Twisted Obsession

My name is Melody Cameron... Or so I've been told.
When I wake up in the hospital with no memories, I'm shipped off to Denver to live with a distant cousin who knows nothing about me. If family can't help me remember my past, who will?
I don't expect it to be a gorgeous hockey player ten years younger than me. He knows things about me he has no right to know.
Yet, he still keeps secrets. He makes me work for every answer while he unlocks my desire-and fear.

And when his twisted obsession becomes apparent, it's too late. For both of us.

"She wasn't mine - but I wanted her in the worst way."

Jacob Rhodes is a player for the Colorado Titans.
He has everything he could ever want.
At least almost everything.
A couple of years ago Melody Cameron disappeared without a trace.
Ever since then he hasn't been the same.
So when he sees her at his hockey game in the stands…
She's the one that got away but he'll make sure she can't escape him again.

"There was a before me, and there was an after me. But now that she's back, there is no before - and there will be no after. I'm not letting her go."

Melody Cameron doesn't remember anything.
She woke up in a hospital with no memories and has been trying to piece everything together since.
What she does not expect is for Jacob Rhodes the famous hockey player to have answers.
But it won't be easy.
Jacob knows things about her no one else does.
He makes her work for it. Unlocking her desires and fears.
He's obsessed, and it might be too late.

"I was already chasing Melody. Chasing her blindly, through the dark, just waiting for her to make a noise. To draw a breath and reel me in."

I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

"I missed her and I hate her and I'm obsessed with her."

Guys guys guys.
Jokes aside this book was EVERYTHING!!!
I inhaled it it was so good!!
I didn't think it was possible but this series just keeps getting better and better and I bow before S. Massery.
Legit bowing right now.
I did read the prequel before and I highly recommend you read it as well as it gives a little extra when reading this I was literally so happy with that decision.

"You're already mine. You don't know it yet, but you will."

Jacob Rhodes lost Melody Cameron a long time ago. She was the one that got away. But he isn't -planning on letting her go this time. She's his Twisted Obsession, and he will do anything to make her his. Even if she doesn't remember anything, he'll remind her. Whatever it takes.

"I want her running to me and only me. And that will only happen if she thinks he's the worst sort of human. But for her, I'll happily stoop to those levels."

First off, Jacob Rhodes. Can I get a hell yeah that we finally got Jacob's story? Legit still excited about it. Jacob lived up to expectations and even exceeded them!! The obsession is real with this one! I mean the protectiveness, the breaking the law (multiple times), the hockey jersey. I am obsessed with this obsessive man thank you very much.

"She should be worshipped like a goddess. Which is exactly what I plan on doing now… I want to possess her. I want to be in her mind all the time, and on her skin, and in her."

Melody Cameron. Throughout this book we are with Melody as she tries to piece together her past and understand what happened. I legit loved it so much. We saw different aspects, we saw her remembering, and we see her feelings for Jacob while also being confused about why this hockey player seems to know so much about her and no one else does. (Hint Songbird hint).

"Why do I feel safe around him? He's anything but safe."

Two years after graduating from Crown Point University, Jacob Rhodes is playing hockey for the Colorado Titans when he spots a face he’s been searching for.

Melody Cameron disappeared from his life without so much as a word. When they finally come face-to-face, it’s clear why.

Holy mothertrucking shite y’all. I’ve had a lot of book boyfriends over the years. I wasn’t sure I’d ever find my perfect man, though a few have come close. Hear me now: The search is over; he has been found. Jacob Rhodes is the love of my life. He is the definition of a morally grey (very dark grey) alphahole with eyes only for his woman. There is literally nothing he won’t do for her (or to her 🥵) and I’ve never swooned so hard in my life. He won’t be for everyone, but that’s good because sharing isn’t really my thing…

