I am proud to say that I have been to the Isle of Skye (the ‘cloud island’). It is wild and beautiful and its Cuillin Hills are mist-enshrouded. When you stand next to a sea cliff, you can inhale the freshest air you can find on Earth.
The story of this book takes place in the Isle of Skye and it starts with a game between the Unseelie King and the Seelie Queen.
Two humans are the pawns in this game:
-Aeden MacKinnon, a highlander who is obliged to the Unseelie King and he has become his Vengeance. Aeden has lost his self and he is about to lose his soul.
-Jane Sillee, a romance novelist who is transported to medieval Scotland by the Seelie Queen to break the evil spell. Jane will seduce Aeden with home food, children's laughter and lots of touching and kissing.
Aeden used to visit Jane in her dreams. There is a realm, especially for this reason, called the Dreaming. Jane has fallen in love with him, before they actually meet in person.
The book mixes delightfully dreams and reality and it is a sweet fairytale. It is full of beautiful images, which can make you daydream:
“Much later, when he possesed her completely, a full blood moon stained the sky above the Highlands of Scotland.”

Into the Dreaming is a short story set in Moning’s Highlander/Fever world originally published in the anthology Tapestry in 2002. I first read it in the spring of 2010 when I was on a desperate hunt for clues to discover what the heck Jericho Barrons was and trying to assuage the pain of the wait for Shadowfever. Into the Dreaming then was a fun read, provided me with what I thought at the time were decent clues but in the end did not turn out to be anything but a sweet distraction. Once again I find myself in a desperate wait for Moning to publish her books. Fever Moon, which is a graphic novel with a new Barrons and Mac storyline is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2012. Like a good addicted fan, I have already pre-ordered it. Then there is Iced, Moning’s new spin-off series set in the Fever world, with Dani as the main character that is scheduled to be released on October 30, 2012. I have that pre-ordered as well. Like many good Fever/Moning fans, I own a variety of versions of her books — ebook, audio and hard cover. And that is for all of her books — I own and have read and listened (and re-read and re-listened multiple times) to all of her books. I bought both CDs released that accompany her Fever world. I am a semi-regular reader of her blog, I have posted at her forum and I have considered going to her new release parties in New Orleans. I write all of this so you will all understand I am a fan of her work. Have I proven myself?
Okay, so here it is — Into the Dreaming with bonus material is not worth paying the hardcover or new release e-book price. Get it from the library, look for the older anthology Tapestry and read the short story there. This book offers fans very little to justify the price tag. The short story “Into the Dreaming” itself is a decent read if fans of Moning’s writing enjoyed her other Highlander books. If you haven’t read her Highlander series, then I recommend starting with Kiss of a Highlander, which is the beginning of the highlander story arc and then moving on to the good ones in the highlander series which are Dark Highlander, Immortal Highlander and Spell of a Highlander. Note — I do not recommend starting with the first three in Moning’s highlander ”series”. The word series incorrectly denotes an ongoing story arc; between books 1-3 and 4+ in the highlander series, there is not an important story arc connection. The storylines are not connected to the latter novels and many readers (die hard fans like myself) find books 1, 2 and 3 not very enjoyable; I have known many Fever fans to start off the highlander “series” with book 1 and lose steam before they get to the good books (4++), thus giving up on the highlander storylines. The paranormal and fae connection to Moning’s Fever world becomes much stronger and better written with book #4. How does this short story fit in? Into the Dreaming, the short story, is not connected in story arc to any of the highlander books and many fans read it last — after having finished Spell of a Highlander.
Okay, so why is Into the Dreaming with bonus material not worth the new release price tag?
No Substantive Material
There is the short story Into the Dreaming — but that has already been released in an anthology 10 years ago and as an ebook short by itself. If you have already read this, the new re-release is not worth buying the book to read again. If you haven’t, get it from the library. The short story itself hasn’t changed.
Moning includes a proposal sent to a publisher for a never published romance novel. Why is this interesting? I just don’t get it. Anyway, it is a waste of time to read.
Moning includes a deleted scene from Kiss of a Highlander. The scene is not great and I agree with the original move to delete it from the novel. It doesn’t add anything new to the storyline.
Moning includes an alternate opening to Dark Highlander that she scrapped because she (rightfully in my opinion) got the storyline wrong. She wanted to take Dark Highlander in a different direction, with a different heroine! The published version is better. Again, in my opinion the alternate opening is not worth the time to read. And Ms. Moning made a very good decision to toss this version and go with what was ultimately published. Dark Highlander is my favorite in the highlander series, so for me reading the alternate version was not enjoyable at all.
There is an excerpt from Dark Fever in this book, okay I am guessing that most people paying the new release price have read Dark Fever and if not — it is readily available elsewhere.
Moning includes a teaser of her new graphic novel Fever Moon, which is a graphic novel and the images are in black and white. Fever Moon is going to be released in July 2012 …. again, this does not make the novel worth the time or price tage.
From my point of view, the re-release of Into the Dreaming does not offer readers anything substantive that isn’t out there in one way or another. I am still a fan of Moning, I wish her the best and am excitedly waiting for Fever Moon and Iced.

