Heart's Song: The Whispers of My Heart
()
About this ebook
Heart's Song is about my life and loves and the many seasons and reasons behind every emotion. There is pain as much as celebration. There is rain and then there is the sun peeking out behind the clouds. I share my Heart's Song....Whispers of The Heart with you and hope it reminds you of the seasons of your heart.

Note Of Gratitude
These poems are a flowering from my heart. The heart has its seasons and every season has a reason behind it. I have given voice to my heart through the verses that flowed in the moment. Heart’s Song: Whispers Of My Heart is not a traditional poetry book where the verses only describe beautiful things. Yes, there are many beautiful things, but there is also darkness as much as there is light at the end of it all. I present to you the voice of my heart and I hope you will enjoy it. May my Heart’s Song echo in your heart.
My gratitude to the universe for allowing me to be a channel of these poems….
To my sister Leena Manisha A. Sawlani for her tireless efforts with this book and for being such a nurturing sister.
To my niece Neelam, who is actually a dearly loved daughter to me, for the artwork of the cover page. Thank you for all your tireless efforts in coming up with this design.
To my beloved mother, Indira Duru Sadhwani, for birthing me into this blessed life.
And finally to all those who came and stayed, as well as those who left with a piece of my heart. Thank you for showing me I can and will survive.
Dedication
For Babu, the cherished dream come true.
A Battle For Life
I watch the tiny drops
As they fall into the chamber
Without a noise
As they line up to fall
In this vast noisy hall
I lay on my back
Sore all over my joints crack
Being sick is not a knack
That I would wish upon
Another heart
Being ill breaks my heart
The seasons come and go
So do the people I know
Some moved on to another view
Some couldn’t stay
Just like you
There are weddings, and births
And deaths
There are sighs of bated breaths
Exhaling their relief
This pain isn’t their grief
I lie looking at the ceiling
Swirls of drowsy and
A hundred feelings
Each one saying I wish I were
Like you
Living a life that wasn’t blue
The jabs and the pricks
The smell of phenyl
Makes me sick
The nurse in spotless white
Offering me fifty pills
Morning, noon and night
In this way have passed
The years
So many fallen tears
That could not implore
God
To change the fates
And my cot
So here I must lie
Until the breaths leave
And I die
This is life for me
Waiting for my destiny
They will come and take me
Home
When my eyes close
And I float unknown
Then a sliver of sunshine
Will kiss my haunted lips
When my hands unclasp their tight
Grips
On a life of incessant pain
A life under the rain
You stand a foot away
So near yet light years away
You get to live
While I have nothing left to give
In this battle for the breath
In the shadows of death
A Birthday Poem
I cross a bridge
That I never thought I would
A bridge
I never thought I could
And realize
There is nothing in
The night to fear
That isn’t in there
In the day my dear
I tell my heart
To hold on
And not fall apart
It’s only the winds
Of change that blow
Little heart
Don’t you know
There’s a God
Who loves you so
It matters little
Who left you alone
Or who made you cry
In the end
His wisdom knows why
I cross a bridge
That I never thought I would
A bridge
I never thought I could
The miles have been long
And all I have
Is a little song
Of love and goodness
The myriad sights
Of life’s wholesomeness
I crossed rivers that were dry
And saw some sights
That made me cry
I walked the deserts at night
I walked on
In the dimmest light
From the distant stars
And the moon
That eventually made way
For the morn
It’s been quite a journey
One that’s passed
All too soon
I stand at the gates
Ready to embrace
My light
A Brave Heart
Your eyes overflow with tears
And yet you
Scatter smiles
Along the many miles
Life is vexed with you
And yet
You give your heart away
As if I was another you
The wounds seem raw
As you lay on this bed of straw
But still
You give away your love
Are you an angel from above
Once before you had dreams
Now the shadows are all you have
It seems
And yet
You speak of the light
Trusting there will be dawn
After a long night
You’ve knocked on many
Unopened doors
The silence knocking your heart
