About this ebook

What's your favorite dinosaur?

That's what the most handsome man I'd ever seen in my life asked me. And it only got weirder from there.

Everyone acts like I should know who this guy is, but for the life of me…I have no clue. He honestly seems like a sweet, kind of weird dude. So why is the entire town acting like he's some kind of celebrity?

But that's not even the most bizarre part of all of this. No, the strangest thing is that I really, really like him. Like…forever kind of like him.

Is this fate? Or is it totally crazy?

    Chapter One

    ~Bonnie Sharpe~

Can I get one of those, please? I asked the vendor, pointing at the bag of multi-colored cotton candy the man next to me had just accepted.

I’m sorry, that’s the last one, the vendor answered with a shrug. Can I get you something else?

I tried not to let my disappointment show. The adorable, bright spun sugar bag with the unicorn adorning the front had looked so fun. Sure, it was all the same really, but I’d wanted one of my own.

    No, I said. Thanks though.

I gave a small smile to the man who had made away with my prize, then turned to find something else that would hold my attention.

Coming to this small-town fair had been a spur of the moment decision. I was visiting my sister for the weekend and didn’t even know the event was going on. She and her husband were running around, chasing after my nephew, and I’d been wandering on my own for an hour already.

You can have it, the man offered, jogging up next to me and holding out the bag toward me.

Don’t be silly, I insisted. There’s plenty of other options around here.

It does look more like a food truck rally than a fair, doesn’t it? he mused, looking around the grounds. Wanna share?

I glanced over at him, confused. He was incredibly handsome, probably in his mid-twenties, wearing khakis and a button-down shirt. His curly, brown hair was wild, as if he’d just run his fingers through it when he’d crawled out of bed and called it good. But his dark brown eyes looked kind, and his smile seemed genuine.

I’m not supposed to take candy from strangers, I answered finally.

What if I take you back to my panel van?

Creepy. I crossed my arms over my chest even as I fought not to laugh. I appreciate the offer, but I should really get going.

I’m Dylan, he said quickly, holding his hand out to shake mine.

Bonnie. I clasped his palm with mine for a moment.

There, not strangers anymore. He gestured with his head toward a bench at the edge of the fair. Come on, I won’t bite.

Even knowing that this was how predators behaved, I walked with him and sat down. There were hundreds of people milling around us. If he wanted to abduct me, it would be difficult to lure me away from the crowds.

And as horrified as I was to admit it to myself…he really was handsome.

Dylan unsealed the bag and offered me the first pull. I dug a chunk of cotton candy from the bag and popped a piece in my mouth, letting the sugar melt over my tongue as I scanned the crowd around us.

So, he said after a minute. What’s your favorite dinosaur?

Are you a crazy person? I asked, turning to stare at him.

Aren’t we all? He shrugged. I think you can tell more about someone by their favorite dinosaur than by their sign or occupation. So?

    Velociraptor, I answered.

Interesting. His gaze raked over my face. Violent.

Maybe I’m just a clever girl, I said, my lips curling up into a smile. What about you?

    Megalodon, he said instantly.

That’s a shark, I argued. They didn’t exist at the same time as dinosaurs.

And that’s how you figure people out by their dinosaurs, he said, his tone amused. You are a clever girl.

So, you weed out women by their prehistoric knowledge?

It’s one of many ways, he said seriously. And I’m not hitting on you.

    Never said you were.

What in the hell was going on right now? He was, actually, hitting on me. And I was absolutely flirting back. Though, it seemed we were both terrible at it. Personally, I had zero experience with men, so it wasn’t a skill I’d cultivated. But this guy was straight up gorgeous. Like surface of the sun hot. And he’d reeled me in with candy and dinosaurs before I’d even realized it was happening.

So, what’s your favorite episode? he asked, breaking off another chunk of candy and handing it to me.

I felt my brows furrow in confusion at the question. What the hell did he mean?

Of like…any show ever? I clarified. Uh, probably the Golden Girls episode where Rose inherits the pig and the girls make her get rid of it.

He stared at me, like I was the one in this scenario bordering on insanity.

Or maybe the Big Wheel of Cheese episode of the West Wing, I suggested. If Golden Girls is too low brow for you.

You have no idea who I am, do you? he asked, his expression clearly startled.

    Okay.

    Seriously.

    What the hell