Jesus fucking christ. This was going well until 42%. Obsessed H who hasn't been able to get hard for another woman ever since he slept with his female professor but also hates her for disappearing on him but is happy that she's back now after 2 years despite having amnesia. Sounds good on paper doesn't it? No OW drama except him trying to move on by kissing other girls but not doing anything more because he was hung up on the h. But then comes this scene. Where the h asks him if he has a girlfriend and instead of reassuring her that no, he does not in fact, have a girlfriend what does he do? He calls a random girl whose number he had on his phone for reasons he couldn't remember and I quote, was "puck bunny" material. He then proceeds to kiss her, touch her tits and make her suck his flaccid dick in front of the h just to prove that no other woman gets him hard. Really, dipshit? That's how you reassure the woman you want to make yours? Fucking bullshit. Not very boy obsessed, is it? I really wanted to continue this book because up until that mark, it was all going good. I could even see it becoming a four star read. But I just can't now. I mean, I had high hopes for Jacob and to see him pull this shit and for Melody to give in to him after only a weak protest. I fucking hate it. Anyways, that just ruined my mood lol. Imma go to bed now and wake up tomorrow morning pretending that I haven't read this.

THE DARKEST hockey romance 🖤👀 I loved it and that concerns me!

“I’ll be sweet, I’ll be helpful. I’ll be the knight in shining armor. Until I have her anyway. Then the need for pretense will drop. But by then, it’ll be too late for her.”

Melody has amnesia and is trying to remember…just anything at all. She suddenly gets recognized by a star hockey player and is so curious to see how he fits into her life. She thinks it’s friends to lovers but for him it’s a second chance to entrap her!

Meanwhile, Jacob here is just a walking & talking red flag! He has a an awful addiction to drugging and manhandling our girl Melody 🚩 IT’S SO BAD! This man has zero boundaries and I’m talking stalking, cameras, drugging…the whole shaBANG 👀 And all this time she has no idea this is happening and is just happy to reconnect with her “old friend” Jacob!

🚩 amnesia trope

🚩 lots & lots of somnophilia!

🚩 kink exploration because she forgot what she’s into

🚩 REVERSE age gap!

🚩 stalker mmc that loves to manipulate

🚩 overflowing with spice!! 🌶️

This was incredibly dirty and I still can’t believe how morally pitch-black Jacob’s character was. I guess his character was balanced by the reverse age gap that gave a bit more power to Melody because…girl was really lost & confused out there in more ways than one.

There is this OUTRAGEOUS SCENE tho! Jacob basically arranges a threesome with another girl just so he can prove to Melody that he ‘only gets hard for her’ and girl I get it but nah…..that was too unhinged even for me!

Super problematic of course… 4.5 dark romance stars

Romance: 🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😄🙂🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Jacob Rhodes - He is a hockey player on the Colorado Titans NHL team. Prior to getting drafted, he played for Crown Point University while attending college. While there, he fell in love with one of his professors and they had an affair, but when she up and left with no word, he was nearly destroyed. He couldn’t find her, so he decided to put all his effort and energy into hockey. He thought he found her a year ago, but it turned out to be a dead end. Then one day while in the NHL playoffs, he sees her in the stands.

The heroine: Melody Cameron - she went with her cousin to New York city to see if it held any memories since he told her she used to live there, but nothing looked familiar to her. When they go to a hockey game between New York and Colorado, they see that one of the players seems to be staring at her. Three months ago she woke up in the hospital with no memory of who she was. She had injuries which included seventeen stitches in her head and a horizontal cut across her throat and handprints all over. The doctors said it looked like she was hit by a car and someone tried to finish her off.

The Story: Melody was put into the custody of her older cousin Thomas when she was released from the hospital, though her memory hasn’t gotten any better since then. Her cousin hasn’t been much help since he didn’t know her well and wouldn’t give her any information on what happened to her parents. So, when a young guy comes up to her while she is on a bathroom break at the hockey game, she wants to know how he knows her. Miles Whiteshaw is his name and the hockey player that was staring at her comes out and is mad at her because she didn’t recognize him. She finds out his name is Jacob, and she sees him again a few nights later and he answers some of her questions.

I really liked the first audiobook in this series, and the narrators, so I bought the rest of the series without even looking at the blurbs. However, if I would have looked, I probably wouldn’t have bought this book. It has so many things I dislike, a heroine that is a decade older than the Hero, the professor/student romance trope, a heroine with amnesia. Also, this series is chock full of very obsessive psycho stalker anti-Heroes, so the idea of a hero stalking a woman with amnesia sounded very crazy to me.

