This poem is dedicated in loving memory of our friend Leah Dawn Hanson who was sweet and loving.
Too Young To Die
There must be a reason why
That she had to die.
Though she was so young
Her praises could be sung.
Oh, she was so sweet,
The kind of kid you want to meet.
Not too long ago we talked into the night,
About our God and what was wrong and what was right.
She lived her life as we all should do,
Taking each day as it came straight through.
Her life was not all peaches and cream,
But oh how she could dream.
She was shoved from pillar to post,
With never a permanent host.
But God saw fit to take her away
From those who didn’t appreciate her anyway.
She was young in age, but old in many ways.
Seeing too much of life in her young days,
And if I could see her face to face this is what she would say,
"it’s okay, at least I have a permanent place to stay,
And when your day is over and your race is won,
You can come to see me through the Father and his Son.
And don’t regret the things you did or did not do or say,
For you must know that I loved you anyway!"
Hearts Don’t Forget
Sometimes our minds may wander
And are bodies aren’t too fit
But one thing you can count on
Hearts don’t forget
Names we can’t always remember
Til someone mentions it
Then we say Oh, yeah! Now I remember it.
But the face our heart never did forget
Names seldom come to mind
Faces often do
That’s when you know for sure
Your heart felt it too
We have a lot of memories
But times and dates are vague
You remember what you were doing with the face
Cause your heart won’t let you forget
Our minds can be like cloudy days
When things aren’t too clear
But once the sun comes out
Our hearts begin to cheer
Sometimes years go by
Before we see someone again
It doesn’t seem to matter much
They are just as precious as they have always been.
Grandpa’s Girl
She’s the sparkle in his eye
She’s the sun in his sky
If he could save her life
Then he would gladly die.
She has captured his heart
She was so tiny at the start
He loved her even then
And knew they would never part.
It is special too
What grandkids say and do
They will twist you up in knots
And don’t even have a clue.
God help him from above
To give you all his love
So he can teach her well
How you fit her life like a glove.
When from this life he’s gone
She’ll still know right from wrong
And know he’s in a better place
And sing it like a song.
Time Goes On
We wish our life away each day
The weekend is what we wait for
And no matter what we say
Waiting is such a bore.
Then you find the older you get
The faster time seems to go
We need to cherish every little bit
Needing the time to repay what we owe.
God has a plan that we don’t know
So live to the fullest each minute you can
When it comes time His plan he will show
Then you will wish through life you hadn’t run.
Stop and adore your maker of man
