Tara Swiger is the author of Market Yourself, a system for creating a marketing plan for your craft business, and Map Your Business, a goal-planner and workbook.
She began her entrepreneurial journey as a yarn-maker, and quit her day job in 2009 to be a full-time maker. She has been writing and teaching about handmade business for over 10 years, via (free) weekly lessons (sign up at http://taraswiger.com/list ), her weekly podcast, and in-person and on-line courses. Her superpower is translating complex business principles into the language of artists and makers and turning theory into doable Action Plans.

Tara’s taught marketing and business growth to traditional artists in rural North Carolina with the non-profit Handmade in America, to ya

BIG UPDATE! What’s going on in my life and the podcast

Remember how, in the last episode, I said I was coming back to weekly episodes?

Yeah, the very same week, DCS called to ask if our girls (who were with us for 6 months of 2019) could come back to our house…with their 7 month old baby sister. We didn't hesitate! OF COURSE!

So…I went from one newborn to four kids, overnight. I have a (now) 4 month old, 9 month old, 3 year old and 4 year old. Needless

L.M. Montgomery
“Oh, it's delightful to have ambitions. I'm so glad I have such a lot. And there never seems to be any end to them-- that's the best of it. Just as soon as you attain to one ambition you see another one glittering higher up still. It does make life so interesting.”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

L.M. Montgomery
“You may tire of reality but you never tire of dreams.”
Lucy Maud Montgomery, The Road to Yesterday

L.M. Montgomery
“Well, it all comes to this; there's no use trying to live in other people's opinions. The only thing to do is to live in your own. After all, I believe in myself. I'm not so bad and silly as they think me, and I'm not consumptive, and I can write. Now that I've written it all out I feel differently about it. The only thing that still aggravates me is that Miss Potter pitied me -- pitied by a Potter!”
L.M. Montgomery, Emily Climbs

Neil Gaiman
“I've been making a list of the things they don't teach you at school. They don't teach you how to love somebody. They don't teach you how to be famous. They don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing.”
Neil Gaiman, The Sandman, Vol. 9: The Kindly Ones

Alan Moore
“My experience of life is that it is not divided up into genres; it’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you're lucky.”
Alan Moore