4 "Dreaming" Stars!
This is a fantastic little sampling of the magic that is Karen Marie Moning 's HIGHLANDERS series! I loved it! Wish Aedan and Jane had a full length story. Happy reading!

This novella is a re-read for me. I love Moning's Highlanders. Like seriously love. This novella is billed as Highlander #8, but it also has hints of the Fever series. Just an FYI if you haven't read it. Oh, and there's an ebook version full of extras. I'd buy that one. This review is for the paperback from '02.
Jane Sillee is a chronic daydreamer. She works in a coffee shop by day, and writes in every spare second she has. But at night, her dreams are of a Highland warrior.
The seelie queen Aibhoil (same one from the Fever series), and the unseelie king are both battling over a Highlander named Aedan MacKinnon, grandson to the great king the MacAlpin. The unseelie king has taken Aedan to be his Vengeance. Since the unseelie king can't meddle in the mortal world, he sends his Vengeance to do it.
Aibhoil knows this is wrong, and while she can't free Aedan, she can give him hope. Searching time, she finds his one true mate. And makes sure they meet in the Dreaming. Basically they dream of each other.
Jane knows he's real, and one day, she's sent a tapestry with his likeness woven into it, and when she holds it out, she's taken to 1428 Scotland. Where Aedan is. What the unseelie king didn't tell Aedan is that 5 years in Faerie is 500 mortal years. By 1428, their contract allows him 1 month in his home. But it's been 500 years, so nothing is there. That doesn't bother Aedan though, since the unseelie king has made sure he won't remember anything but Vengeance.
Jane has one month to realize she's not dreaming, make Aedan remember who is was, and make him fall in love with her. But how can she do all that when he doesn't want to spend time with her?
This is a fun story that reminds me of what an amazing writer Moning is. It's full of the best parts of her heroes, heroines, and the fae who have such a huge role in the Fever series.
I recommend it even if you haven't read the Highlander or Fever series since it stands on its own pretty well. Go for it! It's a sexy and fun read.

This was a lovely short story and me being hooked to KMM's Highlander world, I just had to read it <3
Aedan KacKinnon was captured by the Unseelie King, tortured and finally imprisoned in the Unseelie realm where he forgot everything that made him human. After 500 years, the king gives him a month to break his hold on him, if the warrior falls in love, and was loved in return, he will be released back to the human world.
There was an interesting involvement from the Queen of Fae in this one, apparently she and the Unseelie King have a history together O_o I didn't really get her part of the ending...
Aedan was a great character, I felt really bad for him, being stripped of his humanity. He was in a dark cold place for 5 centuries, his whole body was practicaly turned to ice. This is my favorite line:
“Then give me those kisses of yours, lass, and be quick about it.” He paused a moment, then added in a low, tense voice, “I’m cold, lass. I’m so cold.”

