About this ebook

R. Keith is the author of over twenty collections of poetry, fiction and vispo. Beginning in late 2018 he published one book each month for a year.

Latest releases include the novelette HONEYDEW (Dumpter Fire Press), PLAY DUMB, a short story collection (Dumpster Fire Press) and the poetry collections nadir of sitting duck and ok quiet (Dimensionfold Publishing). His visual art has been presented in galleries in Canada, Malta and Russia.

This collection of short fiction straddles the boundary between short fiction and... something different perhaps. It is tragic, chaotic, and hilarious. It is low-brow high-art. It dares you to think differently or to stop thinking entirely.

I forgot to look for Don Quixote

    Rich People Dirt

Around three in the morning, Uncle Milton woke me up and took me across the street to the neighbour’s garden. We loaded a wheel barrel full of neighbour's dirt. Uncle Milton said These neighbours have the biggest house for blocks, so they got money to spend on good dirt.

We went back to my parent's house and dumped the Rich People Dirt in the back yard. Uncle Milton then took out a bag of bird seed and told me to grab two fistfuls and plant them in the Rich People Dirt.

Uncle Milton said he was hoping for Emus or Condors.

    Knock knock

A couple of women walked past me today and I heard one say I answered the door in my underwear. I wondered what the door in this woman's underwear would look like. What was on the other side of the door in her underwear? Possibly just an annoying solicitor. I haven't seen many pairs of women's underwear to be honest, but I don't recall them having doors. They could be trap doors. Are there secret knocks to get an answer? There must be some underground system linking all these doors to each other. Where could you buy a map for this?
