: Garage at the Bauds of Cullen on the A98. by Des Colhoun Garage at the Bauds of Cullen on the A98.
: Woodside by Anne Burgess Woodside
Fields near Woodside, with the whins (gorse) still in flower in February.
: Sheds by Anne Burgess Sheds
These concrete buildings look rather incongruous. They are being reclaimed by nature.
: Glade in the Forest by Anne Burgess Glade in the Forest
The glade won't last many years more, because it has been planted with deciduous trees.
: Forest Gloom by Anne Burgess Forest Gloom
The foresters have carved out a series of gorge-like gaps among the densely packed Sitka Spruce.
: Extraction Road by Anne Burgess Extraction Road
This and several parallel gaps have been cut with mathematical precision, no doubt a prelude to felling the lot.
: Northern Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza purpurella) by Anne Burgess Northern Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza purpurella)
Probably! It's a seedhead of one of last year's flowers. Definitely an orchid but can't be 100% sure of the species.
: Park near Robber's Wood by Anne Burgess Park near Robber's Wood
In the north-east of Scotland, the word park is used for a field. Robber's Wood is at the far side of this park, where young green shoots are just beginning to appear. On the skyline is the Bin of Cullen.
: Fungus on a Dead Tree by Anne Burgess Fungus on a Dead Tree
I have no idea what species of fungus this is.
: Sheep near Gordon's Hillock by Anne Burgess Sheep near Gordon's Hillock
I wish I could include the sound of a large flock of ewes and lambs at full volume! The Hill of Maud is in the distance. Nothing to do with the village of Maud in Aberdeenshire, of course.
: Ivy on Bark by Anne Burgess Ivy on Bark
These ivy leaves are of an unusual shape. Much more decorative than standard ivy.