Well...this novella is pure escapism with a handful of hot Highlanders and medieval setting and castle and...the Unseelie King, Seelie Queen and the Faeries! Who am I to say no?
The story is enjoyable to an extend, the male and female lead are okay-ish as well. However, this book totally sucks on the realism department. Oh, don't tell me it's a fantasy romance so realism is not needed here, a certain amount of realism is needed in every book.
Plus I was really pissed when the female lead said things like she was "born in the wrong century". I mean, woman, wake the fuck up! Before 'this very, very wrong century', most women on Earth had no rights to choose their own husbands, to decide whether to give birth to children or not (let's not forget women tended to die during child-birth back then). Many of the womanfolks didn't get to have education, they also didn't get to keep money, land and income under their own names and weren't allowed to have a job, for the rest of their lives they had to depend first on their fathers, then their husbands and eventually their sons!
Tell me again how you were born in the wrong century, I dare you.

For being a short story, it was such a nice book. It was like reading every good part of a book all together without having to read the boring parts in the middle.
This book was so different from the rest of the highlander books in the series. I absolubtely loved Aedan. With his memory lost he was the sweetest thing I've ever seen. I just wanted him to remeber everithing and become the hot and sexy warrior you knew he would become.
And it was nice to see that for once the girl in the book was the dominant one. I loved this book, eventhough it was really short, I read it in almost 4 hours. I would 've loved to see more of this couple.
Nevertheless, the Keltars still have mhy heart, no other highlanders will be as hot as those 3 keltars.

This is a nice little short story. It may appeal to those Fever fans out there who are anxiously awaiting Shadowfever. There is a glimpse of the Unseelie King and a little background on the Seelie Queen.
As a love story, it is a little short. It is rather funny, and Aeden MacKinnon fits that burly, beefy Highlander mold just right. Jane Sillee is transported back to Scotland in the 1400's to Aiden's family castle. She has one month to make him fall in love with her or he will be trapped in the Unseelie King's prison forever.
Aeden is like an amnesiac. After 500 years with the Unseelie King, he has lost his humanity, his capacity to love. His perceptions of life, Jane, and Jane's little kitten are often comical. Jane is the perfect woman for Aedan and she introduces him back to his humanity a little at a time.
A nice little diversion and easily read in an afternoon.
For Fever fans - The Dreaming is a place in between worlds where mortals and fae meet and where true love is preordained.

Probably, or you’ll just be like wtf is going on???? This is kind of a strange novella that fits into her Highlander series but also doesn’t and she said it’s kind of the set up for her Fever series. If you want to really read in order, you’ll want to read the full Highlander series then her Fever series.
Basic plot:
Aeden has been cursed by the Unseelie king and must him for 5 years. When he agrees to the bargain, he doesn’t realize the king tricked him into 5 faery years – 500 human ones. The Seelie queen interferes to assist in breaking his curse – after 500 years he gets one month among mortals. If he can love someone and be loved in return, his curse will be broken. She gives the hero and heroine time in the ‘dreaming’ to come to love each other.
Give this a try if you want:
- Lowish steam – It’s quite a short novella (just over 100 pages) and there’s a decent amount of kisses and sexy thoughts for the page count, but still no even really 1 full scene.
- Amnesia plot – hero cannot remember his life before being the Unseelie king’s assassin
- 1428 time period Scotland – though this is
- Short novella length
- A bit of a dark hero – he’s as assassin – the page count isn’t really high enough to fully develop this though
- I did mark it as full figured heroines – she’s described as “Full and generously rounded”, though again this isn’t a major point in the story.
My thoughts:
Overall I enjoyed this! This book came to me from the library and included the novella, author notes about the novella, author notes about the whole highlander series and get beginning work on the fever series, deleted scenes from Kiss of the Highlander, and the original beginning of The Dark Highlander before she scrapped it and started over.
The novella itself was fine. The hero was named Vengeance by the Unseelie king, and I’ll be honest I didn’t want to hear “I am Vengeance” ever again. But the book itself was a pleasant quick read. Of course I would have preferred one fully developed scene instead of the fade to black, but that’s okay. The sexiest part to me was the heroine’s writing, so not even something that was actually happening to the characters. (Though it was between them).
The hero really feels like an inexperienced virgin in this due to his amnesia. I found it especially hilarious when he compared his hard ons to a ‘rash’ he didn’t understand.
My favorite part of this though was the author notes. They were really fascinating and interesting to read. I loved learning more about her publishing process and the tug and pull between editors trying to fit books into popular genres of the time and what direction and author wants to take the story. It’s crazy how much push back she got over the paranormal elements of her stories because it wasn’t really an established genre back then. And look at how thriving the genre is now.
So, with that I have finally completely finished the Highlander series! It’s still some of my favorite books. I just adored the heroes here – they are totally my jam. A bit cocky and arrogant, but also super romantic and sweet. I love them. I’m going to take on the Fever series soon :)

