micro tropes is making me irked already. So yeah, it's definitely a big no for me.

❝ I'll meet you halfway. ❞

The marriage of convenience One Wealthy Wedding by Sophia Travers centers on the relationship between notorious playboy Theo Anders and a used to be pampered heiress, Catherine Peterson.

I love a good marriage of convenience, with childhood friends included, and this book was just that. I will say that there were a lot of flaws in the storyline, and I believe there could've been more to her father's storyline or more scenes with him in general to really outline how bad things were.

I personally couldn't connect with the characters at all; there was depth to each character on their own, but they sometimes felt bland to me. I wish we had more scenes from the past; it would've given them more complexity. There was the perfect amount of banter and tension in each scene that showcased their relationship

Something that bothered me was how Theo just assumed things about Cat. I mean yes, he has the right to form his own opinions after everything that happened in his childhood, but being an adult means you should take the time to listen to others' perspectives and how everything went down on their end instead of assuming and having this negative image of someone you've known for a long time.

ⓘ Thank you to the author Sophia Travers for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

“𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒍𝒚, 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒆. 𝑰𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒕.”

This book was so much fun! I devoured it! It was a perfect example of enemies to lovers!! The sarcastic banter between these two was so good, I just knew the spice was going to get so spicy when they finally let their walls down. And it was explosive. I loved watching these two relearn things about each other while secretly pinning for each other. It only added to the angst! And there was SO MUCH ANGST! 👏👏

“𝑳𝒖𝒄𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏?”
𝑯𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒔. “𝑰’𝒅 𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒍, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒕.”

They had so many people betting against them, but the more people pushed them apart the stronger they grew together.

“𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒕, 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔. 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖.”

This was my first Sohpia Travers book. And man does she know how to write a slow burn! I can't wait to go back and read some of the other books about the side characters in this book!

“𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒃𝒂𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒎𝒆, 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒆, 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒔.”

Plot 3 Spice 2.5 FMC 3.75 MMC 3.75

Contemporary Romance, Dual 1st POV, Friends-to-Lovers-to-Enemies-to-Lovers, 2nd Chance, Marriage of Convenience, Introverted Bookworm FMC, Playboy Billionaire MMC, Miscommunication, So Much Miscommunication, Slow Burn, Who Did This to You, Consent

Pros

Cat - I like that she’s a girls’ girl and avoids the standard internalized misogyny so many other FMCs fall into. I like that she is a reader, and also that she is on a period of growth. She’s also self aware, and is working to become a better person & be independent.

For the first third of this book, I despised Theo. Loathed. 0 out of 5 stars. Would not recommend. But it turns out, Theo knows not only how to apologize but how to correct his behavior as well. And he realized he needed to challenge his preconceived notions about Cat. I do love character growth.

I like how supportive they become of one another.

I like the writing voice. It strikes a good balance between professional writing and easy readability, without using cringey slang or trying too hard to be cool or trendy. I also appreciate that the characters have growth and become better versions of themselves. I like the writing so much, that if there is a hockey spin off series for the Royals with Cole and Grant, I could see myself reading them (if there is better editing).

Theo’s negative experiences with the female clients he’s courted is an important perspective and was handled with insight and sensitivity.

We love a strong girl friend group.

Consent

Mrs. Archer is the best.

No 3rd act breakup but we get groveling? I’m OK with this.

Cons

Theo - for the first 33% of the book is actually the worst (and also near the end). It took a lot of character development for him to turn it around.

This is a niche pet peeve of mine, but it’s all over this book. I HATE when the MMC thinks it’s funny or entertaining to torment the FMC and make her upset or angry. Call me crazy, but I prefer my MMCs to care about the FMCs’ feelings.

Second niche pet peeve, as a person whose job is literally running a privately held family business: goodness the family business plot was painful to read. I know it is irrelevant to the romance, but that is not how any of that works and is borderline nonsensical.

Ok they are both REALLY insecure, like self loathing level insecure, and while I appreciate their character growth overcoming it eventually, it wasn’t until the end of the book. They spent most of the book really, repetitively, worried about what other people think, & really worried about external validation.

Trying to be LGBTQIA + inclusive with nonbinary officer worker George( which is a pro), but then made a smattering of what I would consider Ace-phobic comments. I don’t think they were meant to be harmful, but they were insensitive.

This book is a bit long for a romance, but the problem is that it feels long. Like, really long. It became a slog to get through, was fairly repetitive, and could benefit from some editing. Then it tried to wrap up really quickly but there were still loose ends. What happened with Cat’s MBA and Corporate Finance class? Did she end up passing? And the bar? What happened there?