Jacob is devious, so he doesn’t tell Melody everything. He doesn’t want to lose her again, so he doesn’t want to bring up Crown Point. He lost her once and didn’t know why she left so he wants more control this time. He thinks the man she was with at the last game was her husband not her cousin. Jacob finds out pretty quickly that he isn’t her husband when he breaks into her house and sees her sleeping alone in her bed. From the past, he does know she was married at one time. He doesn’t know what happened to the husband who once confronted Jacob.

Like the other books in this series, I am not fond of Jacob’s pursuit of Melody at the beginning of this one. From his inner commentary, we know that she used to like his obsessive pursuit when she was his professor. Though now, he breaks into her house and leaves evidence he has been there. She is a girl who lost her memory in a brutal attack where someone tried to murder her, yet he is scaring her by letting her know a man was in her room while she slept. Then Jacob drugs and rapes her to make her think her cousin did it, so she runs to him for help. It seems beyond cruel to me. Though we later find out that in the past she liked his kinks, and he does eventually tell her what he did to her, and she doesn’t throw a fit about it, she pretty much just accepts it.

In this book, I don’t like the kinks of this couple. Both of them are in to sexual degradation and humiliation, which I really hate, also sex in public places. It doesn’t help that the heroine likes it also, because I am not into any of that and even reading about it makes me cringe. And though I am fine with other people having kinks as long as it is consensual, I just done get some of them. This was definitely my least favorite book of this series. Which is funny because it got the best Goodreads rating so far of the series. So, I guess other people don’t have the same triggers as I do.

Also, I couldn’t get over how stupid both Jacob and Melody are. She was nearly murdered, possibly by her husband, but definitely by someone she doesn’t know since she lost her memory. Then someone texts her with a threat, but still, she goes out walking around by herself in public. I mean he could definitely afford a guard. Though I definitely like the part of this series where each of the heroine’s has someone dangerous after them. I like the fact that there is a lot of suspense near the end of each book. I also think that there are way too many sexy scenes in each of these books, there seems to be one or more in nearly every chapter. I like a lot of steam in a romance but not so much that it overwhelms the story and I end up fast forwarding through the intimate scenes.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Kylie Stewart. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite male narrators, he is completely believable as a twenty-something hockey player, and he does great dirty talk. Kylie Stewart has a nice voice that is clear and feminine, and she does sound believable as the older woman, though not too old.

Once caught, she’s never escaping me.

Every time I think S Massery has written her most unhinged hero yet, she goes and proves me wrong. And Jacob Rhodes? This man is on a whole other level.

Somnophilia? Check.
Degradation kink? Check.
Crazy possessiveness? Check, check AND CHECK
Reverse age gap? Check

Now if you haven't yet read the prequel, Twisted Obsession Prequel: Meeting Melody, it's an absolute must read prior to diving into this book. The prequel is what really lays down the foundation of the relationship between Jacob and Melody. Well, if you can call their twisted union a relationship anyhow. Considering that Jacob is a student and she's a professor and he goes after her with singleminded intent.

Now the absolute mind f*ck that this book was, and pun most definitely intended, is insane. Jacob hasn't seen Melody since she up and disappeared without a trace back in college. Now he's surprised to see her in the audience of the NFL game he's playing in. What he expects even less is that she has no recollection of who he is, or her life before.

Melody work up in the hospital after with no memory of who she is or was. All she knows is that her traumatic injuries show signs of attempted murder but she has no idea who would even do that. When a handsome NFL stranger offers an insight to her prior life, she grasps it with both hands. But the man isn't all he seems.

Oh what a twisted tale this was. The mystery of what happened to Melody is a dark webbing that wraps itself around everything else. And while I can usually see the plot twist coming, this one took me completely by surprise. Like jaw on the floor shocking. Jacob is twisted and toxic in all the best ways. If morally gray is your favorite, you'll love him. I know I did. This man is all kinds of deranged. SO if you're expecting a Prince Charming, this isn't the book for you.

But if you want a morally gray man who is wholly obsessed with his woman beyond all reason and will do anything and everything to keep her, then prepare yourself to be obsessed.

And that preview into Knox's story?
Oh.
MY.
GOD.

I need that book so bad I can actually taste it.

I was ready to blacklist this author after my last experience with her...

Then, a moot saw the scathing review I left on the first book of this series and told me this book was better and I should listen to it, because she knows i like the "reverse age gap" trope.

Well, I did, and she’s right. It is better.

But not good enough to deserve above 1.5 stars.