I love KKM’s Highlander Series so I was excited to find this book.
I wasn’t exactly crazy about this one (I love all the others) but did not exactly hate it. No, let me get this right………….I liked it more than I thought I would….yes, there’s the sexy Highlander and the cute heroine, who has to stand on a stool to reach the hero’s face…a rather novel way to kiss a man!!!! Then there’s the cat she adopts…and how she manages to charm the whole village and naturally, in the end the hero as well. She saves him from the evil clutches of the Unseelie King....and we get more of the Fae Queen Aibhoil…..what a teaser for the Fever Series!!!!!
It’s a sweet story with two endearing characters – I love the name Jane Sillee….does it have something to do with Seelie!!!!!!!!!!! Pity it was such a short book.

OK...I know this was just supposed to hold me over until Iced is released later this year, but as usual I want more. I really liked Into the Dreaming and the deleted scenes from Kiss of a Highlander.
I am super glad she trashed the first version of Dark Highlander, because it was horrible. I guess my reaction is harsh because it is one of my favorites of her highlander series. I loved Daegus and Chloe in that book, and Elizabeth in this version was annoying and irritating. Good move, Karen, to scrap this and rewrite it!

Short quick and sweet. Just how I like it. Wish I had read this prior to her fever series. It gave you a little insight into the unseelie king.

A sweet story, short but sweet and I did enjoy it from about half way through the book. I found it a little slow and tedious at first, the writing didn't seem to be as in depth as the fantastic Highlander books.. and this saddened me a bit... however, it turned out nice.

hey, it only took me 5yrs to finish this series! A very short novella not worth the time in my opinion except for a couple lines about the Unseelie Dark King. Did Moning ever do a story about him because I'd sign up for that with freaking bells on?

I enjoyed it.
The Adult Intimate scenes are on the mild side, but they are still steamy.
It was definitely interesting and had some humorous moments.
Also some 'Clues' as to what is coming in the Fever series and what is going on with the Dark King and the Queen of Fae. In fact, I kind of suspected something like that was involved with them.
Now on to The Fever Series!
I enjoyed it.

This was interesting, not sure how it played into the rest of the series if I am being honest. If it was just Aedan being a Mackinnon or the fact the King and Queen have their own game going on, but it was still enjoyable.
Jane was persistent that is for dang sure.

Who doesn't love Karen Marie Moning's work?
Everyone of her novels are amazing. Always exciting, always enticing and always a hit.
At first I was like, "whoa, this womans whipped." Ha! But once I read his description, then I knew why. ;) As much as I liked Jane's character, being a sweet, kind and witty novelist, it was hard to compete with the best of the novel, Aedan MacKinnon.
Aedan is tough, but what he goes through is hard to imagine. I won't give away too much, because I love a good element of surprise. I can tell you that no matter the size and roughness of Aedan, not to mention the good looks, that he was too cute. There's an innocence in him, theres reasons for that, that I can't tell you, but theres a scene where he reads Janes novel that made me giddy.
Although this was a shorter novel than I hoped, it was more than worth the read. If you've already started on this series, than you have to add this one to the list. If you haven't read this series but want to see what it's all about, then check this novel out.

