Introduction

Something odd has been going on with the modern church. Apparently, we’ve been slowly falling into a deep state of spiritual lukewarmness. The modern man rarely nourishes the desire for a true and free intimacy with the Father. We can clearly notice a growing distance between man and God.
This fact should scare us. A couple thousand years ago, In Jerusalem, people witnessed a terrible sacrifice in favor of God’s children. Jesus, dilacerated and humiliated, agonized at the cross. That pure sacrifice has paid for the sins that tainted our garments.
The curtain that separated man from God was ripped, top to bottom. Maybe you don’t know the ancient history of the Hebrews. In those times, the true presence of God was a very rare event. Just one time each year, the high priest of the Hebrew people¹ entered the Holy of Holies, a exclusive room for the contact between the man and the Lord. There, God manifested himself before the man, heard the high priest’s clamors in favor of the Hebrews and gave his instructions (not necessarily in this order).
If the high priest entered in the presence of the Father in a state of a sinful life, he was consumed. That’s right, he was set on fire. The man, tainted by iniquity, was incapable of standing in front of the inefable glory of God. That relationship was blurred, incomplete, remained that way until Jesus’ sacrifice at the cross.
And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split.
Matthew 27:50,51
Jesus was the bridge that linked us to God again. The curtain was ripped and now we have free access to the Lord, constantly and freely. Clearly, I don’t want to confuse liberty with license. The reverence remains, after all, God is still the King of all kings, and the Lord of all lords. That fact is immutable.
Despite that, getting back to our