I don't like cat fights. If you have two women fighting over a man, in any way, in your book, that book is an immediate 1 star to me.

I don't like to even see a HINT of jealousy on the FMC's parts, let alone a whole confrontation/cat fight. That is pathetic.

i want heroines who are girl's girls and most importantly, SECURE.

So that scene with Melody slut shaming that girl Jacob invited just to humiliate her by making her give him a bj on his flaccid dick, in front of Melody to "prove" to Melody... i honestly don't know what he was trying to prove, but nevertheless, the girl was humiliated and we thought she had left until she confronted Melody outside and was about to... fight her?

Why?

And why didn't she instead try to fight the man who humiliated her...

That is nonsensical behavior... and girls seeing other girls as "competition" over a man makes me sick.

Fight over a job, a pet, a house, if you must. Not over a man.

So yeah, we didn't need either scene, but we definitely didn't need the second scene with Melody slutshaming the girl's clothes and the girl being pathetic after Jacob already humiliated her.

Go home!

Why are you wating outside like a dirty rat after you were just thrown out and humiliated?

That annoyed me so much.

Also, i love smut, as you all know...

But not empty smut in a romance book...

I expect empty smut in erotica, and when ive read erotica, ive read more passionate smut than this book.

This author practically wasted all this smut by making it empty...

If it’s just body parts slapping into each other, then it's not romance. It's barely erotica, because even erotica has some heart...

The smut was good, and it would have been GREAT if the author put heart into it, and made it passionate. It felt empty, especially on the MMC side.

Also, I wanted to see more flashbacks of when Melody was teaching and Jacob was pursuing her. And more flashbacks about Jacob's life after she left him

Those are some opportunities for some angsty content that this author didn't take advantage of.

Another great and dark story in this series. This one was twisted and sometimes confusing, because Melody herself has lost her memories. It was thrilling to read how she regains her memory and solves the puzzle step by step.
Melody and Jacob were former professor x student but now they both are out of college. Jacob is fully obsessed with Melody and sometimes he was kinda cute. Like all men he was possessive and morally dark. There are scenes were the consent is missing (involving sex and drugs) but in my opinion Jacob does way better than Steele. Overall he accepts Melodys boundaries and is there for her when she needs him. I liked these two together, they fit. The reverse age gap was well done, I enjoyed their tension and banter.
Not my highlight in this series but very good and entertaining.

Book hangover. I just finished this and all I want to do is to reread Twisted Obsession. This book got me out of my romance reading slump let's goooo

1. JACOB IS PERFECT 🫶🏾🥰 He puts all other stalkers to shame. No one does somnophilia like him and no one goes down like him. This guy is eating like he’s on fasting diet 👅👅👅💦

Honestly. This is the progress I love to see in romance novels. I’m also reading a bonafide bodice ripper published in the 80s or so, and while the insanely obsessed heroes don’t change, I have noticed heroes written before the 1990s never go down/the heroine’s orgasm is not always (or regularly) obtained due to hero’s selfishness.

2. This book is so good that I now am determined to get into the last two books of this series that I DNFed.

3. Is it in poor taste to bring up another author? I can’t help it but this series reminds me of Shantel Tessier’s LORDS series in terms of the sex scenes. Oh lordy. These men got me all some type of way 😳💦💕

4. Ok but also respect to Melody. Jacob works so well because he and Melody are hot together. You can't just put Jacob with anybody. With obsessed heroes who don't have too much knowledge about the heroines, it can always be tricky, but Jacob's POV sold me on his singular devotion to her.

Go into this not knowing anything. I didn’t read the novella that stars this couple, and thank goddess I did not. Because it put a lot more suspense into things, but the pieces all come together. I think the novella probably talked more about their time at Crowne Point. I need some suspense to keep me interested and that the heroine didn’t know who she was, but the hero knew, and was obsessed with her created some hot af tension. Especially as somnophilia occurs so early on.

The dirty talk was done so well. I'm just rambling now but this is important. Not too much, not too little but consistently bothered 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

5. To speak on a more serious note. I thought it was interesting how the 20-something year old hockey boys are considered men. I know it’s just wish fulfillment, but I sometimes can’t get into new adult or college-set romances because I can’t suspend my disbelief that 20-somethings are gorgeous specimens at the peak of their intelligence 😂

Especially when the heroine notices a few times how odd it is she is hanging out with twenty-somethings but also not really thinking about it beyond there. Personally, I would have removed this or expanded this out. It feels odd because she points it out but doesn’t really do much but shrug her shoulders.