Moning's latest book is a collection of two novellas, a novel proposal, deleted scenes from one of her novels and excerpts from another of her books. The book is named after the first of the two novellas. I found Into The Dreaming a good read and true to form. The second novella is The Dark Highlander Lite and is about Dageus MacKeltar and Elisabeth Zander. As for myself, I prefer my Highlanders Dark. The rest of the book are intriguing sidebars.

Oh dear, this read like a fanfiction story. Not impressed at all. I wonder why in the whole world one would want to print this, after having published so many good stories?

In The Dreaming is a short novella by Karen Marie Moning. But for a novella, it was a good read. I would have loved to have seen it expanded into a full length novel but for what it is it was satisfying. I have the bonus material edition and it was great reading through that too.

Awe, the last Highlander book in this series.
This series was done as a buddy read with Vika and Sultan, (WHAT UP GIRLS, lol). This series alone completely made me re-think my dislike of historical romances and completely 100% turned us three girls into die-hard kilt loving girls. WOW, what a great series it was.
Now for starters if you haven't read the Fever series don't until you read this series first. I think it makes up a hell of a difference if you read this first you may understand things I may not have completely did reading The Fever series first.
This whole series was full of hot alpha kilt wearing heros, smart strong brave heroines, a little magic, some time travel, suspense, and some hot loving. I would recommend it to anyone.
Now, for this book alone the book starts out as Aedan making a deal with the devil basically. He makes a deal with the Unseelie King his life for five years for the safety of his family. What Aedan doesn't know is the five years were faery years which in mortal years is the same as 500 years stuck in the dark icy seelie prison. He is forced over time to forget every memory he has of his former life and trained to be the kings Vengeance.Once his inprisionment is complete he will be offered one month to find his soul mate or will be forced to serve the king for eternity. However the Seelie Queen is notified this is going on and decides to decieve the Unseelie King and place a spell so that in his dreams he will live out a life with his soul mate so that when the time comes that he is released for a month he will find her and will fall in love.
"Hold fast, MacKInnon, for I have found you the mate to your soul. She will warm you. She will love you above all others.
And all of this brings us to Jane. She is made for Aedan. She doesn't fit in with the present day at all. She is actually wrapped up in her head of reading romance novels and having a relationship with a man she has dreamed about since she was old enough to dream. She really only works because bills have to be paid. She is struggling to try to be a writer, writing books about the dreams she has had her entire life about her Highlander. When suddenly she receives a package in the mail of a tapestry with a picture of Aedan and his name stitched into it. She goes to sleep and wakes up in a different time butt naked outside next to a lake with a kitten.
Free him from his ice-borne hell. And in his century you both may dwell. In the Dreaming hast thou loved him, Now in the Waking must thou save him.
This begins the story. Aedan doesn't remember her and she has been given a month to "save him" for things she doesn't even know he needs to be saved from. This has been an incredible journey throughout this series. Like mentioned above I have fallen madly in love with Scotland and men in kilts. I am even now a little more tolerant to try reading historical romance, which has never been my thing but have found as I have went back in time with these hunky highlanders can be very stimulating. I must also note that there are more than one edition to this book, I think. One edition offers bonus material. I wasn't aware of that bonus material until after I had read this and may need to edit my review after I read it.

I really needed a full length novel, but man was this good! This is why I love Karen Marie Moning! She writes steamy magic!

