Laura Wolfe Hi Darla! Thank you so much for the message! I hope you enjoy some of my other books too. I have just recently started writing my next novel, which will also be a psychological thriller published by Bookouture, coming October 2023. Thanks again for reaching out, and happy reading!

Laura Wolfe Hi Terry -- Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. There is a second book in the series (Barn Shadows) that just came out in March. Here is the link to the series on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/bookseries/...
Happy Reading!
Laura Wolfe Hi Robert! Thank you for the question. I have quite a few mysteries in my own life right now...but this one might make the best story. We live in a sub with large lots/yards. In the warmer months, the older man who owns the house behind us cuts his grass and does other yard work every week after 11pm in the dark of night. Why? I have no idea. He is retired and has all day to do it. My husband and I have many (dark) theories about his odd behavior. Is he hiding something? Digging a hole? Is a he vampire? Maybe he can't sleep for some reason? There's got to be a story there somewhere!
Laura Wolfe Thanks for the question, Matthew. I heard a long time ago that you should write the book that you want to read. I've always enjoyed reading well-written, fast-paced books that keep the reader guessing until the end. So it wasn't a big surprise when I set out to write in a similar genre. When writing this type of book, I love to figure out how to keep readers wanting more. My favorite things to do are to end each chapter with a cliffhanger and to lead readers down one path only to surprise them with a different, yet logical, ending. It is a challenge, but one that brings satisfaction in the end--like putting the last piece into a very difficult puzzle.
Laura Wolfe Great question! I generally think of the plot first and then create different characters who would bring the most (conflict, passion, drive, etc.) to the story. The setting seems to fall naturally into place as it is usually intertwined with the plot. In my books, the setting often ends up being one of the most important parts of the story.
Laura Wolfe Thanks for your question, Christina! I didn't think up a story for a particular market. Horses are a big part of my life, so it was natural for me to write a novel involving horses and riding. I had the story in my head--set at a summer horse camp--and realized it would fit nicely with the YA crowd, hopefully, with some adult crossover appeal. The novel I'm working on now also involves horses, but is intended for the adult market.
Laura Wolfe I'm currently spending most of my time marketing Trail of Secrets! I didn't realize how much time and energy marketing a new book can take.

As far as writing goes, I am 90% finished with my second novel. It is a thriller for adults set against the backdrop of the cutthroat world of Chicago real estate. I'm excited to complete it! After that, I'll start writing the sequel to Trail of Secrets. If only there were more hours in the day...
