TUESDAY

‘EXTRA, EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! CIRCUS COMING TO TOWN AND THERE’S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!’

‘Since when have we had newspapers in the Overworld?’ I asked Creepy as we headed down the street towards school.

‘Dunno, but did you hear that?! A circus!’ Creepy flipped the newspaper mob a Coin and grabbed one off him.

‘Look! Boogeyman’s Big Top is coming to town. This circus has received RAVE REVIEWS and is sure to be a hit!’ Creepy read aloud. ‘Man, I love the circus.’

‘I didn’t know you’d been to a circus before,’ I said.

‘I haven’t. I just love the idea of a circus. I’d love to be in one someday.’

‘I dunno. Maybe I’ll JUGGLE...’

I paused. ‘Creepy, you don’t have arms. How will you juggle?’

‘HSSS. You’d be surprised how good I am with my feet!’

Wesley’s babysitter popped out of the living room. ‘Oh good, you’re home. I’m off then.’ And she dashed past me out the door.

Weird. Why was the sitter here when Mom was off work? I shrugged. It had been a long, hard day at school and my PEA-SIZED brain was tired. It needed a snack.

I headed towards the kitchen. ‘Moooooooooooom! Is there cake?’

No reply.

‘MUUUUUUUM!!’

Still nothing.

Then I heard a soft moan.

I followed the noise to