If you’re a massive fan of Karen Marie Moning like I am, then you may have squeed upon hearing about this rerelease. I love KMM’s Fever series (I really do), but for some reason I enjoy her Highlander series more. I love the passion in them, the darkness and also the hot alpha men who grace the pages of these books.
In INTO THE DREAMING, we get another bonus hottie in Aeden. Jane, a modern- day romance writer and Aeden, a hot Scot fall in love in between realms called the Dreaming. When Jane is transported back in time to save Aeden from the Unseelie King, we really get a glimpse of the undying love they have for one another. For a short story, it’s great and give new readers a chance to see what KMM’s writing was like before. You seriously cannot go wrong with a KMM Scottish highlander.
After this, Karen writes a great piece about her time as a writer. It’s heartfelt and worth the read if you are interested in the inner thoughts of your favorite author.
Karen also gifts her fans with GHOST OF A CHANCE, a formal proposal of a book that was never written. It’s interesting and would make some readers wish this did get written because it does sound like an interesting book.
The next two sections are the ones I was most looking forward to. As a big fan of her MacKelter brothers, I was excited to read about the deleted scene from KISS OF THE HIGHLANDER and the Dark Highlander Lite version. These are just little treats for her fans and I think it’s great to see them all in one book.
There is also a teaser for Darkfever for highlander fans who haven’t read her Fever series yet. Also, there is about 10 pages or so about FEVERMOON, the graphic novel adaptation of her Fever series. I’m not quite sure that this part was worth it. It contains both black and white and colored pictures, but not enough for me to say, “Oh my god, I need this now.”
In the end, I enjoyed this. If you’re a KMM fan, you’ll want to check this out. Indulge in your Moning Maniac side.

Very interesting. Whimsical yet sensual, a dark yet hopeful journey for Aeden and Jane, laced with the right touch Fae magic.
I read this in the anthology Tapestry, and I think it is the better storytelling of the two others (books one and two) I've read in the Highlander series. I give it a solid 4.5 stars.
I hadn't thought to continue in the series, but I might reconsider. That little twist at the end between the Seelie Queen and the Unseelie King was a delight! So glad this gem was not missed.

Carissime fenici, quante di voi si ricordano i TIME TRAVEL sugli Highlander scritti dalla Moning, pubblicati dalla Leggereditore anni fa e interrotti a metà della serie? Purtroppo la casa editrice ha riservato spesso questo trattamento a diverse saghe, lasciando noi lettori con l’amaro in bocca, ma grazie al Sentiero delle Emozioni (blog di traduzioni amatoriali senza scopo di lucro) riusciamo a terminare le serie.
Dei volumi mai usciti in italiano abbiamo già fatto le recensioni, era rimasta fuori solo la novella Into the dream di cui parleremo oggi.
Vi avviso che la recensione contiene (seppur minimi) spoiler ( più che altro è la trama che come vedete non c’è ma è inglobata nella recensione) per chi non ha letto il libro in inglese, per cui se non li volete sapere vi consiglio di non proseguire.
Il racconto non è collegato ai precedenti se non per la presenza del Re Oscuro e della Regina Seelie. Infatti non c’è nessun riferimento ad Adam e agli altri protagonisti che abbiamo conosciuto, cosa che mi ha lasciato un pochino dispiaciuta perché sarei stata contenta di ”vederli” nuovamente.
Bando alle ciance e parliamo di questo piccolo gioiellino.
Composto da quindici capitoli (alcuni molto corti) più l’epilogo, è un racconto lungo per cui, benché lo stile narrativo sia rimasto invariato dagli altri, a volte lo svolgersi degli avvenimenti è molto rapido, in alcuni punti (no, non parlo solo delle scene d’amore😁, non capisco perché avete pensato questa cosa di me😂) è troppo veloce e avrei apprezzato qualche pagine in più.
La storia ha come protagonisti un bellissimo highlander, Aedan MacKinnon, figlio ed erede della principessa norrena Saucy Mary e di Findanus MacKinnon di Dun Haakon sull’isola di Skye, tenuto prigioniero dal Re Oscuro nel suo regno con una menzogna e usato come assassino, e una giovane scrittrice del nostro secolo, Jane Sillee.
Cosa hanno in comune? Si conoscono grazie alla Regina delle Fate che li fa fatti incontrare nel mondo dei sogni per farli innamorare e per salvare il giovane scozzese alla scadenza della sua prigionia: Aedan avrà un mese di tempo per incontrare il vero amore e poter essere libero dalla giogo del Re Oscuro. Se invece non lo troverà rimarrà per sempre al suo servizio. Come fa la nostra regina a far incontrare i due nella realtà? Facile: con un bel viaggio nel tempo compiuto dalla nostra Jane, che tornata nel Medioevo si trova di fronte l’uomo dei suoi sogni, quello di cui lei scrive sempre nei suoi romanzi rosa, la persona che le ha fatto raggiungere livelli di passione sfrenata… peccato che lui non la riconosca.
Riuscirà la nostra eroina a fare innamorare Aedan di lei nuovamente? Lo salverà? Non ve lo dico, però v’invito a fare un salto sul Sentiero Delle Emozioni dove potrete leggere l’intero racconto tradotto senza scopo di lucro e in maniera amatoriale dal fantastico staff del forum.
Come ho detto all’inizio di queste righe, io sono fan della Moning, per cui ho apprezzato molto il suo modo di scrivere, anche se non è ai livelli dei libri precedenti. Aedan è un Highlander tutto di un pezzo, simile ai protagonisti degli altri volumi, ma con meno spessore di Cian o di Adam (il mio personaggio preferito), mentre lei è una dei personaggi meglio riusciti di questa serie, in poche righe si dimostra una donna forte e determinata ma molto spiritosa e se avesse avuto tutto un libro tutto suo sarebbe stato meraviglioso. Non mi resta che augurarvi buona lettura.
Ricordate di farci sapere il vostro parere e soprattutto di scrivere due righe per lo staff del Sentiero per ringraziarlo del fantastico lavoro che fanno.

