A closer view of the business end of the harvesting machine NT3535 : Forest harvester. The chain saw is within the housing on the left, part of the arms that grip the trunk are to the right, next to one of the toothed drums that move the trunk the required amount to be cut to length. The pipes supply the hydraulic arms and motors from a pump driven by a separate engine in the vehicle body. A video clip at LinkExternal link shows a similar device in action.

Once cut, the logs are collected and brought out by the forwarder NT3534 : Forest forwarder.
