How clean is this? Is it dark or smutty?

Gingerbug112 No smut, I believe it’s YA. They’re is some dark themes like murder and such, but nothing too out of the ordinary for a fantasy magic setting.

Can a 12 year old read this book? I’m fine with violence/gore and swearing but is there any smut? And a continuation of that question is that in the other books of the series does the romance get more intimate or are the rest of the books the same as the first?