I felt like the author tried hard for Jacob to be seen as a traditionally masculine man. I mean. He’s an amazing hero and it was dang hot when he said that even though she was his teacher, she had no power over him 🥵😩

Yet the implication that even in this situation where the woman has institutional power, she is told she has no power. Well. It just feels like a cop-out. It would have added depth to explore this AND have those kinks (degradation, dirty talk 🥰).

That being said, I don’t think I would have wanted the major plot of the story to change (I loved this story!!) BUT that it would have been an impressive and subtle piece of writing if the author could have conveyed these ideas.

As I’m currently reading 2 other different romance novels, it does get me thinking of how and where older works are more progressive/experimental and where they are not. I am reading about an Alpha heroine who is not punished/bested by the hero but often gets the last word, has the best schemes. So. It has me reflecting on dark romances and how fun they are but also how they need more heroines who understand the fighting spirit goes beyond just simply running away.

And EEEE Knox’s story is coming Feb. 16 😈

Really looking forward to Knox’s story but he’d better be a bad boy not just patting his doe eyes around like a little boy trying to charm his mom.

THE PREQUEL IS NECESSARY! It will give you so much important background context.

What can I say? I love this series. LOVE IT. This is not a guilty pleasure, it’s just a full pleasure reading it. Jacob was as unhinged as they come. But this is exactly what you expect and want from the men in this series. Each love interest deals with their obsessions in their own unique ways. And I’m just here for the ride.

Jacob fell in love at first sight with Melody two years ago. She was forbidden fruit, his college professor, off limits in every sense of the word, but that only made Jacob want her even more. And in this series we know you can never ever get between these men and their obsessions.

One day Melody simply disappeared without a trace, and Jacob was left confused and heartbroken. He’s been searching and searching for her for years. Then one day, lo and behold, he sees her in the crowd of his NHL game sitting next to some strange man. The only problem for Jacob? She has amnesia and has no idea who he is.

And so begins Jacob’s journey to reclaim Melody and remind her of who he is, and what they mean to each other. This was a more sentimental journey than I expected. Jacob is truly, madly, deeply in love with Melody. And he is fiercely devoted to her, even if she can’t remember him yet.

But don’t worry, Jacob is no teddy bear. Not even close. He’s a dark romance hero who does some very naughty things all in the name of love, expressing his love, and laying claim to her. But just like every girl in this series, they’re a dark match made in heaven. Melody loves him just as much as he loves her.

Before I leave let me tell you the crumbs for Knox’s story?? Miss Massery has fed us! From the time I met Knox I’ve been feral for his story and oh boy is his gonna be insane!!! Then Whiteshaw Boys are my faves ❤️

My gratuitous reminder that this is a dark romance book and if you are sensitive you need to read the trigger warnings. This author is great and always clearly lists every possible trigger you, as the reader, could have. Like all dark romance this is a super duper spicy book!! 🌶️ 🔥 And when I say Jacob is a giver, he’s a GIVER. Enjoy!

THIS IS NOT A DRILL - I GOT AN ARC!!! Real review soon!!

I think Jacob is gonna be an absolute psychopath.

And you know what? Bring it on. I’m here for it.

If you haven’t read the prequel wtf are you waiting for? This boy is not to be trifled with. I’m hoping since Melody is older that she’ll have more of a backbone than our previous FMCs. But then again she did kinda shrug at his late night sleepover confession. And I get it Melody. I get it.

Was this written by a 24 year old?

Melody I'm-10-years-older Cameron aka I'm going to be sick and Jacob I-let-another-woman-s*ck-me-in-front-of-the-love-of-my-life-to-prove-to-her-only-she-gets-me-hard Rhodes' journey wasn't twisted so much as juvenile.

Why make her 10 years older if she's going to act like a 20 year old?

Jacob, on the other hand, acted exactly like I imagine 24 year olds perceive themselves.

↠ So many mentioned breeding kink in this (biggest reason why I picked it), but I just want to point out that not using condoms is barely breeding kink light. There's no talk except a question here about her period and thinking of kids a couple of times there.