To the floor
And yet
You gently embrace
The stark, solitary face
You hold it in your hands
And give a name
To this barren land
You sought to belong
Within the circle of love
You stood out alone
And yet
You thanked the heavens above
Knowing
The heart is your refuge
In a life that spins
Like a centrifuge
A Broken Heart
The heart shatters
Like all things after a batter
Like glass
The eyes leak
Not as sign of one who is weak
But for dreams that died
They died
And lay like autumn leaves
In the garden of the heart
That grieves
The heart shatters
Like glass
Fallen to the floor
It isn’t one anymore
But a million little pieces
That reflect a million surceases
And sighs
When hearts shatter
And roses cry
Fly away o fly away
This home wasn’t meant
For you in anyway
This vale of tears
Dark, dark hearts
that beat to fear
Between the fates and destiny
There is a story
Of you and me
The heart shatters
Like all things
After a batter
Like broken shards of glass
Like time stolen
From a broken hourglass
A Broken Promise
A promise broken
A word stolen
Shake the heart
Until it falls apart
Why did you lie
And say there won’t
Be good bye
A broken promise
Brings rain to my eye
It darkens the blue sky
And turns summer
Into frozen lakes of ice
Perhaps this is the price
Of believing there won’t
Be goodbyes
It isn’t you who leaves
This time
But still my heart grieves
Because I am the one
Who must go
I am the one who
Doesn’t know
Why I must close my eyes
And fall asleep
Why are there promises
One can’t keep
The tea-lights burn
The mantras churn
As I lay supine
On a bed made of pine
Sometimes the willows must weep
In the face of promises
Destiny won’t let you keep
A Chameleon Life
What is this place
You brought me to
Life, your face
It shows me a multitude
Of hues
Why do you seem
Like a stranger to me
Each time an interlude
Comes to be
You pull away
And I wonder who or what
Will come my way
After you leave my side
What comes next on this ride
Beyond the distance
To where my eyes can see
I wonder is there someone
Who anticipates for me
And pines with an ache
That only life can take
Life
You show me your face
Of a multitude hues
And then pull away
To leave me thirsty
And blue
Why isn’t it enough to be happy
And why isn’t there a limit
To pain
You kiss my lips
Only to part again
Life
What is this place
You brought me to
You reveal a different hue
With the passing of each breath
Only to pull away
And estrange me from you
When I move close
To your warm embrace
Oh life
You never show
Your fair face
A Changed Love
I turn to look
Into your eyes
You avert
The gaze
That held mine
Tears fill my eyes
And my heart
Is filled with why’s
I turn to plant a kiss
On your soft baby cheek
You cringe and pull away
From the love
You used to seek
With excitement and joy
Oh what happened
My little angel boy
The flowers that you
Gave me
Have wilted a little
Too soon
Beneath the light
Of a crescent moon
Have the bright
City lights claimed
Your soul
Like cracked glass
That cannot be made
Whole
I see my heart
Reflect in the shards of glass
I am alone in the hundred
Pieces
As I was
when it was whole
Am I destiny’s fool?
A Cherry Blossom Bye
The cherry blossom is
In bloom
I sit beneath it
Under the moon
Perhaps for the final time
As I take your leave
As I take memories that
Are only mine
The cherry blossom tree
Covers me
With its divinity
Like a last embrace
As I turn and trace
My footsteps away
From you and home
Away from all that I’ve known
Laughter and mirth
Rend the air
Dotting the stillness
With little care
I wonder when I will
Return
Will I ever learn
The cherry blossom visits
Once a year
And leaves behind
The memory of a
Beauty that endear
The heart. The soul
For a while making it whole
And then it leaves
Turning brown
green summer leaves
The Cherry blossom
Is in full bloom
As I head to the airport
Too soon
It covers the ground with color
A present to the lover
Of beauty and grace
A handsome chiseled face
A Dance Through Life
I dance through this life
Amidst the strains of strife
It is a dance of peace
Where all wars come to cease
I dance through the summer rain
Through nights of endless pain
I dance with my heart
Renouncing all that tears
It apart
I dance to heal
The endless spin of the broken wheel
Inside me is a void
That I witness and cannot avoid
And yet I find surcease
When my heartbeats increase
Yes
