Today, there are few practical restraints on slave owners, and the trafficking of women and girls for sexual exploitation has actually worsened since the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe and Indochina.

      Naina and Vivek were enslaved in a brothel in India, and their parents never came to get them. They were beaten, starved, and abused, but they never went to school and were rarely allowed out.