Sometimes the writing was contradictory or unclear, and I found myself getting confused.

I really am not a fan of miscommunication and secret keeping as driving factors of the plot. Or the constant one step forward, two steps back, will they/won’t they plot mechanism. I find it irritating and unenjoyable to read. While there was really great communication clearing up their past & assumptions, it felt like they just kept making up reasons they couldn’t be together and it was exhausting.

Missing TW: bullying of FMC & sexual harassment of MMC

Jeezus we get it…he has a big 🍆

Excessive use of the word “masculine” as an adjective.

Conclusion

Would I recommend? Probably not. However, I think there were a lot of things in this particular book that I just personally don’t like, but I do think there was enough potential with the writing style, character growth, & romance moments, that I might consider reading Miles’s book or a future Royals hockey spin off book.

A special thank you to Sophia Travers for sending me an ARC to read ahead of release date ♡︎

Tropes:
💍Marriage of convenience
🥵Fake marriage
🔪Enemies to lovers
💘Childhood friends
💰Billionaire romance

There is nothing I love more than a good billionaire romance. Now add marriage of convenience where they are both secretly pining for one another? And it’s my fave read of the year, easily. Sophia somehow looked into my mind and took all of my favorite tropes to create this story, which I ate up at the beach! It is such a fun read, full of witty banter and that all time favorite enemies to lovers tension. Theo is a 10/10 man and I loved getting to know him. I certainly look forward to reading the other rich men Sophia has written!

This was such a disappointing read. I have read all of Sophia Travers books and loved them all. But this one felt overly long, the 'I'm not worthy' from both of them became tedious. Some of the plot made no sense. And the finale with her father was just over and done with way too quickly.

I read this book SO FAST… I could NOT put it down! From the 50% mark, I knew it was going to be a five star read. I loved the FMC and MMC and their banter throughout the book was adorable. Both of their character development was amazing and I loved that they had such a deep connection. It was a slow burn but the sexual tension throughout the book made it worth it. If you like a good billionaire romance with a lot of spice, I HIGHLY recommend this book. #billionairesmut

Sophia Travers is a new to me author and after reading One Wealthy Wedding I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story centers around Catherine “Cat” Peterson and Theo Archer. They have known each other since she was 5 and he was 7. They fell in love with one another since then. But life and circumstances drifted them apart. Until now, Theo has walked back into Cat’s life once again. As a billionaire.

*One Wealthy Wedding* by Sophia Travers is an absolute gem! Theo and Cat, our protagonists, have a complicated past—she’s a disinherited heiress, and he’s the son of her former housekeeper. Now, years later, they find themselves in a marriage of convenience, but the chemistry between them is undeniable.

This slow-burn romance had me hooked from the start. Theo is the perfect blend of strong and unexpectedly tender, while Cat’s journey from resisting to embracing their connection is beautifully written. The story isn’t just about their steamy encounters (though those pool scenes are 🔥); it’s also about two broken souls finding their way back to each other.

I loved how their relationship evolved, especially as they worked through Cat’s bucket list. The banter, the tension, and the gradual realization that their marriage might be more than just a deal made this a compelling read. Plus, no third-act breakup—bonus!

I received an ARC of this book.
I absolutely devoured the book in a day’s time as I was unable to put it down. The books was so well written and the plot was something catchy than typical tropes that the book had.
I absolutely loved the MC’s chemistry between each other and how the author portrayed them.
I also admired the character development the FMC had and the relationship she had with the people around her.
The book was a slow burn but it was oh so good.
Definitely a must read and I can’t wait for it to release so that everyone else can read this amazing book as well.

Thank you to Sophia Travers for sharing an ARC release of this book. It was my first book by this author and won’t be the last. I loved the story of Theo and Cat. It was a second chance romance which is one of my favorite tropes. The chemistry between Theo and Cat was amazing. It was good to see how all of the characters developed.

Theo was an amazing book boyfriend. He grew a lot throughout the book and so did Cat. They were well suited for each other.

Kudos to Sophia for a great read. I appreciate the opportunity to read this book.

I've stayed up all night reading this. Nevertheless I still don't felt it was that good. Some things didn't make sense at all some things felt Rush and I hated that final discussion I felt that if he truly knew her by then he wouldn't have made those remarks upon her he was so smart but he couldn't resolve the missing piece like come on! More so when I was expecting groveling from his part and it was cut quite short. she forgaved him quite easily even though she claimed that it was going to take time for her to do so so yeah
it would have been better for me if she would have told him instead of making him hurt her in order to find the truth or even better I've thought that he was going to figure it out.

