About this ebook
From Sean Cashman and Jarrod Passmore comes the first in a series of short stories, set in the world of the Sins of the Seven. Before, there were those who were forgotten. Darkness had come for the blacksmith, and it took no prisoners. Follow a simple man, a blacksmith, whose life has been poisoned by the ghosts of his past. With each breath, he struggles to keep them shackled inside, until all is quiet. In the dark of night, deep within the great city of iron, he lets his memories take him. He remembers everything. Everything that once was, and everything that would never be again. Everything that he was, and everything that he would become, a peaceful man who lost everything in the blink of an eye. Now, those who crossed him will know his wrath. In the fires of loss, we forge ourselves.

I'm an author from Perth Western Australia, currently working on my debut novel with my good friend Jarrod Passmore. The novel has been in the works for several years, and in the meantime we are releasing a series of short stories to give readers some lore regarding our main novel, and to build a readerbase before releasing our main work.

For our younger selves, who are still right where we left them, waiting patiently.
Memories to a broken man are like meals to a soldier. They must be carefully rationed out. They must be sheltered from greed, for that is the bane of any man, let alone one whose mind is brimming with the pain of a plan gone astray. The sight of an empty mess-tin is far kinder on the eyes than that of a time long passed – a smile long forgotten. For if a soldier lives by his stomach, he will simply grow hungry. If a broken man lives by his past, he will grow hollow.
Unfortunately, this cannot be taught.
Only felt.

It was winter, only a few hours past sundown, and the dark was all too eager to shed what little warmth of the day still lingered in the air. A blanket of clouds returned to the city that evening, and for the second time, washed the streets clean
