    Each and every year, the Hope for Ethiopia team at Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle, Belfast, travel to Ethiopia for fellowship with our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

    They also bring presents for all the children there, which are, in all likelihood, the only gifts any of the children will receive this year. I had the great privilege of tagging along on the most recent trip and witnessed firsthand the magnificent work the team carried out.

    It was while on this trip that these words were given to me, which makes this poem just that little bit special:

    We thank you, our Lord Jesus, for your travelling mercies sent,
    And how we felt your presence everywhere we went.
    We place our faith and trust in you for the remainder of our stay,
    Praying we bring joy to you in all we do and say.

    As we gather here together, after several thousand miles,
    Taking so much comfort from the children and their smiles.
    So thankful we were able to hear your words and heed,
    And give a little something back to comfort those in need.

    The days have passed so quickly, and soon we travel home,
    But we will not forget this trip no matter where we roam.
    Friendships were established, as we worked with common aim,
    And with God's grace, in twelve moths time, we'll do it all again.


    All proceeds from the sale of these books will go to Hope for Ethiopia.

    On the 19th February, in the Year Of Our Lord 2017. I raised my hand at a church service help at Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle Belfast. On that day my life saw enrichment I never believed possible. My character was that of a completely new person. Whereas I had minimal ambition, I had been given an eagerness to welcome the gift of each new day. Another 24 hours to savour the blessings he showered upon me. Did my life become less stressful?…..Not in the least, but I had been given the strength to deal with, and overcome with every situation I encountered. Where there was hate, now there was love, Where there was anger, now there dwelt peace, Where revenge festered, now was forgiveness. These traits would never have manifested in me had I not found my Saviour. But Better was yet to come. On the 9th August in the same year, I had, by far, the best experience of my life when I walked through the Waters Of Baptism and experienced the Joy Of Rebirth. The poems in this book are but a small token of thanks to the one who gave me Renewal, to the friends who encouraged me to record them and to the Holy Ghost, who supplied me with the missing words, when needed, to complete each poem. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them, and I pray that the Lord will come to you, as he came to me, when I needed him most……...Bobbie Greer.

      FORGIVE

      Forgiveness is a virtue, so never hold a grudge,

      Like a stone your wearing round your neck, it’s difficult to budge.

      Someone may have wronged you, but the pasts already gone,

      So put what’s done behind you, and start to carry on.

      Let forgiveness flourish, like a bird that’s taken flight,

      Never seek to gain revenge, two wrongs don’t make a right.

      Take comfort from the very fact, That Jesus forgave you,

      Follow his example, for you can do it too.

      He took his place upon that cross, that every man could win,

      He took away from all of us, a catalogue of sin.

      I know that no-ones perfect, and we’re sinning every day,

      But try to do as Jesus did, and that stone will roll away……Amen

      GLORY

      As I looked across the railway tracks, a train came into view,

      And it pulled up at the platform, at the moment it was due.

      I searched in all my pockets, until a ticket there I found.

      admittance to one person on the train that’s Glory bound

      There were several other passengers, waiting there as well,

      All excited, just like me, as anyone could tell,

      We climbed into the carriages, as the last one left the ground,

      Then we started slowly moving, on the train that’s Glory bound.

      And as we gathered speed, we found, an unexpected treat,

      To our surprise a Bible, had been placed on every seat,

      We read in total silence, not a solitary sound,

      As we raced along the tracks, at speed, on the train that’s Glory bound.

      As we all pulled into the only stop, our train would make today,

      We’d reached our destination, with no stops along the way,

      And all along the platform, rows of Angels could be found,

      As we all arrived in Heaven, on the train that’s Glory bound……..Amen

      KING

      Emperor, President, Prime Minister or King,

      Impressive titles gave to men, that don’t mean anything.

      They only seem to tower above, because we’re on our knees,

      But there’s one who’s name, without a doubt, eclipses all of these.

      The one who I’m referring to, created all the Earth,

      He gives me strength, he gives me hope, he gave me second birth.

      While all of those I mention, their times will come and go,

      His reign will last forever, The God I’ve come to know.

      So make the most of what you have, all those of you in power.

      Jesus Christ is coming back, though no-one knows the hour,

      But the signs are all significant, so Glorify his name.

      The King will soon be home again, His Kingdom to reclaim….Amen

      BOOKS

      What a wondrous book The Bible is, in every single way,

      I open up it’s pages and I read it every day.

      It makes me glad to realise, that every word is true,

      So I thought that I would recommend some chapters just for you.

      You should really start with Genesis, that’s where it all began,

      Exodus will tell you, how God gave the Promised Land.

      There are chapters named like women, Esther, Jude and Ruth,

      And every chapter there contained, is nothing but the truth.

      You must read the book of Daniel, if you want to learn to pray,

      And then there’s Deuteronomy the hardest one to say.

      Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Gospels there were four,

      First and Second Samuel, if you want to read some more.

      You can read of a conversion, how a servant named as Paul,

      Who most profess to be the greatest prophet of them all.

      The book of Numbers, rightly named, because of all it’s facts,

      Jonah Micah Nahum and then the Book Of Acts.

      There’s Obadiah, Jeremiah, and John there’s one two three,

      Lamentations, Revelation, all for you to see.

      So many other Chapters, I could easily recall,

      So start at the beginning, until you’ve read it all…….Amen

      SAVINGS

      Are you happy that you bank account, contains so many noughts,

      Are stocks and shares and interest rates, forever in your thoughts.

      Is it riches you are seeking, a fortune that you want,

      You may long to take it with you, do you realise you can’t

      I am building treasure, in the place that’s yet to come,

      My banker’s name is Jesus, and I’ve raised a pretty sum.

      He doesn’t send a statement, For that is not his way,

      As my love for him intensifies, it increases every day.

      He opened my account for me, at a place called Calvary,

      My very first deposit, he paid it there for me.

      And once I gave my heart to him, my reward did multiply,

      And I will go on loving him, until the day I die.

      So throw away your worries, I’m sure you’ve all