Also I hated this phrase of him " I slept with everything that I saw just to forget you " like disgusting. saying that he wanted her so badly but his father was the villain in the story and the reason of why he did the things he did to her so my question is why after 8 years of not talking to one another he behaved the way he did with her? like supposedly you grown up you're not a kid anymore so I felt it was like total immature of him of speaking to her the way he did ,of taunting her and making her ashamed of herself and her situation of being angry at her and not telling her why. So yeah I just didn't believe the whole" I loved you since I was a kid" as even him his brother tells him "oh she was your friend back then" and he denies it completely and says awful things about her character. I was like why didn't he tell him that yeah they were friends and all but then fall apart? That would have made me believe that there was still some love left. As it was it just felt like it was one-sided honestly so when he says his story I was like sorry dude I don't believe it plus it was soo cringy.

I liked that they didn't fool around from the beginning I like the boundaries and all that and the slow burn. But yeah just in overall I wasn't a big fan.

5 stars! 5 stars!!!
This book was frickin incredible! Absolutely brilliant! I couldn't stop reading and devoured most of it in one sitting. 🤭😈❤😌😏

Cat Peterson was forced to leave her home six months ago. She now works as a bartender to be able to support herself through her MBA degree and while she figures out how to get back her mother's company from her pricķ father. In order for her to inherit it, she has to get married. One night while she's at work, Theo Archer overhears her and offers to marry her. He needs a stable relationship to prove to his investors that he isnt "that" playboy anymore. What better way than a marriage? Only it won't be simple, Cat and Theo share a tumultuous history. They were best friends growing up until he broke her heart.

THEO MF ARCHER 😫🔥 This man is everything! 6'4, green eyes, brown hair and a BILLIONAIRE 😈 He's crazily in love with his woman and will do anything to protect her and keep her happy. He had a difficult childhood and life growing up, with his mother being the housekeeper for Cat's family. She was treated horribly most of the time and it still haunts him. Theo is an absolute gem and sweetheart and I couldn't help falling hopelessly in love with him 😌🤭❤

Cat Peterson is one of my favourite FMC's ever. She's intelligent, brave, headstrong, feisty, bold and frickin stunning! She left her rich lifestyle and took a job as a bartender to achieve her goals and that just proves how strong she is. She's been through absolute hell growing up and kept it hidden, especially from Theo. The man she's always been in love with and who broke her heart. She has a great support system with her friends and now Theo, even if she doesn't want to admit it 🤭

This story drew me in from the start and kept me hooked. Sophia did not disappoint. The pacing was perfect and kept you wanting more with perfectly timed revelations. I'm frickin in love with her work and writing. You're an absolute star Sophia. Thank you so much for the ARC opportunity ❤❤

Get ready to dive into a whirlwind of romance, secrets, and second chances with One Wealthy Wedding by ! 💍✨

Meet Cat and Theo: childhood friends who never quite got over the misunderstandings of their youth. Cat, once the wealthy girl with a crush, now faces losing her inheritance unless she finds a husband. Theo, the housekeeper's son turned successful bad boy, needs a wife to clean up his image. When their paths cross again, they strike a deal—marriage for a year. Simple, right?

But with too many people in on their secret and old wounds resurfacing, Cat and Theo's fake marriage starts feeling a little too real. As they navigate mistrust and buried feelings, Theo helps Cat rediscover her confidence, while Cat shows Theo he's more than just a playboy—he's worthy of love.

Travers weaves a compelling tale of love, growth, and the power of seeing beyond the past. If you're a fan of second chances and swoon-worthy romance, "One Wealthy Wedding" is a must-read! 💖📚

I loved this book; it drew me in from the beginning. I couldn't put it down. Theo and Cat are perfect for each other. The banter between them is everything. Theo will do anything to protect Cat whilst Cat did everything to protect Theo when they were children. Theo's insecurity made him so endearing as an MMC, the way he treated those around him made him the perfect green flag. Cat is strong and feisty without even knowing it. She survived her family and found her own in Theo.

I binged this in 2 days. I loved it! Don’t get me wrong. Theo Archer was an infuriating, egotistical, cocky man. I hated and loved him for it. It made his vulnerable moments all the more delicious. Catherine was powerful and feisty! I loved her background and how strong she was. How willing she was to learn and grow. After years apart and dozens of assumptions between them, their meeting was explosive. I loved how Cat would handle Theo. How Theo would push her to be fiery and sure. This book created some emotional turmoil within me in the very best way. I can ALWAYS appreciate a book that has me closing the book and just 😶. I think Theo could have done more groveling, especially with how he was in the beginning but over all I did end up falling in love with him.