Based on the completely divided reviews, I really thought I would hate-read this. But I neither loved it nor hated it.

Just a too-long plot with characters that could've been so much more if there was even a semblance of maturity in between the two.

The steam was hot, though. The stars are for that only.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: second chance
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Twisted Obsession is a super fast paced, rollercoaster of a ride with tons of twists, turns, and uncovered secrets along the way that will have you glued to your seat. I've loved all the Hockey Gods books, but Twisted Obsession is definitely my favorite of the bunch. We all knew there was "something" going on between Jacob and Melody back in the previous stories, but definitely no hint of the clusterfrack that unfolds.

Absolutely loved it! Twisted Obsession is well written and definitely moves quickly. I love me a good amnesia trope and this one definitely delivers, lol. Melody just walks back into Jacob's life after two years and can't even remember him. Jacob's definitely not going to let her disappear again and will manipulate, stalk, lie, beg, and coerce to ensure that happens. The chemistry between them is OFF👏🏼 THE👏🏼 CHAIN👏🏼 and the smexy times, super hot. Really just an all around fantastic read with all your favorite characters from previous books as side characters. There's also a great lead in for Knox's book that will have you panting for the next release ❤️.

“I’m so in love with you, Jacob Rhodes. The parts of you that the rest of the world doesn’t get to see. The shadows.”

I came for some toxicity and though I got that I can admit this book also made me emotional. Like seeing Melody journey of her navigating through her amnesia was a lot. However, I love seeing her and Jacob come together and become something beautiful🥹.

If edging had a face, it would be yours, Jacob Rhodes…

This long awaited fourth installment of the Hockey Gods series is without a doubt, my favorite thus far.
Jacob and Melody are a captivating duo, and their chemistry is undeniable.
This book couples mystery and intrigue with an already action packed backdrop of feuds and friendships both on,and off the ice.

With a wiped memory, and far more questions than answers,Melody is spotted at a Colorado Titans game, by none other than the man she begrudgingly left behind two years earlier.

Jacob, while never losing hope that he’d find her once again, had almost resigned himself to never getting closure with the only woman he’s ever pined for,and felt a true connection with.
Determined to make her both remember, and fall in love with him, he does everything within his power to maneuver her into his home and bed. While he,in true Jacob form, infiltrates her heart and mind.

One thing remains constant in both Jacob and Melody’s lives, and that is the friendship of the Crown Point crew. With help from their tight-knit group, past wrongs are exposed, present threats are eliminated, and the future looks pretty damn good. Bravo for a fantastic 4th serving of this addictive series!

Side note:Sara had plenty of (hat 😉) tricks up her sleeve, and we were treated to glimpses of current events in our favorite hockey boys’ lives, alongside Jake and Melody’s story. Knox is a true highlight in Twisted Obsession. His fun-loving attitude took a bit of a beating, right along with his larger than life ego, and it was the perfect set up to his story, which is up next. I love the friendship that develops between Knox and Melody, and enjoyed the more sensitive, vulnerable side of him we readers have so rarely gotten a glimpse of.
I’m very much looking forward to his day of reckoning, and subsequent happy ending….that I envision him having to strive for!

These books are a guaranteed good time! S. Massery has perfect the niche genre off dark hockey romance, and it shows in every book she releases in this series.

The only reason I gave this book 4 🌟’s is because parts of the story kind of got chaotic to me at times or just completely went over my head.

I cannot wait for Knox’s book with those teasers sprinkled throughout this book oml😩

This book tried to put me in a slump soo hard 😫

Everything was...off. The dark vibes weren't vibing and were used solely for the shock factor. The tropes were thrown in just for kicks and giggles.

The heroine's plus size body was described in a weird fetishising way. The amount of times "curves" was being used is a criminal offence at this point. The hero wanting to "worship her stomach rolls, her fat ass with cellulite and stretch marks" was a weird flex. Listen, i have both cellulite and hormonal stretch marks, doesn't mean I want to read it in a romance.

I didn't care about the heroes separately and them together 😂 something was clearly missing.

S Massery delivers yet another dark and delicious hockey romance!!! 🖤
Jacob was unhinged in all the ways we love, completely obsessed with his woman and not having her? Well that’s just not an option.
🖤Reverse Age gap (one of my personal favs, when done well)
🖤Obsessed MMC (yes, yes he was 😨🥵)
Plus a really fresh twist on the professor student dynamic!

