Brigitte Hobmeier, born in Munich in 1976, became a cast member of Peter Stein"s ensemble when she was still studying at the Folkwang Academy for music, theatre, and dance. During the "Faust" marathon at Expo 2000 in Hannover, she proved her versatility when she performed in 16 different roles. She then became a cast member at Munich"s Volkstheater from 2002 to 2005 and won several awards, including the Bavarian promotional award for performing arts. Since 2005, Hobmeier is a cast member at Munich"s Kammerspiele and has performed in a stage adaptation of Fassbinder"s "Die Ehe der Maria Braun" ("The Marriage of Maria Braun") and in Chekhov"s "The Cherry Orchard", among other productions.
Hobmeier made her movie debut already in 2001 in a leading role in the TV drama "Stiller Sturm" ("Silent Storm"). She then made a memorale performance as a young woman, who in a fatal game appropriates different identities and tries to banish her own void, in Sören Voigt"s "Identity Kills". Although Hobmeier is still mainly working at the theatre, she starred in three striking roles during the movie season 2006/07: in Hans Steinbichler"s "Winterreise" ("Winter Journey"), in the drama "Nichts als Gespenster" ("Nothing But Ghosts") by Martin Gypkens, and in Christian Frosch"s thriller "Weisse Lilien" ("Silent Resident"), that premiered at the 2007 Toronto film festival.