The author did amazing representing each of the MCs emotions, trauma and past. The side characters were fun and an amazing voice of reason. (Believe me! They each needed it.) I can’t wait to see what else the author writes!!

Easily a top read of 2024 for me, and the best rendition of marriage of convenience/forced proximity/slow burn I’ve read in a while!! I thoroughly enjoyed the nuanced, 3D characters; Cat and Theo were perfect for each other. The prose is fresh, as always. And the tension! And spice! This may be my favorite Sophia Travers book to date. 5 ⭐️

⭐️⭐️

I received an ARC for this book.

This started off really strong, I was intrigued from the beginning and enjoyed the pace.

However, the character and plot development felt immature and very underdeveloped, leaving me disappointed. There were a number of contradictions that I felt weren’t explored by the author, especially in regard to the FMCs relationship with her father. There was an argument at c.70% where really hurtful things were said by the MMC. This was a perfect opportunity for delicious grovelling but there was none, he was almost instantly forgiven and none of the relationship issues were addressed.

I ended up really forcing myself to finish this but it could have easily been a DNF for me.

Plot: ⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️ /5

This was my first time ever reading anything by Sophia Travers. I went in with no expectations, and let me just say she DID NOT disappoint! After reading One Wealthy Wedding, I feel down a rabbit hole and read almost everything she’s ever written. Theo and Cats banter and mutual hatred for each other made for an interesting story. I typically don’t love second chance romances, but Sophia Killed it with this one!!

Thank you so much to @sophiatraversauthor for the opportunity to read the advanced copy of One Wealthy Wedding.

I was absolutely IN LOVE with this book. Theo is the type of person you would dream of in a soulmate: considerate, thoughtful, and loving. Cat is the type of person I rooted for in the book as she struggled with difficult family dynamics.

The spice level was 💯 which showed the deep connection both Theo and Cat had for each other.

I cannot wait to read more of @sophiatraversauthor books! One Wealthy Wedding was definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received this ARC and I am so thankful for the opportunity that was given to me.
First starting this I really disliked Theo so badly, even towards the middle I wanted to like him but still disliked him. It wasn't until shortly after that I fell in love with him and wanted to know the ending so badly. I was really praying that the end would be exactly how I wanted...perfect. Low and behold it was exactly what I wanted and as I read it I sat in tears. Happy tears of course because it was perfect and little of Cat got everything she wanted and everything she deserved. I loved loved loved this book so much.

This book has left me speechless! Theo and Cat’s relationship starts off as a fake marriage to help both of them gain something they want. However, things heat up once they both secretly realize that they don’t want it to be fake!

The entire story is incredibly well written! There is banter, tension, spice, and a few trigger warnings!

This makes book 4 that I’ve read by the talented Sophia Travers and they just keep getting better! I’ve always said she writes the best billionaire romance of all time.

I would easily give this book 7 stars, and I would give it a 7 spice rating as well!

ARC Read

When I first read the description of ‘One Wealthy Wedding’, I was hooked. It has a compelling setup that promises an emotional and romantic journey.

I was particularly impressed by Sophia Travis's ability to craft complex and multi-branched characters, tensions and unsolved feelings between Cat and Theo added a wonderful layer of depth to their relationship making their journey all the more compelling to follow.

Overall “One Wealthy Wedding” is a delightful and swoon-worthy romance that had me eagerly turning the pages. Thank you, Sophia Travers, for crafting such an engaging and emotionally vibrant story. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Suppose you enjoy billionaire romances and enough tension to make you squirm. In that case, I’d suggest you read ‘One Wealthy Wedding’ by Sophia Travers.

Thank you @sophiatraversauthor and @greyspromo for the ARC and Happy Release Day!! ❤️

I absolutely devoured the book in one day as l was unable to put it down. 🫶🏼

Theo was Cat’s first infatuation as a kid. She was the rich girl and Theo’s mother worked as her housekeeper.

Theo was the bad boy always causing mischief.

Now the roles have reversed and Theo’s the hot rich millionaire while Cat’s family disowned her and put rules on the release of her inheritance.

The rules being.. to marry by a certain date or her father gets the inheritance.

After a few years of not speaking since they left on a bad note Cat runs into Theo unexpectedly.

This is a true enemies to lovers trope. One thing leads to another and they both could use the fake relationship for both of their convenience so they ended up marrying each other.