Ok so, Melody was a professor and Jacob was her student, you see where I’m going with this?
BUT Melody has completely lost her memory after a traumatic event. Once Jacob finds melody again by chance 2 years later he makes it his mission to keep her in his life after he was left devastated when she had left without a trace….or so he thought!

The twists and turns! The storyline and the spice dear god 🥵

A solid 4.5 ⭐️ for me

I don't know what it is about this series, but I do really enjoy it. I get the darkness and morally grey heroes in the form of hockey players, and yet, she still somehow manages to turn their obsessions in something romantic for us dark romance readers.

And our man, here, he is OBSESSED. My only real critique of the novel is that I wish the suspense aspect and the who hurt her plot line was more prevalent throughout the novel. It is mentioned occasionally but I really felt it could have been threaded through.

It is still one of my favorite standalones of the series, but please make sure you heed the warnings given by the author. This contains triggers such as somnophilia.

***audiobook - another great listne, loved the narrators

I have been waiting for this book since i read the last one. Melody and Jacob have becomy my new favourite couple in this series (i´m not sure if the next one could be my new favourite).
I´m not usually into the amnesia trope, but in this book it was made perfectly.
He is so obsessed with her that she doesn´t even know.
How they met again was so cute.
And the ending?? That plot twist is something that i didn´t see coming.
The next one is going to be Know, I love him so much and i can´t wait to read it.

So close to five stars but there was a scene that DID NOT need to be included 😒 I understand the point the author was trying to make (which is the ONLY reason I didn’t DNF because of this scene) but it was still dumb af to include. If that hasn’t been included though I would’ve absolutely loved this book, I really liked both Jacob and Melody

Note to self: don’t read Knox’s book. Surely it’ll be about him and his “wife”. So he’s married to the h but gets his dick sucked by randoms (and I’m sure he does more)

Not safe : he makes a girl suck him off infront of the h
The h asks him if has a gf and to prove that he doesnt get hard for anyone else he calls a booty call girl and makes her suck him off infront of the h while he plays with her tits and when he doesn't get hard he humiliates the poor girl and throws her out.
How the fuck does anyone find this romantic or sexy??? And the h of course gets turned on and gives him a bj
He humiliated and disrespected 2 women when he could have just fucking said that she's it for him

I truly was gobsmacked by this one. From the prequel we knew these two were fabulous together but when the dice rolled and cards were shown I was going out of my mind. Plus we learn what’s happening next. Or should I say who. The stage is set my friends and it is absolutely clear why I love this series!

3.5/5🌶️

This series blows my mind every single time. There isn’t one book I haven’t loved. The way the hockey gods are absolutely OBSESSED with their women… it will never get old,

This is book 4 in the series, following Jacob & Melody who have somewhat of a past together (definitely real the prequel if you haven’t!). Story starts out when Jacob first spots Melody in the crowd at one of his hockey games. He’s shocked to see her to say the least because he’s basically been looking for her for the past two years. Trouble for him? Melody doesn’t remember anything about their past. That doesn’t deter Jacob though. Now that he’s found her again, he’s keeping her & never letting go.

I will say, Steele & Miles are still my faves but Jacob was still so swoony. He was down BAD for Melody, even if it was in his own morally grey way.

I cannot wait for Knox’s book — I’m so ready for him to get his redemption arc 👏🏼

Tropes:
- Dark Hockey Romance
- Reverse Age Gap
- Amnesia
- Professor x Student
- He Falls First
- Boy Obsessed
- Second Chance
- Found Family
- Forced Proximity

I’ve never come across a dark romance and sports romance combination. But I am SO here for it! This was definitely my type of messed up, stalker romance.

I wasn’t a fan of one of the tropes though. It’s a trope I avoid if I’m aware of it. But otherwise, this was a really good read.

If you like:

- a curvy FMC
- age gap (she’s older)
- touch her you die
- hockey romance
- dark romance

Then you’ll enjoy this.

This was my first of this author’s work and can be read as a standalone. I did not read the prequel of this book like the author suggested (yet) cause I was just so sucked into this from the start. But I cannot wait to go back and read all the others in this series.
