Section 2 delves into the history of defining terrorism, tracing the evolution of the term and its changing meanings over time. Section 3 adopts a psychological perspective, examining the role of fear in terrorism and exploring the psychology of terror. Section 4 investigates the grey area of political violence, discussing the spectrum of political violence and defining terrorism within this context. Section 5 focuses on the lens of actions, examining the concept of the terrorist act, international conventions and protocols, and the advantages and limitations of focusing on the terrorist act. Section 6 scrutinizes the terrorist label, its origin, use, and misuse, as well as the challenges and potential pitfalls associated with this label. Section 7 goes beyond stereotypes to investigate the diversity of terrorist characteristics, the challenges in defining terrorism, and the role of context in understanding terrorism.