Carissime fenici, quante di voi si ricordano i TIME TRAVEL sugli Highlander scritti dalla Moning, pubblicati dalla Leggereditore anni fa e interrotti a metà della serie? Purtroppo la casa editrice ha riservato spesso questo trattamento a diverse saghe, lasciando noi lettori con l’amaro in bocca, ma grazie al Sentiero delle Emozioni (blog di traduzioni amatoriali senza scopo di lucro) riusciamo a terminare le serie.
Dei volumi mai usciti in italiano abbiamo già fatto le recensioni, era rimasta fuori solo la novella Into the dream di cui parleremo oggi.
Vi avviso che la recensione contiene (seppur minimi) spoiler ( più che altro è la trama che come vedete non c’è ma è inglobata nella recensione) per chi non ha letto il libro in inglese, per cui se non li volete sapere vi consiglio di non proseguire.
Il racconto non è collegato ai precedenti se non per la presenza del Re Oscuro e della Regina Seelie. Infatti non c’è nessun riferimento ad Adam e agli altri protagonisti che abbiamo conosciuto, cosa che mi ha lasciato un pochino dispiaciuta perché sarei stata contenta di ”vederli” nuovamente.
Bando alle ciance e parliamo di questo piccolo gioiellino.
Composto da quindici capitoli (alcuni molto corti) più l’epilogo, è un racconto lungo per cui, benché lo stile narrativo sia rimasto invariato dagli altri, a volte lo svolgersi degli avvenimenti è molto rapido, in alcuni punti (no, non parlo solo delle scene d’amore😁, non capisco perché avete pensato questa cosa di me😂) è troppo veloce e avrei apprezzato qualche pagine in più.
La storia ha come protagonisti un bellissimo highlander, Aedan MacKinnon, figlio ed erede della principessa norrena Saucy Mary e di Findanus MacKinnon di Dun Haakon sull’isola di Skye, tenuto prigioniero dal Re Oscuro nel suo regno con una menzogna e usato come assassino, e una giovane scrittrice del nostro secolo, Jane Sillee.
Cosa hanno in comune? Si conoscono grazie alla Regina delle Fate che li fa fatti incontrare nel mondo dei sogni per farli innamorare e per salvare il giovane scozzese alla scadenza della sua prigionia: Aedan avrà un mese di tempo per incontrare il vero amore e poter essere libero dalla giogo del Re Oscuro. Se invece non lo troverà rimarrà per sempre al suo servizio. Come fa la nostra regina a far incontrare i due nella realtà?
